Styles Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 He was lowballed ala Christian. Source- Wrestling Observer newsletter. Go crazy kids.
CanadianChick Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I'm starting to get the feeling that a reason why Jericho left when he did was because maybe he was lowballed too.
Guest Leelee Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 OMG BENOIT IS JOINING TNA~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111
Promoter Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Maybe the Canadian boys are in cahoots by planning to all leave and go to TNA. Another Radicalz type exodus. Damn, I never did get to see Taker against Benoit. I wanted to see Taker try to outwrestle Benoit with his lame wwe MMA style.
redbaron29 Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I'm not so sure they wouldn't turn around and give into his demands at the 11th hour. I highly doubt even they would treat Beniot like Christian.
King Cucaracha Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 If by some chance they don't give him the right contract, I'd be more inclined to think Benoit goes to Japan than TNA.

I highly doubt even they would treat Beniot like Christian. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup, company loyalty means a lot to Vince Mcmahon. I'm sure Benoit means at least as much as these guys do to him:
Promoter Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Well, he was the most sought after guy in the Radicalz when he came over, so point well taken that they won't treat him like Christian. Although, when Jericho came over in 1999 he was sought after too, but he never was given a decent run with the title like Benoit was just last year.
Failed Bridge Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 OMG BENOIT IS JOINING TNA~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One can only hope.
Styles Posted November 4, 2005 Author Report Posted November 4, 2005 OMG BENOIT IS JOINING TNA~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One can only hope. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Between main event money working TNA, ROH, The Italy Tour, other indies as a top star and maybe a tour or 2 of Japan, Benoit would make out pretty good.

Damn, I never did get to see Taker against Benoit. I wanted to see Taker try to outwrestle Benoit with his lame wwe MMA style. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, Paul Heyman made a suggestion to the bookers about Benoit vs. UT at WM21. He wanted Benoit to return to Smackdown (with a made up contract rule about when he lost the World Title he had to return to Smackdown), turn heel and Heyman would be his manager to build up to Benoit vs. UT at WM21. Since it was suggested by Heyman, it was promptly denied.
CanadianChick Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I bet Benoit is one of the smart ones who saved up his money.
Styles Posted November 4, 2005 Author Report Posted November 4, 2005 Just because it's fun to think about: vs. or or GO BENOIT PLEASE GO!
Enigma Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Man, WWE is practically begging TNA to get big. They better be glad Tajiri signed a new deal, or else he probably would have went to TNA too. But if they were to nab up Jericho, Benoit, and Christian, that locks up the TNA market for Canada. They could flesh out so many arenas with those guys alone.
CanadianChick Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Benoit vs. Styles? Bleh. I wonder if the paycut they offered Benoit was as much of a pay cut as Christian was offered. I would say that this would be a perfect time for Benoit to bow out all classy like, but I know he won't retire until he's crippled probably.
Placebo Effect Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 No way they're going to let Benoit go. Jericho gave his "word" that he wouldn't be wrestling when he was gone, and Christian is a midcarder. Benoit was World Champion, and is still seen as a threat most of the time.

2GOLD Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 TNA couldn't afford Benoit. He'll go to Japan or one of the Canadian indies, they'll love him. But man, the WWE better get on the ball and resign. Losing Christian AND Benoit would make me think the E was suffering from serious brain damage.

If they present their case to Panda they'll okay the expenditure.

Benoit was World Champion, and is still seen as a threat most of the time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm thinking the same thing. Besides, Benoit is perfect for making new main eventers. He makes them look kickass in the ring, he doesn't refuse jobs, and it's not like he'll outshine them on the stick or anything. I'm thinking if he takes a paycut, he's promised a World Title run.
Fökai Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Benoit is a company man and a locker room leader (not just that stupid "tenureship" title either). To anyone's knowledge, he has never openly complained even to co-workers when he felt he wasn't being treated fairly. Plus, with the way that he was treated after jumping ship from WCW, he's loyal - of course, that will be seen as a weakness in the negotiating stage, since they know he'd return for less. My prediction is that he's going to get the contract he wants, mostly because his signing will be a morale boost for the rest of the roster.

I just don't see a) the WWE letting Benoit walk and b) Panda wanting to spend the money to grab him if they do. Course, I'm currently drinking Nyquil and Dayquil at the same time so I might just be buzzed.

Panda has the money to spend and is now getting to the miraculous point where the company is becoming a money making profit venture. If you combine what TNA would give him for 3 or 4 dates a month, plus 3 or 4 ROH dates a month making the top level salary for that company, plus a weekly tour of Italy where the money is said to be insane plus a trip to New Japan where they're DESPERATE for stars, if he's getting a Christian like lowball as Meltzer says (and that was reported to be Christians downside guarentee cut in HALF), than by all means Benoit could do just as well or better for himself outside of WWE.

Cryptic clues rule... TNA couldn't afford Benoit. He'll go to Japan or one of the Canadian indies Yeah, I hear IWS and Stampede are LOADED with money nowadays. Also, Benoit versus Jack Evans. Make. It. Happen.
2GOLD Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 HALF?? They wanted to cut his salary in HALF??! Damn, that's not lowballing, that's bending a guy over and preparing to anally rape him.
Guest Leelee Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I didn't think the hype would get this bad already... Let's face facts... Jericho and Christian aren't going to TNA. They've basically said as much. Benoit isn't going to get the money WWE gave him.

Guest JMA Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 At least if he was in TNA he'd be allowed to be Canadian again. I don't think WWE will let him go, though. They need him to make the bodybuilder wrestlers look good.
