Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 I downloaded the original airing of this. I then uploaded just the part that WWE has edited out of the replay, where Michael Cole and Tazz talk about SD being treated as the second rate brand next to RAW. Just click here. Guest [censored] Report post Posted November 12, 2005 WTF! I watched the episode last night and had no idea about that. What a crock of shit. You have two guys who actually care about their show and want it to succeed and speak from the heart and they edit it out. Man I didn't really by much of the press about how the WWE works but wow. That was great , thanks. I feel bad for Taz and Cole
Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 hmmm how fast can the WWE replace them as the Smackdown announcers? I doubt that the huge McMahon egos would stand for it
The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 Why would they edit it out? I would've thought it would be part of the Raw/SD! angle thing they're trying to do?
Team Angle Pusher 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 It seems like a shoot to me. If it isn't a shoot then it's very well done and why would they edit the whole damn thing. Tazz even said Chris Chambers and Kevin Dunn, I don't think they want them to call them by names.
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 Weird, it seemed very much like a work to me. It seemed like they were just trying way too hard to kind of further some Raw vs. Smackdown feud. Especially when they came back at the end and Tazz made sure to point out that it's "not a work". Who knows, just seems fake to me. But then again it could be just that Michael Cole is such a douchebag, I can never believe anything he does.
Guest Ransome Report post Posted November 12, 2005 It's impossible to take Michael Cole seriously in this interview. As far as I'm concerned, the 'B-show' representation that Smackdown has built up has nothing to do with their representation on WWE.com or in magazines, and everything to do with the onscreen SD product that is seemingly manufactured to be inferior to Raw. In fact, I'd consider Michael Cole himself and his godawful commentary to be a significant reason that so many people apparently perceive Smackdown to be the 'B-show', which is why his whining during this interview is all the more inappropriate. How can they possibly think that whoever's hosting Byte This or the fact that Michael Cole can't get an article in SD magazine (when he said this, I laughed) is of any importance regarding SD's perception by the public? UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 This is a work. If you think otherwise you are a silly, fooled mark. Can we close this?
Scroby 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 Why close the subject. It was edited from byte this for some kind of reason. If it's a work, its a good angle. If these are actual shoot comments, Taz and Cole have some big balls for going on live like that and speaking the truth. Oh and Downhome, right on for putting that up, I wanted to see it. Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 Tazz even said Chris Chambers and Kevin Dunn, I don't think they want them to call them by names. Both Jonathan Coachman and Joey Styles mentioned Dunn by name in the CoachCast thingie this week, so it's not like that's unchartered territory.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 if it looks like shit and it smells like shit... the fact that it was "edited out" will probably be brought up at some point soon on Smackdown to continue the Raw v. Smackdown thing... I don't think Tazz and Cole (ESPECIALLY Cole) have the balls to say that kind of shit and really mean it...
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 12, 2005 It's a work, and please don't have Cole ever "shoot" like that, or attempt to act again.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 I wathced it later that night. It's ridiculous to believe that it's a shoot, but the guys did pull it off well and make it entertaining for me.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 12, 2005 I also fail to see what the point of it is... If you're going to whine about being part of the B-show, at least give some good reasons. Nobody cares who hosts Byte This!. I doubt much of the audience thought to themselves "Ooh, SD doesn't get fair representation in the mark magazine!". And how many people who buy said magazine know who Chris Chambers and Kevin Dunn are. OOH REAL WWE NAMES, IT'S A SHOOT~!
Prophet of Mike Zagurski 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 If it is a work, then why would they edit it out?
justcoz 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 It's a work meant to be fool the net fans into thinking it's a shoot. It's the way the people behind wwe.com like to do things now and I happen to enjoy it. I like to think that something is going on internally and that maybe Shane and the people at wwe.com are intionally countering the booking of the television product by doing things like this, Bret Hart's Byte This appearance, the Matt/Lita angle, the interviews when talent leaves/even fired, etc. My prediction: Since WWE had to tone down the push for getting people on the internet during Raw commericals with Raw Unlimited, due to USA not being happy, they will somehow put Smackdown on the internet live on Tuesday nights, giving a middle finger to UPN for the Friday night time slot and setting themselves up in the event UPN gives Smackdown the axe. Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 I sent the link to Dave Scherer of PWInsider also, but he told me he (obviously) can't post it on his site. Here is more about it: According to sources in the TV studio (where Byte This is filmed now), the Tazz-Michael Cole run in on this week's show was unplanned and host Todd Grisham had no idea that they were coming, nor how to handle what they said about Smackdown getting no respect from the company. From what I was told, since it wasn't planned and wasn't going to go anywhere, management at the show decided to pull what they said from archive. I did talk to a few Smackdown workers who told me that they appreciated Cole and Tazz standing up for the brand the way they did, since it's pretty a much commonly accepted feeling in the company that Smackdown is the B show and is treated that way by management. Cole and Tazz were at the studio doing voiceovers for Smackdown and apparently just decided to crash the show. I saw the segment, thanks to a friend who taped it, and was pretty wild to hear them out there being so honest about the Smackdown situation.

Boon 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 Poor Michael Cole has to buy his own coffee.
Slickster 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 It was definitely a work. Just because Todd didn't know it was going to happen doesn't mean that it wasn't planned. They probably didn't tell him so he could react appropriately and not accidentally spill the beans.

Papacita 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 Damn, Michael Cole is gangsta. Honestly, it seems like a work to me, if only for the fact that they were able to speak for so long without any kind of interruption from producers.
Dewe 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2005 The best part is Michael Cole trashing Dr. Tom: "I had the pleasure of working with that goofball, who is under a rock somewhere, Tom Prithard." This warms my heart.
reign 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 I doubt that it was a work if they edited the damn thing out...in fact my respect for Cole just went way up...now if he can only take this attitude out on the shows with him and make the SD! announcing better.... claydude14 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2005 There is a new video feature on WWE.com that is being hosted by Tazz and Michael Cole. The video feature is called "Talkin' Smack" and it will debut on Thursday afternoon. Tazz and Cole plan to "shoot from the hip" and it looks like it will be controversial. source - WWE.com http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/talkingsmack Interesting for now at least...
