They get no credit for that win, considering they barely won when only 7 guys could play for Denver.

That's going to be interesting, because I am of the line of thinking that you just cannot get equal value for Artest. He may be crazy, but he does bring it on both ends of the floor.

I feel bad for the Pacers, because they supported him wholeheartedly through everything, and he fucked them over.

Think by Friday we'll see the pacers with whomever they get for Artest?

I doubt it. They'll probably buy into his recanting of the statement like they always do, at least for the time being.

Chauncy is such a cold-blooded assassin sometimes. He's one of the best all around PGs in the league, if you look at everything, not just PPG. It'll be a crime if he doesn't make the all star team. the guy's a real floor general this year.

I have to give props to Memphis tonight. They fought and battled and could have gone in the tank, but they didn't. If Pau Gasol develops a consistent mid range game, he will be nigh unstoppable.

And if there was ever a staement game for his All-Star bid, Chauncey did it tonight.

Mike Bibby showed us tonight that not only can he choke on the game winning shot in back-to-back games, but in back-to-back quarters as well.
Of course, if B.P. Stojakovic didn't spent clutch time alternating between bricking shots and hiding from the ball, another failed Bibby "heroic effort" wouldn't have been necessary.

And now for the obligatory Ron Artest update … what a difference a week makes. While rumors and speculation continue to swirl, Artest told the Indianapolis Star on Saturday that he "should have been a man and spoken with coach about [his] differences with him," and also let loose with the revelation, "Yes, I would like to return to the team." While some Pacers players and coach Rick Carlisle are not commenting publicly about the issue, instead deferring to management, Jermaine O'Neal has been an exception. O'Neal responded to Artest's request with strong words – he said, "We can never play together. If he came back somehow, it would be him or me." Don't anticipate the Pacers to waffle over that decision – GM Donnie Walsh has stated that if he can't make a trade involving Artest that isn't to his liking, he will simply leave him on the inactive list.

Um, nice knowin' ya, Ron.

So... Yao's toe is going to need several week's rest and Dikembe is hurt with a dislocated/lacerated finger on his right hand. Somehow I don't like the Rockets having to go with a 4/5 combo of Juwan Howard and Stormile Swift. But hey, at least they've got Lonnie Baxter to back them up *sigh*.

I'd like to find a team that's as banged up as the Rockets. Seriously, Yao, Deke, Sura, Alston, Barry and Derrick Anderson all hurt to one extent or another. Although really, I'm surprised it took Anderson 20 games into the season before he got hurt.

Just as I was trying to rack out for the night, I hear this little tidbit on ESPNRadio, and had to get up to see if I could find a corroborating source online:

WRTV.com: Artest Goes to Radio to Explain Himself, Slams Magic Johnson

An excerpt from the article:

Artest said some of the criticism he has received has been unfair. Former NBA great Magic Johnson said Artest doesn't deserve a second chance in the NBA.

"It's like saying, 'Magic, should your wife give you another chance?'" Artest said "He's saying Ron Artest should have no more second chances. What's worse -- me saying I want to be traded or you cheating on your wife?"

Wow. Just... wow.

Well, now with Terrell Owens out of the picture in the sports world, and the NFL season winding down, what better way to switch everyone's attention to the NBA season with Ron Artest?

Guy's got quite the fucking mouth on him.

Posted

Ron Artest is going batshit crazy. Him saying stuff like that just ruins any trade value. (You really think the lakers are gonna try to do any 3-team trades to desperately get a guy that just mouthed off on one of their greats)

Artest is right about Magic Johnson. Who the hell does Magic think he is?

Magic is paid to give his thoughts on the NBA, and those are his opinions. He's also a FAR better player than Artest will ever be and despite the relatively immoral (to some people) things Magic Johnson did off the court, he never started an assault (and promoted his record label a week and a half later during an interview about the situation), destroyed a video camera, or in general caused the type of team-fragmenting grief that Artest creates.

I'm thrilled about Jermaine O'neal distancing himself from Artest, that speaks a lot for his character.

Good. I've had quite a bit of premarital sex, myself. Now, I can go attack and kill people and it's no biggie!

There was one jackass fan...and Artest didn't even attack the right guy. And EVEN so, throwing a cup of beer on someone is not carte blanche to physically assault anyone (excepting maybe budweiser, then you might be ok)

At least in my worldview, I save my physical retaliation for more meaningful situations. A cup of beer can't kill you. A stray punch can, especially if you miss or someone ducks and you hit a small child. Lots of random things can happen in a melee/mob situation. None of them turn out good.

But blaming Magic Johnson for -intentionally- endangering his wife is a bit presumptuous. I mean was he even having sex with his wife while he was cheating on her? Most men who are cheating do it because they AREN'T having sex with their wife for whatever reason.

Oh my bad. Magic Johnson did the right thing. Good job Magic, cheating on your wife to satisfy your needs. Job well done.

Are you serious?

Honestly, cheating on your wife is not very high on my list of morally reprehensible acts. It's an individual choice that affects two people's relationship. I personally believe if you don't want to be with your wife, you should TELL her first...but I'm not going to begrudge a man his freedom of choice.

It may not be the 'right thing' but it certainly isn't something I have any right to judge.

On the other hand I feel adequate in judging someone with violent and aggressive tendencies because there's a chance they could threaten MY safety at some point, or someone who I actually care about. Furthermore, while THEY may not threaten me, indulging in the legality of aggressive tendencies allows for other people to feel they can get away with aggressive physical confrontation as a solution to their problem without criminal prohibition. And I don't like that idea.

Plus Magic Johnson has made ammends for many of his previous mistakes in life visa-via apology and charitable intentions/contribution. Artest has made the most insincere apologies in the history of the world, and promoted his really bad record label at every opportunity through his conflict. He's batshiat crazy, Magic Johnson just made some bad life decisions.

Artest had that one incident where he felt he needed to beat the shit out of someone he thought that person threw a bottle at him. Now tell me where this threatens your safety?

Secondly, smashing a video camera compared to cheating on your wife. Gee, I don't know.

Third, Ron Artest is charitable as hell. He gave his entire first year salary to his neighborhood. He's one of the nicest people out there when he isn't pissed off, and does give back to where he came from.

Last, the fact that you are in any way defending cheating on your wife, and RATIONALIZING it, says a lot about the type of person you are.
