Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 To be fair, I don't think anyone could have predicted that the Pats would lose four fumbles or that the referee would make a horrible pass interference call to give Denver a touchdown. New England actually moved the ball a lot better than Denver over the course of the game, and I think that if they played ten games against Denver with the team they have now, they'd win seven. It's just that on this day, every break went Denver's way and they managed to come up with a 14 point victory. Pretty much. A really frustrating game for me to watch, New England could and should have won but they got nothing in the way of breaks. If Brady hadn't thrown that pick in the endzone it would have been a different game, that really rattled the offense and I think led directly to the fumble on the kickoff and the missed FG. It was really kind of amazing to see a team that had had seemingly everything go right for it the past couple years have everything go wrong, but I suppose it was bound to happen. Brady's first post-season loss, the end of a fucking incredible run. Super Bowl party won't be the same this year. I really don't want to see the Colts win. Respect them, don't like them, don't want to watch them in the big game. I hate Denver right about now. So, Pittsburgh becomes my default AFC favorite, I like the makeup and style of their team, they remind me of the Pats. I like the city of Pittsburgh too. In the NFC, I can't stand Seattle and I'm apathetic towards Carolina. I really love the Bears though, defensive juggernauts rule, I love watching teams just shut people down. So Pittsburgh v. Chicago is my ideal Super Bowl, I'd really enjoy that. Hardnosed, smashmouth football! BOOYA!
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 The only reason I wanted New England to win this game was because there is some interesting history between them and the Colts, whereas Denver's history with the Colts is getting their asses kicked by four TDs. Denver cannot beat Indianapolis, so that leaves the only hope of having an interesting AFC Championship hanging on a Steelers upset. Fortunately in the NFC both potential matchups are interesting. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 "Denver (+137) vs. New England (+41). I am flat out bewildered that everyone on here is just assuming the Pats go into Denver and take out a BETTER TEAM than them (this year anyway), who has a 3 game better record, almost 100 points better in differential, and undefeated at home this year to boot. The Pats this year reek of the 1996 Dallas Cowboys (right down to the 3 titles in 4 years), and they lost in this exact round at Carolina (26-17). I'd expect something similar like Denver 27-17." I don't mean to tell you so, but I fucking told you so. Too many people were buying into the idiotic Patriots 3 peat crap and failed to look at obvious stats. As in going against a team undefeated at home that has nearly a +100 better point differential. And a better record. And who has had their number even during the Belichick regime. Good for the Broncos, now go and job out to Indy next week like good little boys. Unless you "fucking told" us that the Pats would give the ball up 5 times and that the Broncos would score points off of of those turnovers, I really have a hard time agreeing you told us anything. The Broncos didn't win by outscoring the Pats per-se, they won because they took care of the ball and NE did not. If the rest of the layoffs play out with the +/- favorites winning each game, I'll concede that it means something. Last night didn't prove a thing to me, though. And accuse me of sour grapes if you want, but if Denver plays as poorly next week as they did last night, whoever wins today's game will demolish them (as long as said winner doesn't have 5 turnovers). 4 for 14 on 3rd down, less than 100 yards rushing (with only like 3 yards/carry), less than 200 yards passing? The Indy & Pittsburgh coaching staffs should just pattern their D after New England's last night, and will mop up the Broncos.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 Did I ever say I thought the Broncos would beat the Colts next week? They might have a shot at the Steelers, but that would be a very tough game even at home (and the win differential doesn't even matter here, I think Denver is +137, Pittsburgh +131). I said Denver would beat the Patriots about 27-17, and it ended up being 27-13. I swear Pats fans are the most deluded people I've ever seen. There's clear evidence that Denver is simply the better team this year, for certain in Denver. They beat them twice. In a 7 game series this year Denver would have had home field and won the series in about 6 games.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 Never thought I would see myself rooting for the Steelers, but oh well. Lesser of two Evils.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 The NFL is starting to learn that you can't cover Heath Miller with a safety. Roethlisberger spread that thing around--Ward, Randle El, and Miller all had big catches. That was a hell of an opening drive.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 I find it a bit easier to root for the Steelers now that Ben is going with the shaggy hair and beard look. I want to see an all bearded QB AFC title game, dammit!
naiwf 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 Is Eli QB'ing for the Colts today?
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 I dont know why but I'm also suddenly pushing for Pittsburgh. I hate the piece of shit city but like Cartman said, lesser of two evils. Indy is just plain unlikable and Denver is still Denver regardless of Plummer's beard.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 I guess the officials find the Colts unlikeable, too.

Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 If the Colts lose then the Patriots loss annoys me even more. Could have been another home playoff game for the Pats. Red Baron 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 Plus if Pittsburgh wins, Seattle has a better chance of winning the Super Bowl. ESPN is saying FUCK right now.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 I would think the officials would be biased in favor of the Colts, given that they have been before ("Gotta get Peyton to the SB, dammit!") Right as I post this the refs don't call a clear PI on Indy
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 How in the FUCK is that not pass interference?!
razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 It would be hilarious if Indy was so amped about the Pats losing tonight that they get overconfient and lose to Pittsburgh tomorrow. 14-0 in the second quarter Go Steelers!

Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 Colts moving inside the 10. If they score here they need to stop the Steelers as they get the ball in the second.

Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 They got handled. Is it possible for a Pats fan to just acknowledge that his team got beat, solidly, by a very good team? Come on now, we watched the same game. The Pats played like shit more than the Broncos played great. The Broncos d-line and John Lynch played very well, but there were alot of dumb turnovers.
