Annabelle 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2006 not to jump on this pitchforkian buzz band, but the new liars album is pretty amazing. its gonna be their benchmark. something they'll always try to top. maybe its their loveless? do they have the CRED to become a my bloody valentine? there's no dance punk. no no wave. its almost about space & time. its a very quiet album. the loudest quiet album i've possibly ever heard. Red Baron 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 Every new Ministry album I hear, I'm always let down. Maybe its my obsession that Psalm 69 kicked ass nine ways from sunday, but anything after, just doesn't live up.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 Agreed. Psalm 69 came along at just the right time. My circle of friends were obsessed over it.

Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2006 Prince's 3121 starts strong but runs out of the gas in the second half. I'll give it a couple more listens just to make sure. And I'm really liking the new Morrissey. I wasn't expecting to, either.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2006 How much Ringleader have you heard so far? I've only heard "You Have Killed Me" and I liked it
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2006 The whole album. The production is a little more sympathetic to the material than on YATQ, plus the songs are better, anyway.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2006 I still like YATQ but "America Is Not The World" is horrible. Why wasn't "Irish Blood English Heart" the leadoff track instead? Anyway, if the music is less pop-punky, I'm all for that.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2006 Speaking of 3121, I just saw the video for "Black Sweat". It was allright, but that high pitch noise (I don't know the name for it) he used throughout the song was more annoying than anything
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2006 It's just a synthesizer. And yeah, it's annoying.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted March 12, 2006 "America is not the World" is so fucking lame. That's the only song off that album I've heard.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 Listening to ROFT a second time, I'm noticing just how much echo has been placed on Moz's vocals throughout the album. It's nothing severe, really, but it's enough to make it worth mentioning. I guess I knew his voice isn't quite up to snuff these days, given how rough he sounded at times on that live album released not too long ago. Still, I like this far more than I would've expected. I'll probably buy it when it comes out.
Si82 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2006 I'm quite surprised by how good the new Placebo album is. Also, the new Graham Coxon album, "Love Travels At Illegal Speeds", is also very good. It's the perfect companion piece to "Happiness in Magazines". Full of good quality pop nuggets.

And yes, some of this shit is '05 stuff (Lekman, Boris, We are Scientists, etc...) but I didn't get around to it; regarding Boris and Jens Lekman, I regret putting it off for so long. I don't know if music just keeps getting better each year or if my resources in getting it just grow exponentially, but I feel like the first quarter of this year has been packed, more than a few mixtapes of serious A+ stuff. Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I've been meaning to buy the new Goldfrapp and Revolting Cocks Albums. Are they any good?
Guest Van Mundegaarde Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Yeah, seriously, I wouldn't quite rank it above 'Blacklisted' but it's just shy of being tied. Really really strong album. I'm not sure what a lot of this shit is about it being overthought and too restrained, etc... Plus 'Star Witness' is a career highlight for her.
