Si82 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2006 Wasn't there a TLC between Edge and Christian or was that a ladder match? They had a ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at No Mercy 2001. Is that what you are thinking of?
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 They're probably doing this to continue their hot streak of one week of high ratings. It's the second head-to-head with UFC, and they're blowing their wad the same way they did with the first one.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 What are the odds that it turns into Cena vs. Edge TLC? I don't really care, actually. Too hyped for Ultimate Fight Night.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 I didnt know there was a big UFC show on Monday until I read all the hype in the mma folder here. Definitly explains the stacked (on paper) card for Raw. One of these shows will probably end up being a disappointment and make a sane viewer feel stupid for having sat through it... Anyone think the UFC/Spkie is needling Vince a bit with the 'big announcement' hook?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 I think it's an appropriate time to have the announcement (if it's the announcement I think it is). It's odd that SPIKETV is announcing it and not the UFC, though. Dana White has always been cautious about hyping things up too much. Even when he was working through TV deals, he'd never say anything other than "we're close". To say "The biggest announcement in UFC history" after they had a show where they announced Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock as coaches for Ultimate Fighter 3 and the return of BJ Penn all in about a 5 minute time frame, I am PSYCHED to hear what it is (and if it is what I think it is, it's pretty darn big and means the WWE will have to be stacking their RAWs a lot more from now on - so say thank you, wrestling fans, to Dana White and SPIKEtv ). snuffbox 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 TripleR - I already saw your speculation about the announcement in the mma thread...and if youre correct then wwe might finally have to stop booking tv shows for the sole purpose of seeing Vince chuckle and masturbate. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 Okay, I may be behind the times because I don't watch Smackdown, but how in the hell can Angle be the World Champ? Back on topic; Flair's days of Super Bump matches are far behind him. Flair will be Flair: drunk off his ass, but still trying to actually do a good match. If at any point Flair is actually about to win the belt, Cena will come down and either get it DQ'ed, or will screw over Flair, further confusing the fans as to whether he is a face or a heel. Angle showed up as a surprise #20 entrant in the Battle Royal for the vacated Title on Smackdown and eliminated Mark Henry to win. And Flair is gonna get himself killed in this TLC match. I wonder if we'll get the usual Flair climbs the turnbuckle only to get tossed off except this time off the top of a ladder?
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 After HBK and Angle had a falling out during a tag team match on RAW, Mr. McMahon thought it would be the perfect time for HBK vs. Angle IV. And who could argue? Don’t miss RAW Monday night in what is sure to be another instant classic between these two amazing competitors. Why would Angle be allowed to compete for the Smackdown World Championship if he's still going to appear on Raw?
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 Wow, that's gonna suck. Edge was never the one to take the huge bumps in the TLC matches, and now it's gonna be one on one against Flair? Biggest spot will simply be Flair pushing the ladder over while Edge is 3/4 of the way up it. Whatever. That's why there are Tables and Chairs.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 All they need is one big spot with the ladder that they spend all match building to. Of course, that won't happen, and they'll use it like crazy and each spot will mean less than the one before.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 They'll bait and swtich it . . . or Flair will have in the contract that TLC stands for Tender, Loving Care meaning that if Flair beats Edge (in a standard match), he gets to give Lita TLC for the night. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 If they really do this it means one thing to me: Edge retains at the Rumble. The main way I thought Cena might regain the title was via the Flair run in, thus setting up an Edge/Flair blowoff at WM. If Edge simply beats Flair in this TLC match (which he certainly should), that feud has nowhere else to go and Edge needs to retain at RR.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 With the title change being a recognition of the backlash on Cena, then it's probable he isn't getting the belt back soon.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 But if Cena gets back on track with the fans, would the WWE put the belt back on him and go through on their original plans leading up to WM? I could easily see the TLC match being a bust, only for Cena to come down and "save the day" and deliver some of the crazier aspects of the TLC, which would get over with the fans. snuffbox 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 I think Flair will be somewhat competitive since its in North Carolina...with some crazy mischief to lead to a tag team match the next week.

Why would Angle be allowed to compete for the Smackdown World Championship if he's still going to appear on Raw? Angle still being on Raw is still not confirmed. Since the spoiler about him winning the belt also included a comment that he was being "moved back to Smackdown due to lack of depth on Smackdown", we don't know if he'll still be on Raw after this upcoming Raw (or if he'll even be on Raw, if they move his match with Shawn Michaels to the Rumble). normam 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 i dont know why rick fliar is part of the tlc match. Ok he has had a run in with edge for the past few months, but has he still "got it" in terms of jumping of ladders, going through tables etc?
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2006 Hey maybe Lita will attempt a hurricana and fall on her head. When's she going to wrestle again anyway? It's been a year, and they need competitors in the women's division. Do not EVER encourage or hope for Lita to start wrestling again. Even if I have to endure Ashley "chain wrestling" with her shitty hammerlocks or Torrie Wilson "wrestling", it's still better than Lita, who is suppose to be fully trained, wrestling. Guest Coffey Report post Posted January 15, 2006 You know, I'm not going to completely write this match off. The Undertaker Vs. Jeff Hardy in a ladder match looked absolutely abyssmal on paper and that turned out to be a great match.

Yeah, seriously - let's not forget, it was just a few years ago that Lita was MAIN EVENTING Monday Night RAW in a very entertaining Womens Title match... against Stephanie McMahon, no less. Yes, it had the undercurrent feud of Triple H and Special Ref The Rock, but still. Lita is very entertaining in the ring when allowed to use the top rope. I was actually wondering when she was going to stop being Useless Sex Object and do some real ringwork, too, and I have a feeling it will be when she goes face again (if ever), for a similar reason for why they prevented Brock from doing the SSP - no one's going to boo that.
