Triple H promo on Rey Mysterio

Recommended Posts

"In yesterday’s Miami Herald featured an article regarding Royal Rumble press conference. In the article it noted that Rey Mysterio dedicated winning the match to Eddie Guerrero, and Triple H said in his promo, "'With respect to Rey Mysterio, I've actually never heard somebody dedicate a loss to somebody If you think that you're going to the Royal Rumble and that you're going to win, I've got news for you. I don't care if Eddie Guerrero reaches down out of the sky and helps you himself -- it's not going to happen.'' "

Wow, I don't know what's worse, Rey constantly dedicating everything to Eddie or HHH trying to be cool... :rollingeyessmiley:

I don't see what's so bad about it. If Rey's going to incorporate rushes of power from a dead guy into his character, and the heel thing to do is belittle your opponent, then it's just being a heel. It's not like the footage of HHH pissing on Eddie's grave has been leaked yet.

Rey Mysterio is a 5'2", charisma-less, spot monkey who should be wrestling in some high school gymnasium in Coatsville, Pennsylvania with the rest of the Ring Of Honor nobodies. The way he dedicates everything to that drug abusing corpse Eddie Guerrero makes me sick.

I hate Rey Mysterio.

With all due respect to anyone who posts in this thread, I believe that Eddie's loss has truly affected Mysterio. So to say that his continued dedication of his matches to Eddie is anything other than genuine would be a misjudgement. Having said that, I do think the Triple H promo was respectful.

I don't doubt that the loss of Eddie Guerrero has deeply effected Rey Misterio, not at all. However, I do think he's milking it now. Dedicating every other match to him and screaming "Eddie" during his match with Big Show just took the fucking biscuit. I hope he doesn't win the Rumble because then we'd never hear last of his Rumble victory dedicated to Eddie Guerrero.

what, exactly, is the indicator to you guys that Rey really is milking his dedications to Eddie? I'm not asking from a smart ass perspective or from a "biased for Rey" perspective, I'm seriously wondering, purely out of curiosity for your opinions, what he's doing to make you all think that?

When the NY Giants owner died, the team spent one week memorializing (not sure if that's even a real word, but you know what I mean). They didn't spend the rest of the season doing much in memory of him. When Eddie died, it made sense for Rey to dedicate a match to him. But it seems like he still tries to 'channel' Eddie's spirt to help him out ... and also encourages the fans to keep chanting his name. Yeah, Rey misses Eddie ... but life goes on. They should be doing more to discourage the link between Eddie & Rey, IMHO. I agree that Rey should win the Rumble and go on to wrestle for the belt at WM; but I really, really hope it's not all done 'for Eddie'.

At least you're not biased at all, huh, Peja? Stellar first post.

yeah, he can certainly tone it down...I think simply pointing to the sky on big wins and maybe one brief shout out to Eddie upon winning the world title (if that ever happened) is good enough...can't blame him for the Eddie chants, but he doesn't need to encourage them to continue....perhaps it's time to lose the "EG" armbands as well.

He's also the most over face on SmackDown in Batista's absence, and it just wouldn't be right for a heel to win the Rumble. I mean, I certainly don't mind a heel challenger at WrestleMania, but the heel winning the Rumble...wasn't the last time it happened 1997 when Austin won it? And the last time the winning heel actually kept the shot Yokozuna in 1993?

Vince won it in 99.

And Batista was still a heel last year, he didn't officially turn face until afterwards

But Batista was already being cheered by the crowds consistently.

Batista was all but a face last year, I mean hell he was perhaps the most popular guy in the match.

Also, in 97 Austin was more tweener leaning almost towards face, he wasn't really a clear cut heel I don't think. Michaels was technically still heel in 95 I guess, but he veered towards tweener soon after. Yokozuna is really the only flat out heel I can think of who won the Rumble as a heel, stayed heel, and then went on to WM.

My prediction for the Rumble: Since HHH has shit on Rey here and also has lingering problems with the Big Show, I think those guys double him and toss his ass. The final 2 will come down therefore to Rey and RVD, and I guess I give the edge to Rey since it'd be a bummer to dedicate the match to Eddie and not win at that point.

That finish makes all sorts of sense to me. 1. It sends the crowd home extremely happy since the underdog Rey wins it after dedicating it to his dead pal. 2. It gives RVD a nice return showing, short of actually winning it. 3. Rey and RVD were tag teaming when RVD went down with the injury last year. 4. Eddie replaced RVD in the tag team with Rey, so it has that continuity going.

Rey and Eddie had a more intense on air relationship than any other two workers, I don't see the big deal with them making note of it.

It should come down to Rey and Chavo with the announcers going:

Who does Eddie's dead spirit love more?

This is actually pretty damn funny.

Lil Dominiac would help Chavo win saying "My real daddy would want it this way".

It would be great if they re-did the Hassan spot from last year and all the wrestlers joined up and threw HHH out. :D

I'm convinced that something goes down between Rey and Chavo during the Rumble so WWE can get the Eddie match between them at Wrestlemania.

As far as HHH's comments...that's a great heel. :headbang:

I don't care if that was in character or not, that was a pretty dumb promo to make.

Saying Rey Mysterio is a spot monkey is utter ignorance. What is it with the stereotype that all cruiserweights are spot machines and all big men are slow, crappy workers?
