Ripper Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 If Kidd OR Carter make it over Arenas something is wrong.
Guest Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 That's my view. I don't know if I've made it clear, but I find Gilbert to be one of the best players in the league.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Apparently the rosters are West: Brand Garnett Okur Allen Parker Marion Nowitzki East: Wallace Wallace Billups Hamilton Carter Bosh Pierce
Brett Favre Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Shit, I was off by one on both. How the fuck does Gasol not get in?
Dangerous A Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Pau got gipped something fierce. I don't even like the guy, but he got fucked today. Okur is worthy, but Pau is more worthy to me.
Mr. S£im Citrus Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 But Gasol doesn't play center; apparently they re-did the selection process last year, whereby at least one of the reserves has to actually be a center.
Dangerous A Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 If that's the case, then Gasol falls under the Melo category of being worthy of an All Star spot, but the position in your conference is competitively fierce. BTW Slim, I think that Bonzi Wells injury was a blessing in disguise as Adelman had to play Kevin Martin and he may have just discovered a 20 ppg type in the rough.
alfdogg Posted February 9, 2006 Author Report Posted February 9, 2006 According to the NY Post, David Stern personally selects the starting replacement for Jermaine O'Neal, which I think is stupid.
alfdogg Posted February 10, 2006 Author Report Posted February 10, 2006 Apparently the rosters are West: Brand Garnett Okur Allen Parker Marion Nowitzki East: Wallace Wallace Billups Hamilton Carter Bosh Pierce Gasol got in, Okur is out I had Chris Paul over Allen, and Kidd ahead of Carter. And I had Gilbert Arenas in. Other than that, I got it all right.
Dangerous A Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Only thing I can think of is the coaches wanted more of a real 2 guard on the bench vs. more point guards. Still, Kidd or Arenas should've gotten in. I'm ok with Gasol over Okur. Gasol was a candidate the last 2 years whereas this is Okur's first breakout type season. I think he'll make it in the future. As for Chris Paul, it's wrong to be left off, but I think he's a shoe-in for next year.
alfdogg Posted February 10, 2006 Author Report Posted February 10, 2006 Sadly, I don't think we'll see any rookies in the game as long as they keep doing the Rookie Challenge.
naiwf Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 According to David Aldridge, the Knicks are looking to trade for Steve Francis or possibly a crippled Kenyon Martin as if they learned nothing from the Allan Houston debacle. Ugh.
The Electrifyer Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Four Pistons? That's incredible. Although they fully deserve being in there, it's going to be weird to see 4 Pistons and their coach at the All-Star game. With the coach, it's actually is going to be 5 Pistons at the All Star game.
alfdogg Posted February 10, 2006 Author Report Posted February 10, 2006 Wow, Van Horn is looking good against Shaq on the offensive end. About a minute in he's hit a three in his face and blew by him to the basket.
Brett Favre Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 According to David Aldridge, the Knicks are looking to trade for Steve Francis or possibly a crippled Kenyon Martin as if they learned nothing from the Allan Houston debacle. Ugh. The Kenyon Martin stuff, it seems like the Knicks are going to stay away from him, unless they can get him for nothing. I think they should go after Francis, only if they give up Crawford and/or Richardson. No matter how you spin it, i'd rather have Francis than Crawford and/or Richardson. And Francis' contract is like 2-3 years shorter than both.
naiwf Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I just looked it up on a site and Francis has 2 more full years on a 6 year $84 million extension which expires in '08, with a player option. Q and Crawford make about the same money as Francis combined, but both of their deals expire in '09, and they each also have a player option. If the Knicks could swing that deal I'd take it, but I don't think they've ever taken back a deal that expires sooner than the ones they are shipping out. If I was Orlando, I'd want something better for Francis since you're giving up years and not really improving the team with 2 similar players. The main issue is that either Marbury or Francis would have limited minutes or be forced to play the 2, and that could get ugly since neither guy likes to dish the rock as much as they like to shoot it.
alfdogg Posted February 10, 2006 Author Report Posted February 10, 2006 DA pointed out tonight that the Knicks make $1.7 million per game at MSG. I guess that's what happens when you can get people to pay $2000 to sit courtside. My ringside tickets for SD at Conseco Fieldhouse were only $44 a piece.
bob_barron Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Given how injury prone K-Mart has been, I don't think the Nets were that stupid for trading him
Cheech Tremendous Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I just looked it up on a site and Francis has 2 more full years on a 6 year $84 million extension which expires in '08, with a player option. I'd probably do that deal too, but I doubt the Magic would bite. But are Francis and Marbury really that different of players? It just seems like they would be acquiring another name player who does the exact same thing as the guys that are already there. How many shooting guards who think they are points do they need?
bobobrazil1984 Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 marbury and francis? Arent they like, the same player.
naiwf Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 marbury and francis? Arent they like, the same player. Yes, and that's exactly why Isiah probably covets them both. It doesn't matter to him if 2 guys play the same position or role as long as the Knicks "increase their assets" or "get younger".
Brett Favre Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 He's probably thinking of some Isiah Thomas/Joe Dumars thing with Marbury/Francis. Both are scoring guards. I think Francis can be a good shooting guard, and wouldn't turn the ball over as much. Marbury handles the ball pretty good (doesn't turn the ball over), and if Francis can score, i'm sure Marbury would defer to him.
Cheech Tremendous Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 The Miami Heat are a combined 1-10 this year against the Pistons, Mavs, Spurs, Suns, Nets and Nuggets.
Guest Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 If the Knicks must make a trade, they either have to get rid of Stephon or get a servicable PF.
Cheech Tremendous Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Except that Stephon probably has the most untradeable contract in the league right now. I think that if anyone bit, they'd ship him out in a second. They have apparently discussed a Penny and Frye for Kenyon Martin deal (Isiah is balking at the inclusion of Frye). Martin's a PF, but that's another deal that leaves me scratching my head. Maybe Thomas thinks that the NBA will change the rules to allow more than one basketball on the floor at a time. That's the sort of team he's assembling, especially if Francis somehow makes his way to NY.
Brett Favre Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Isiah ain't trading Frye for Kenyon Martin. That's just what Denver was asking before Isiah hung up the phone. I seriously doubt they'll trade for Martin.
Guest Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Martin's another one of those guys with a ridiculous contract, but one that would actually help New York. However, I wouldn't trade Frye.
alfdogg Posted February 11, 2006 Author Report Posted February 11, 2006 I had read at one point that the only two untouchables on the Knicks were Curry and Frye. But since then, I've heard Frye mentioned in trade rumors as much as anyone on the Knicks.
The Czech Republic Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 The Miami Heat are a combined 1-10 this year against the Pistons, Mavs, Spurs, Suns, Nets and Nuggets. And this has what to do with the Knicks?
Gert T Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Kenyon Martin has 34 going into the 4th quarter. I guess none of his posse has to go after people tonight.
