chaosrage 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 Yawn. Hogan needs a 4 disc set about as much as Snitsky needs one.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 Hogan has had much better matches than Snitsky, bumped around a lot more than Snitsky, had a better moveset than Snitsky, sold better than Snitsky, worked the crowd better than Snitsky, wrestled for much longer in many more different places than Snitsky... basically, everything one can do in a wrestling match, Hogan did much better than Snitsky. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 My comments in bold... DISC 1: NWA Southeastern Championship Wrestling, 5/5/79: Terry "The Hulk" Boulder vs. Andre the Giant (arm wrestling match)Haven't seen it. Probrably a good angle, but may not hold up well WWE, 13/11/79: Hulk Hogan vs. Harry Valdez (WWE debut, Championship Wrestling)Purely for historical purposes. This will not be good. WWE, 17/12/79: "The Incredible" Hulk Hogan vs. Ted DiBiase (Madison Square Garden debut)Historical purposes WWE, 9/8/80: "The Incredible" Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant (Showdown At Shea)Historical purposes. The match is shit. AWA, 18/4/82: Nick Bockwinkel! vs. Hulk Hogan (AWA World Championship)Haven't seen it. AWA, 24/4/83: Nick Bockwinkel vs. Hulk Hogan (AWA World Championship, Super Sunday)Haven't seen it, heard it was good NJPW, 2/6/83: Hulk Hogan vs. Antonio Inoki (IWGP Championship tournament finals)Good match. One of the reasons to get this set. DISC 2: WWE, 23/1/84: Iron Sheik vs. Hulk Hogan (WWE Championship)Historical purposes only. Match sucks WWE, 31/3/85: Hulk Hogan & Mr. T vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper & "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff (WrestleMania)Historical and match isn't terrible, considering Mr Fucking T is in it WWE, 7/4/86: Hulk Hogan vs. King Kong Bundy (steel cage match, WrestleMania 2)Not needed. Good storyline, but this match blew 6 kinds of dick WWE, 3/1/87: Hulk Hogan vs. "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff (steel cage match, Saturday Night's Main Event)Excellent match. To this day, I argue Mr Wonderful made it to the floor first. Yes, I am a mark for this match WWE, 29/3/87: Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant (WrestleMania III)Not really needed since it's available everywhere on dvd. Match blows too WWE, 29/8/88: The Mega-Powers vs. The Mega-Bucks (SummerSlam) Not necessary. If you are going to include a match from the feud with Dibiase, it might as well be this one WWE, 2/4/89: "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Hulk Hogan (WWE Championship, WrestleMania V)Excellent match. Take a look at Savage's elbow as it's bandaged up something fierce due to staph infection. WWE, 1/4/90: Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior (Wre! stleMania VI)Available elsewhere. Not really needed, but a pretty good match DISC 3: WWE, 27/8/90: Hulk Hogan vs. Earthquake (SummerSlam)Don't remember this match that well, which tends to make me believe it wasn't that good WWE, 24/3/91: Sgt. Slaughter vs. Hulk Hogan (WWE Championship, WrestleMania VII)Ugh. A dark time for WWF and foreshadows what Vince will do to get heat WWE, 3/12/91: Undertaker vs. Hulk Hogan (WWE Championship, Tuesday In Texas)Yuckers. Avoid at all costs WCW, 17/7/94: Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan (WCW Championship, Bash At the Beach)Not bad. Good to see them putting the library to use WCW, 23/10/94: Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair (WCW Championship - steel cage retirement match, Halloween Havoc)Eh, not bad, but not necessary either WCW, 15/9/96: Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, & nWo Sting vs. Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Lex Luger, & Sting ("War Games:The Match Beyond", Fall Brawl)I enjoyed this War Games more than others, but just because I enjoyed the fake Sting angle and the real Sting having the superman shine. WCW, 29/12/97: Hollywood Hogan vs. Sting (WCW Championship - Starrcade)Not good and really only needed to see Nick Patrick and Hogan screw Sting's win up. DISC 4: WWE, 11/3/02: Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall, & Kevin Nash vs. The Rock & Stone Cold Steve Austin (RAW)Not good and totally exposes how old the nWo was at that time WWE, 17/3/02: Hollywood Hogan vs. The Rock (WrestleMania X8)!Crowd heat and historical purposes only. Match sucks WWE, 21/4/02: Triple H vs. Hulk Hogan (WWE Championship, Backlash)Match sucks. This is not needed anywhere for any reason except to show people that old people shouldn't work with people who are still injured WWE, 4/7/02: Billy & Chuck vs. Hulk Hogan & Edge (World Tag Team Championship, SmackDown!)Good reaction and feel good ending. Not a bad selection for a dvd WWE, 30/3/03: Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. McMahon (streetfight, WrestleMania XIX)Entertaining tricks and gimmicks match. Good for a DVD. WWE, 21/8/05: Hulk Hogan vs. Shawn Michaels (SummerSlam)Really only worth it to see HBK trying to make a mockery of the match with his overselling, especially the big boot. Enigma 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 Where's the Mr. America era? Excuse me? What does that have to do with Hulk Hogan? Hogan said he absolutely hated every part of the Mr. America angle, so I'm not surprised that it was ignored on here. And in my opinion, that time was when Smackdown (and wrestling as a whole) started getting skippable for me.
res37618 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 I'm sure I'll purchase this, because I'm a completist, but I must say the only disc I'm thrilled about is the first one. The other three discs contain some good matches, but nothing that is "unique" or hard to find. Virtually every match on the 2nd-to-4th disc appears to be stuff that's readily available on previous VHS or DVD releases. I was honestly hoping for more stuff like Sat. Night's Main Event title defenses, MSG matches, Hogan matches from WCW Nitro, that sort of thing. Wishful thinking on my part, I'm sure . . .

justcoz 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 I think they could have added more '84-'87 stuff. I remember a MSG match, early in Hogan's title reign, against the Masked Superstar. For some reason I loved that match as a kid. I also liked Hogan and Dr. D. David Shultz plus I'd like to see matches against people like Don Muraco, Harley Race or Jesse Ventura. He also had a way better match from the Spectrum against the Iron Sheik. Maybe a squash match on TV against one of the Samoans. The Hogan-Orndorf angle. Oh well. I have most on video somewhere (except for that Masked Superstar match that I'd like to see again just to know if it was actually good or just a fond childhood memory). Enigma 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 Also, everything from Hogan's initial face run in WCW after the Flair feud is completely ignored. I'm kind of shocked they skipped Hollywood Hogan beating The Giant at Hog Wild '96 and spraypainting "NWO" over the WCW Title belt.

With 4 discs I bet some of this stuff will show up as an easter egg or extra of somekind.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 While I know that it'd be cost prohibitive, I really wish these DVD's were "a la carte" and you could just choose X number of matches. I'd like a one disc set with just some of those matches ... but there's no fucking chance I'd pay for a 4 disc Hogan set. I wouldn't watch a lot of those matches if they were on free TV some Saturday night, let alone pay good money for them.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 I'll just copy and paste what I said in the 2006 DVD thread about this: Terrible list as most of those matches are already on DVD and seems more like just of a rehash Hogan's previous DVD set! Well, lets just hope a bunch of interviews or something will be extras, including Hogan's heel turn at BATB 96 including that classic speech. Stuff I would have liked to have seen on here: SNME Hulk Hogan Vs. The Boss Man in the Steel Cage Hulk Hogan Vs. The Honky Tonk Man Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior Vs. Mr. Perfect & The Genius Hulk Hogan & Psycho Sid Vs. Ric Flair & The Undertaker. PPV Matches Team Hogan Vs. Team Dibiase - SSeries 1989 Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior Vs. Sgt. Slaughter, Col. Mustafa, and General Adnan - The Match Made In Hell, SummerSlam 1991 Hulk Hogan Vs. Yokozuna - KOTR 1993, its significant because it was Hogan's final WWF match before he came back. Just For Kicks Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake Vs. The Beverly Brothers - Grudges, Gripes, & Grunts Hulk Hogan & Roddy Piper Vs. Ric Flair & Sid Justice - Battle of the WWF Superstars 1992 Basically, more TV or taped for CHV matches would been nice. WCW Hulk Hogan & Bret Hart Vs. Randy Savage & Roddy Piper - GAB 98 or Hulk Hogan & Bret Hart Vs. The Warrior & Sting from Monday Nitro. Starrcade sucked, they should have picked Mayhem 1999 instead or the Monday Nitro world title match a few weeks prior to that. Those were better Sting matches. jester 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 I'm a Hogan Hater and even I've got to admit this is a sweet collection. I would love to hear commentary for the following matches: AWA, 18/4/82: Nick Bockwinkel! vs. Hulk Hogan (AWA World Championship) AWA, 24/4/83: Nick Bockwinkel vs. Hulk Hogan (AWA World Championship, Super Sunday) aaaaand... WCW, 29/12/97: Hollywood Hogan vs. Sting (WCW Championship - Starrcade) Just for the hypocracy.
Guest Super Leather Report post Posted February 14, 2006 I was really hoping that this would be a reissue of the old Coliseum videos they did for Hogan. The first one has a bloody brawl with "Dr. D" Dave Schultz, as well as a bodyslam match with Big John Studd (Hogan bleeds and takes a slam on the concrete). Hogan used to get his ass handed to him big time back in the "Eye of the Tiger" era and that's the only period of his career that I'm still interested in. But I am stoked that the match against Inoki made it. AXE BOMBAH!!!!!!!!!!
