Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 This is all real, kids. Wake up and smell the IRA love. Benoit/Bobby vs Finlay/JBL was the balls. And Finlay was the sack holding those balls together. Sweet strikes, great heel work with the crowd, awesome bumping and selling. He's killin' it and nobody gives a shit. Well you should. Finlay vs Benoit vs JBL vs Regal @ WrestleMania for the US Title would get WWE my 40 bucks in a heartbeat. Hell, any combination of those in tag or singles format would smoke 99% of the shit they put on TV anyways. Smackdown owns RAW in every single way possible at the moment. Silence 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 You need to put Booker on commentary for that match That post was so great that you had to post it twice. In all seriousness, though, Booker T cracks me up when he talks really fast on commentary like he's hyperventilating.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 put me down as a Finlay fan. I've also gotten to be a fan of heel Booker T and Sharmell...they're great on the mic when bantering with Cole.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Booker T on commentary makes it even better. Big Finlay fan, I don't remember much of him... I didn't know he had that much charisma before.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Did Booker T use any of Stevie Ray's material of "Sucka Gotta Know" or "Yaks"?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Booker takes away from the match, he's very distracting (and fairly entertaining). I got no problem him commentating for a five minute match, but any big matches he should stay away. And Benoit still is #1. Finlay is #2.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 no, but bringing Stevie Ray in on the mic would be almost as good...hey which one used the "on like neckbone, sucka" line all the time? was it Stevie Ray?
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted February 18, 2006 I'm glad to see the Finlay love spreading. I think one of the bring reasons he's shining right now is because he sticks out so well in WWE clone land. He has a great wrestling charactor and he portrays it well. That's something a lot of other wrestlers are missing. I just hope he can have that one great match that everybody will look back at fondly in the future. Guest Dr Stupid Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Rob Van Dam I'm gonna give RVD some time, as he has been away from the ring for a year. At the moment, Finley>RVD and Benoit>Finley Oh, and didn't you know that Trips is the best at the moment?
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 I have been saying for months that Booker T is 100x better then Tazz and Cole. Booker manages to inform, entertain and put over the talents while staying in character. I do look forward to seeing him job the title in quick fashion to Benoit, where I hope that Finlay instantly challenges for the title on the spot leading to an impromtu 12 minute period of awesomeness. I didn't think bringing Finlay in would be a good idea, because I didn't really think they would let Finlay be Finlay. In WCW, they made him out to be a boring "brawler", but in WWE he has shown personality but hasn't given up who he is. A stiff ass kicking irish fighter. Benoit Vs Finlay Vs Regal Vs JBL for the US title sounds delicious with Booker providing his "insight" @ Mania. In fact, Booker should just join Smackdown's announce crew for the entire show. I haven't watched him in WWE (and don't intend to, really) but in WCW, did he have one single good match with someone not named Benoit? Who doesn't have good matches with Benoit? He had the kind of negative chemistry in the ring that even made matches with Ultimo Dragon and Bret Hart boring as hell. I always used to wonder why they kept Finlay around. He put the crowds to sleep, net fans called all of his matches dull, he was just an extremely boring guy to watch.

Part of the reason that Booker gets distracting is that Cole thinks he needs to contradict EVERY SINGLE THING Booker says and it leads to Booker, Sharmell and Tazz dropping everything and burying the shit out of him. He put the crowds to sleep, net fans called all of his matches dull, he was just an extremely boring guy to watch. In WCW, they made him a boring personality. Finlay had good matches with Booker T, Benoit (as you mentioned) and Regal. He even had a couple half-decent hardcore matches to boot. They kept Finlay around because he's a good trainer and a guy who can handle his business. It's funny that you ask "where did this love come from?" and you admit to not having seen him in WWE and won't bother. Here's a way to figure it out, watch and you will be why he is getting the love. Also, this isn't "Internet love" like people act like they like Boogeyman or Snitsky, where it's trendy for a month to like those complete duds. Finlay's love is legit because he has been an excellent character and worker since coming back.
Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Sometimes it depends on the casual fan... and this is what I've seen... My friends don't watch wrestling too much, but they said they watched the past couple of weeks and they watched last week Finlay beat the crap out of the midgets. They automatically jumped on the Finlay bandwagon and said they want to see more of his work. Tonight they watched him, and they told me he's fucking awesome. He's catching on real quick. This guy is 47 fucking years old and he's still fucking shit up.... FINLAY FTW!

Here's a way to figure it out, watch and you will be why he is getting the love. But I mean, it started before he had his first match in WWE. People were making threads going OMG FINLAY! HE'S COMING BACK! I didn't realize he was any different now from when he was in WCW. If he's really a lot better, okay, I'll give him a chance.
Guest Timmer Report post Posted February 18, 2006 I'll be the 1st to admit that I groaned when I saw those promos of him coming bacj but I gotta admit, he has been a breath of fresh air...he's different and he knows what he is doing in the ring...unlike many of the young guys
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 The love comes from the fact that he's unconventional. Stomping on Benoits fingers, trapping guys in the ring apron, the double foot stomps, etc. It's refreshing.

Celtic Jobber 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 I don't get the Finlay love at all, and I've seen all of his work on Smackdown since returning. He's still the same boring lug he was in WCW, although I was mildly amused when he beat up the midgets last week. Maybe he's techincally good in the ring but that can't overcome his boring persona and my horrible memories/association of Finlay in WCW. So, IMO almost the entire roster is better than Finlay right now. But I guess he's better than guys like Snitsky, Tomko, Lashley, and all the women wrestlers. I'd even rank Chris Masters ahead of Finlay because he atleast has an interesting character and potential, and no shitty WCW history hanging over his head. Just John 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Finlay's alright, but not the best wrestler in the company now. Benoit, Angle, and Michaels are ahead of him for sure. The biggest problem with Finlay is his style isn't compatible with too many people. He works well with a guy like Benoit who can stiff it up, and he looks good when squashing jobbers or midgets, but once he gets another feud after Benoit, he's in trouble. He's very much like Regal in the sense that the number of opponents he can have a good match with are limited due to his style. I did like the apron trap, though. That was clever. Scroby 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 I've always like Finlay since he was in WCW. I liked the tough bastard whose going to kick your ass cause he's a fighting irish guy gimmick he's always have had. I'm glad he's able to use the same gimmick in the WWE. I hope Finlay gets a decent push in WWE but I'm guessing he will because he's been a road agent for so long.
