I'll accept that, I just mean that not many people are willing to lose that much blood in a match qand it does impress me.

Everything I've heard of him was that he was the nicest most lovable guy you could be around. And not only now, I've heard this well before he died. What a great player he was for years, not only at the plate but in the field. A multi-time gold glover and a true pro. I'll never forget the "We'll see you tomorrow night" comment after Puckett's extra inning home run in game 6 of the 1991 World Series. Anyway, if you take all of the backstage crap out of the equation, and took the "characters" out of the equation and just watch the 2 men wrestle, there is NO WAY you can say Cena is even CLOSE to HHH in terms of wrestling ability. At least from what I've seen of both guys. Therefore, I am forced to cheer for "The Game" at Wrestlemania. I don't know how you can continue to push a babyface champion that gets booed out of the building. There is about a 2% chance Cena comes out of WM with the belt.

I'll accept that, I just mean that not many people are willing to lose that much blood in a match qand it does impress me. I think Hunter's offense is a bit tedious and at times outdated. In general, it tends to come off as very plodding. However, most of it looks like it hurts. Cena's offense is just absurd His punches are worse than Torrie's, he has totally given up on trying to make the FU look good, the fistdrop...is the fistdrop, and he doesn't even do the necksnap anymore. Nothing the man does looks like it should incapacitate someone.
Dangerous A Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I don't hate either guy, but I'm definitely not feeling either one up to this point either. From a smark/insider perspective, the only thing intriguing to me is Cena's inconsistent reactions and HHH trying to get back on top and justify it, despite his character being stale. From just a wrestling fan POV, this is a poorly built up match for WM. If they can pull off anything decent at WM, it'll be surprising. Because Vince and HBK are limited in what they can do, I'm assuming they'll get the bag of tricks for their match (weapons, blading, the whole nine) which'll force HHH and Cena to do a straight match, something I am not looking forward to at all. If you can do a bag of tricks match like Cena/JBL from Judgment Day, then Cena is passable. However, I think HHH believes he can get a good match out of Cena straight up and I don't know if that's going to happen.
naiwf Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 HHH does more harm than good for the WWE product when he wants to be THE guy, so I'll say that my choice is Cena. On top of that, Cena can easily be freshened up with a heel turn or just some edginess added back to his persona. HHH is beyond the point of no return. He is what he is, and sadly that got stale about 5 years ago. The only thing that will change about him is the number of title reigns he'll show with his fingers when chasing/holding the belt in the future.

HHH tends to take it all for himself and no one can use it in their matches but him. The dude shouldn't get credit for being willing to blade when the reality is others guys would do it if they were allowed to.

Back in 2003 it was really bad but now it's worse because he has never hurt the company so bad like he does in 2006. Edge was money. No, Edge is money. Edge is ratings. Cena is money. Cena is merch. Cena can draw. By holding them down HHH is not only destroying their careers, he is also responsible for WWE not earning the money which they could have earned (including the future). Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of HHH. I like him since 1995 and I defended him in 2003 but this is just too much. When I see him on tv with his kok gimmick, I know that he is not talking about a gimmick thus for me his negative backstage impact can't be denied because I can feel that something is wrong. I can see the impressions in Cena's face and I can feel the heat burning inside Edge's body and the urge to say HHH instead of Foley. Triple H crossed the line.

Blading is usually reserved for getting sympathy for the babyface. Usually when a heel gets color, it's only after the babyface gets it first so that things appear evened up in the match. In a lot of HHH's PPV main events, he is the lone bleeder while the babyface doesn't get the opputunity to bleed and get that sympathy. Sometimes it just feels that HHH bleeds for the sake of bleeding. Pretty soon the blood loses it's effect. I especially felt this way during the WMXX 3 way where it seemed HHH and HBK were bleeding just for the fuck of it and it really didn't mean anything. The match would still have been good if both men hadn't bladed. Therefore, they did it for nothing. Jeff Jarrett is also very guilty of this in a lot of his matches.

10 Pounds Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 In the ring, I prefer HHH over Cena. HHH, when he wants it, can still bring out his wrestling boots and have a great match with someone. Although in most cases, he have to be carried by his opponent ( i.e : Benoit ). On the other end: sure, Cena's act is stale but it's nothing compared to the 5+ years reign of HHH as the All-mighty King of Wrestling. So they both cancel each other out. I'm sick of both of them.

From what I've read, Cena seems to be the exact opposite of HHH backstage. He doesn't play politics, hold other talent down, etc. He just seems like a true team player & someone that's easy to work with, which is good from the administrative standpoint. As far as in-ring goes, Triple H is the better wrestler. I don't think Cena is quite as bad as some here make him out to be though. From what I've seen, Cena seems to perform better at PPVs & any type of big match situations. Not that he turns into Benoit or anything but he doesn't always go through those same exact motions everytime. One of his most recent standout performances has to be his match against Edge on that Thursday Night Raw. If he was to step it up in every match like he did in that one & if some more edge was added to his character then I'd love him again just I did in '03. If they keep Cena's character going in this stale direction then I hope the belt goes on Trips at WM. I mean, I'm a Cena fan but I think his push needs to be given a rest for awhile anyway.

He understands psychology well and his only real downfall is that he sets up his matches to let the face get too much offense. Cena, meanwhile, is downright terrible in the ring. He's held the title for a year with only a small hiatus, and at a time when he should have been stepping it up and having the best matches he's capable of, pretty much everything he's done has been terrible. His climactic Royal Rumble match to regain the title was like a cookie-cutter Superstars match from 15 years ago. Also, Cena has an extremely stale character that's held the belt for 11 of the last 12 months, and gets pushed consistently as the top baby face despite the fact that he's been getting booed for close to half of that time. So Cena's worse; it's not even close. I get disappointed in Hunter sometimes, and I wish he'd improve, but I don't detest seeing him on the television screen or tune out when he's in the main event like I do with Cena. I'd cheer my ass off to see HHH pedigree Cena right back to the midcard.

I've never really liked the guy since his heel turn but my hate for Triple H is to strong to support him. The segement last week on Raw just made Cena look like a pussy. It seems Triple H can't play heel so WWE changes the rules just for him. I honestly can't make up my mind, since I hate them both so much I only watch Smackdown now.
