Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 13, 2006 At work, I need the radio or online radio channels on at times. Thus, I listen to lots of sports radio now. And at 10am-noon, it's pretty dry, and Rome is my only option.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 I do miss Rome's ridiculous ads for McDonald's chicken sandwiches and The Men's Store at JC Penneys. The way Rome sarcastically says "I'm lovin' it" makes me grin every time.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 Interviewing dumbass Sylvester Stallone on Rome in Burning: "You know, thos Philadelphia fans, they'll let you have it if they don't like you. I SAW THEM THROW ICEBALLS AT SANTA CLAUS." Even though there is NO footage of iceballs being thrown at Santa IN EXISTANCE, Stallone, a New York native and fan, JUST HAPPENED TO BE AT THE GAME. What a liar. Rome's show sucks, too.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 Umm yeah there has been footage of the snowball incident.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 No, there's footage of Philly fans throwing snowballs. But not at Santa. Before the Eagles/Panthers game on Sunday Night Football 2 weeks ago, ESPN ran a huge story about the Santa Claus incident. They even had the guy who played the Santa on. No footage of balls being launched at Santa exist. Or of Santa being booed. All that exists is a 2 second shot of Santa on the field. BTW, the Santa they planned on having couldn't make the game, so they pulled a skinny guy dressed as Santa from the crowd and asked him to be their Santa. Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2006 I quit listening to Rome entirely back in August after his whole rampage with the little league team that intentionally walked the best hitter on the opposing team to get to a cancer-survivor kid who incidentally was the worst hitter on his team (was Phil Garner managing this team?)... that was the final high-horse trip for me. Oh, it was really shitty to intentionally walk him for a kid with brain cancer, but like you said, what kind of moron manager bats his worst hitter after his best hitter? Even if it's just little league, put some damn thought into your lineup.
J.B. Buzzkill 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2006 Rome's callers/emailers, though, are hilarious and pretty much save his show IMO.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2006 one of my favroite Rome stories was the soundbite he played of that mother calling 911 dispatch to send someone to get her kid. mother: "yeah I need you to come get my kid" dispatcher: "you want us to come shoot her?" mother: "....what did you just say??? what is your name? I'm calling your supervisor!"

Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2006 Rome's callers/emailers, though, are hilarious and pretty much save his show IMO. Around '02 or so, when Rome really began tightening his sphincter and mounting his high-horse more frequently, as well as taking NASCAR's cock in his mouth after years of (rightly) mocking it, I eventually found myself only listening because of the callers/emailers, but that whole cancer-kid thing was one of the last straws for me. One funny thing I remember a couple months before I quit listening though: when Rome condemned his callers for making fun of Amelie Mauresmo's manliness after she won Wimbledon, but then a couple days later he fell into his old "WNBA players are horses" bit... Guest Smues Report post Posted December 15, 2006 what's worse: Cold pizza or quite frankly. My god those shows are horrible. Cold Pizza is bad, HOWEVA, Screamin' A Smith is worse than Skip Bayless so the answer is Quite Frankly.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 15, 2006 Cold Pizza is much worse, as it's absolutely pointless. Screamin' A. Smith actually gets out of his gimmick for his show sometimes, although it still sucks.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2006 "Steve Nash is the greatest point guard of this era". Kidd is only ~3,200 points, ~3,700 rebounds and ~3,000 assists ahead. Since they haven't played the same number of games, here is the per game averages -> 14.6 to 13.5, 6.5 to 2.8 and 9.2 to 7.1. Give me a fucking break guys, two seasons does not a career make. I didn't even bother to include Stockton or anyone else who played during the last decade but has since retired. ESPN is becoming more and more WWE like in that they don't think the average viewer can remember anything before 2004.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2006 Yeah Woody is back in Denver. Anyone know why he left Cold Pizza other than being homesick for Denver? The 1st and 10 stuff was all that was ever worth seeing on Cold Pizza, and now they just have various fill in guys with Bayless. I am terrified one day they will have Steven A. Smith and Skip Bayless become a permanent team.
Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2006 I think the reason why Woody left is because his sister is really sick with cancer. He mentioned it on ATH and his final day on Cold Pizza. I don't see Cold pizza lasting very much longer.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 16, 2006 If Cold Pizza has lasted this long, losing Woody Paige won't stop it. The solution is to bring Thea Andrews back and show some skin.

C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2006 Watching the Ten Best Games of the year or whatever I'm amazed (well, I guess it could be expected), but during the SuperBowl highlights espn didn't even mention once that there was questionable officiating to say the least. You would think they'd mention the one dominating topic from the game, but alas no.
Mik 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2006 I'm pretty sure Woody's sister has already passed away. I think he went back to Denver because he missed being a journalist. And for the record, Tim Cowlishaw is one thing that DOESN'T suck about ESPN. That buffet during ATH yesterday had me rolling with laughter, as he usually does.
