Stump the Blob marathon on Classic today. Sadly it's not an April Fools joke.

What the hell. Tiebreaker question "The 2002 Padres set a record by using the most pitchers in a season. How many did they use?" the answer was 37. One guy guessed 24, the other guessed 482.

So the guy assumed the Padres signed about 400 pitchers during various times in the season to play for the big league club? Apparently someone was born without a brain stem.

If the Schwab wasn't utterly and pathetically annoying and overdramatic, that show would actually be all right because the games leading up to the "Schwab Showdown" are pretty interesting. Two Minute Drill owns it six ways from Sunday, though. I still have the PC version of it.

I still play 2 Minute Drill occasionally. It's fun.

I only like the 1st part of Stump the Schwab, with the lists. It's fun when they ask a question where I can possibly know all of them, and turn my head away from the answers, and laugh at the contestants. The 2nd round is hit and miss. The showdown is unwatchable with Schwab overacting the "Lolz, I know too much about sports, so I'm obviously a huge geek." stereotype bullshit.

that's not awesome, Jim Rome called him out on it and the guy apologized...Rome played the take today of a conversation the two had and the dude was like "oh they took it out of context", Rome's like "you told me to suck your cock, of course i'm gonna get mad"

here's the link:

what he said, rome confonts him, rome's response the next day

What the fuck... I was all ready to be glad someone finally called out Rome on his bullshit, and then he retracts?

dude almost sounds scared of Rome.

That's awful. Rome's a fucking pup... I don't know why he still talks all that stuff about "smack" when he's all over nearly everyone's dick now

Unless you say something derogatory about gays, minorities or retards, then you'd better watch out

Merrill Hodge makes controversial draft comments. Edition 2007

If he ran the Raiders he'd trade Randy Moss to the Lions for the 2nd overall pick.

I hope Hoge was joking. But, it's ESPN, and their thing of late is having all their "experts" say ridiculous predictions that they themselves don't even believe can happen.

It's about time someone noted called Rome out on his lame soccer (and any other sport that isn't popular) bullshit.

yeah, but what does Rome care? It's his job to be that way. He called a football player a girl, basically, to his face at one point...

kkk beat me to the punch on what happened with that... but really, Rome hasn't been that antagonistic in years. Pretty much the only way Rome "talks smack" on anyone now is if they say anything racist, anti-gay or make fun of retards. He doesn't really call out players for bad plays anymore (as he was doing with the "Chris" Everett incident) and he never takes any callers or interviews with people who will argue with him. I remember back in '00 or so when he got on Scott Boras for the whole Adrian Beltre/Dodgers issue and when Boras called Rome to take him to task, Rome's balls disappeared rather quickly.

And as Leena said, I'm glad someone called him out on the soccer issue. He used to make fun of NASCAR nonstop but now can't wipe their cum off his chin fast enough, while still knocking on soccer and amateur wrestling.

Wilbon said it regarding Don Imus and his desire to get staff workers on his radio show who would make "nigger jokes," or something of that nature. I'm still not in :o mode over it.

Now if Tony Reali would say to Michael Smith, "Quit whining about not getting any points you fucking nigger," then I'd be in mark-out mode.

NIGGER. On ESPN.

After they aired "A Season on the Brink" Uncensored nothing has been able to shock me by being said on ESPN.

What's that? You say this Jackie Robinson fellow is somewhat important to the game of baseball? Why thank you ESPN! I would have never known that if you didn't remind me of it EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY for the last 2 weeks!

Seriously, did you see the story they did two days ago? "Oh noooooes! There aren't enough blacks playing baseball! What are you people doing?! Don't you remember Jackie Robinson?! You're ruining his legacy if you don't play baseball! Black people need to play baseball! There's not enough blacks anymore! It's becoming too white and hispanic! You're ignoring what Jackie Robinson did for you! Jackie Robinson! Jackie Robinson! Jackie Robinson! *explode* "

Yeah I'm also sick of the constant talk about Jackie Robinson. I almost wish they'd discuss Larry Doby just to break the monotony. But as far as black kids not playing baseball....who cares? There are several reasons for this:

1. Black kids don't like baseball and find it boring compared to football or basketball.

2. Baseball equipment is expensive as hell. If you want to excel in baseball you need a quality bat and glove, and that stuff runs into money unless you know someone who has a good bat (but you still need a glove).

3. Sandlots don't really get you anywhere in this country. That is more of an overseas thing in the Caribbean. In the USA you have to be involved in organized baseball from a young age. Little League, then move up to HS ball, etc.

4. There are some black Little Leagues, but they aren't well funded. Baseball is quite segregated at a Little League level, not really by intent but it just...is.

5. Football and basketball are more popular sports in HS and thus black athletes are more likely to try out.

Baseball isn't a fast ticket out of the shithole like basketball. If you're an awesome ballplayer, you're drafted, you toil on a Single-A team in Dog Ass, Arizona, work your way up to the majors, are under team control forfuckingever, and only after like seven years do you get the big money. If you're a baller, you're rich at 19 and have your own shoe, then you fuck up your life because you brandish a gun.
