Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 I was kinda surprised, I didn't see it til it hit DVD and I had heard so many negatives about it. It can be slow and plodding at times, but I expect that with the first in a franchise. Overall, I liked it.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 Michael Clayton was a pretty damn good flick. Good to hear, I'm probably checking it out tonight. Either that or Death at a Funeral (British comedy and Peter Dinklage sounds like a can't miss combination) but I'm definitely leaning towards Michael Clayton. King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2007 Lord, from what I saw (all but the first half hour or so), last night's SNL was just awful. I mean '04-'05, '94-'95 levels bad. And I'm usually a defender of modern SNL. I'm looking forward to what Bob has to say about it.
BlackFlagg 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2007 and what was the point of having the Foo Fighters as musical guest if they were gonna have Jovi perform twice? Why not just have him do both.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2007 I was at a Bat Mitzvah in Chi-Town (Hi Czech!) so I missed it. Will DVR today. I heard the first half was good, but it tailed off after WU. And that Foo Fighters only got one song because of something with their equipment
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2007 The only somewhat decent parts of the night was Jason Sudeikis' Dane Cook impression and The Iconoclasts sketch which I got a bit of a kick out of for some reason.
treble 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2007 It seems like they've had a problem with pacing in the past few episodes. And I don't know if it's just me, but Update seems to keep going, but that just might be my imagination. I actually liked last night's episode more than last week's. The only thing that was really terrible was the Al Gore sketch.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 As unenthused as I've been about the first three shows of the season ( I liked LeBron/Kanye, thought Seth Rogen's episode was just kind of there and I hated last night's), I'm really pumped for the next three hosts, if the writers can't get at least two good shows out of the next three with those hosts (Brian Williams on 11/3, Rock on 11/10, and Jonah Hill on 11/17), I think almost all hope is lost for the season. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 All the November episodes have lots of potential. Brian Williams has a great sense of humour and will try hard, and The Rock and Jonah Hill are awesome. I liked Lebron and Seth, but I'm not rushing to watch BonJovi. Of course, had they cut Seth better, it would've been a great show
Mik 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 Where are the damn SNL threads, I barely find the comments in here. I loved Iconoclasts. That shit had me DYING. The digital short was funny and there were a few other skits that I liked, but I'm having a hard time remembering. The only thing I ended up fast forwarding through was the Al Gore skit. devo 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 The first episode of The Price is Right with Drew Carey as the host aired today. He's really, really good at it. My favorite line... Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 I looooved SNL this week. Granted, I didn't pay attention 100% but what I saw was gold. The Digital Short was probably the best they've done. Just so incredibly whacky and insane. The "Bon Jovi" skit made me laugh. Iconoclasts was great. The two Dane Cook shorts were fantastic. The other major thing that no one's mentioned was Fred Amisen's character on Update. I dunno if they've done that "Political Comedian" thing before...but that was BRILLIANT. Just the way he made it seem like he was making a point without making any kind of point at all was fantastic.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 I wouldn't be surprised if CBS puts it on their website, but I'm sure you'll find clips on YouTube. I thought he did well; he probably was really nervous and talked a bit too fast at points, but he plays off the contestants well (wonder how he'll handle those people that take forever to make up their minds on some of the games). Once he settles in to the role, he'll be fine.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 I just heard a radio commercial for a stand up comedy appearence by the guy who played Biff in Back To The Future which cracked me up for some reason.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 I watched the Bon Jovi SNL last night and liked it. The awesomeness of the Digital Short put it over the top. I'm going away for a few days but I'll do my best to have both reviews up soon.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2007 I watched some of the skits over the past few days on YouTube and on NBC.com and my opinion of the show has definitely changed. I still think it's the worst show of the year but there were a few decent moments and it wasn't an 04-05 level abomination. There were only two outright misfires (The tired Al Gore skit and the "Where's My Purse?" sketch) of the night and the rest was just generally forgettable outside of the Dane Cook MLB Playoff commercial spoofs and Fred Armisen's bit on Weekend Update. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Kal Penn wasn't that bad in Superman Returns more awkward. I remember someone saying he did it because he desparately wanted to be in the movie and would take any part in the movie but you think they could have given him a line or two. Kal Penn isn't a big star by any stretch of the imagination but it was still really really odd to me that he had no lines in that movie. Mr. Luthor, we have to get to White Castle!
