The Steve Martin episode of SNL from this weekend was beyond atrocious. Just terrible.

Martin himself was better than I expected but the only remotely funny parts of the show were the Gun sketch and the Angelina Jolie and Gov. Paterson impressions on Update.

I used to think that Kristin Wiig was awesome but now I just wish she'd be fired. 95% of her characters have the exact same mannerisms and very similar voices and are just retarded and unfunny.

My mom used to deliver mail and packages to Chevy Chase. We'd get X-Mas cards with a picture of his whole family on them with a, "The Chase Family wishes you a Merry Holidays!". There was always a $300 check with them.

Well, Cops and Robbersons, Nothing But Trouble, and Oh Heavenly Dog show us that Chevy Chase is no arbiter of cinematic quality.

Speaking of Chevy, has anybody read the authorized biography on him that came out a year or so ago? I'm really curious to read it given all of the stuff I've read about him being a massive asshole.

I read it and loved it. It was a great fast read.

Chevy Chase's oldest daughter is really ugly. She's kind of weird too

I couldn't find the SAW 5 thread, but I got around to watching it last night. It was more of a "What Happen, How, and Why" Movie mainly showing how Hoffman met Jigsaw, where's Jeff's little girl, why Hoffman got recruited, how Jigsaw was able to do some of his work, etc. because YES this has been asked on forums about how got some of his big "Missing Pieces" people or victims into his traps of judgment so this film explains ALOT. It was really gory. I cringed watching the first trap with that dude's guts flying everywhere. The drug addict guy was pretty funny and the ending was badass. So all in all, it was way better than the previous film.

Holy fuck Apaloosa was not good. I mean, you'd think one can't miss with a combination of Ed Harris, Jeremy Irons and Viggo Mortennson, right?

Wrong. It misses horribly. Also the fact that Renee "Dealbreaker" Zellewegger is in it doesn't help. Just insanely slow and boring.

The problem with Appaloosa is that the ending occurs 50 minutes into the film. The rest is anti-climatic.

I thought Renee Zellweger was fine as the femme fatale.

Renee Zellweger is never fine as anything. She's like a chubby, squinty, Sally Field.

I love Renee, I think Bridget Jones is fantastic, and I loved her in Chicago and Cold Mountain.

New In Town...we all make mistakes.

I got sucked into watching Meet the Spartans this week. And it really REALLY made me feel like I could write a movie. I understand that the reference movies that are out just go for the lowest form of comedy...but the crapper was an hour long and didn't have a real laugh in it.

Honestly I'm tossing around the idea of trying to write something after seeing this major piece of shit

My first project was a goofy, slapstick, reference filled movie too. It had bad acting and awful sound, but it was still better than Meet the Spartans (the only "* Movie" movie that I've seen).

Yeah, my friend's first (abandoned) project was nothing but parodies, though only one of them was direct (Matrix). Everything else was just a vague "how about this idea..." by an executive and then we saw the result. The only parts he ever really used was a video mix he made for a compilation video that involved me being whipped into the side of a garbage multiple times and such in the backyard wrestling parody. Good times.

I'm going to be seeing FANBOYS this weekend, 3 years after I first saw the trailer, and I'm not too excited. The story has changed 3 times over the the 3 years, it's a PG-13 comedy and it got thrown into limited release. Yeah, that's a lot to be excited about.
