Comments that which don't warrant a thread

I'm fine with movies being redone that are about short stories or books. Now if the Birds was just, you know, a Hitchcock thought up idea and everything then I might be a tad bit annoyed. But it's a short story so let em, I've already got the vision I respect and like.

Doesn't anybody remember that god-awful Psycho remake ?

I didn't really think it was, but that was the problem. It was just shot for shot, with a couple exceptions, and so more pointless than bad. Although the reveal of Vince Vaughn in drag did draw laughter, so that's not good.

If you're going to remake a Hitchcock movie, do Rear Window. They already did with the movie Disturbia, just not in name. Even the Simpsons based on it was good. It's a good story, room to improvise.

I was really interested in the movie "The Mist" for the first minute of the preview. But then the last two minutes that reveals EVERYTHING about the film including what was in the mist, who dies, and how people react to it just killed all my interest dead.

Never before have I went from "Ok, this is awesome" to "Well, screw that then" in the span of one trailer but that is exactly what happened here. If you haven't seen the long trailer and you really want to see the movie, avoid the long one at all costs.

well yeah but it sounds like it's a good thing you DID see the long trailer rather than waste time and money at the movie itself! Did it at least look cool to you, still?

Jim Gaffigan added some Canadian tour dates, finally. No way I'm missing the Ottawa show.

Thanks for the heads up...I'm definitely going to the Montreal show.

Ottawa tickets just went on sale and I'm right in the front row.

They already did a remake as a TV movie back in '98 or so with Christopher Reeve and Daryl Hannah.

No, not at all but I didn't expect great effects or anything like that. With all the suspense of what is in the mist gone, I just lost all interest and it didn't look like it was worth seeing anymore. Usually the coolest thing about those films IS the suspense and not the payoff. I've sat through some pretty lousy pay-offs but I was fine with them because at least the suspense leading up to it was good. But with the suspense gone, it just isn't cool anymore. It's just there now.

Had they not shown me the giant bug creatures and gargoyles, I would have went to the film and not been a bit upset when they showed up. Now? Not interested. Plus, Andre gets in the movie and they show his DEATH in the trailer?? COME ON! He was like the only damn black guy in the supermarket and he dies in the fucking PREVIEW!

When he was crippled? That's interesting. Still, they can remake it again.

Speaking of tv movies, y'know, they used to be good. In the 70s and most of the 80s, there were a lot of tv movies I wouldn't mind watching today. Then it all sucked. My favorite one is Bad Ronald. Hey, they should remake that. It's based on a book, and it really happened. Fair game!

Yes, I saw that version. They did it where his character became paralyzed and he had nothing to do but look out his window at his neighbors. It wasn't bad, but I think they changed the ending.

Can anyone explain why AMC has such a hard-on for airing the horrible Pinata: Survival Island? I just don't get how such a bad and random shitty film gets put on this channel such as this. It's on right now as part of the Monster Bash or whatever its called.

That was on Five US the other day, I tuned it expecting the orginal and got that instead. I felt robbed.

As for Pinata, that film is all kinds of awesome, it used to be on the Horror Channel all the time when I was a student.

I am totally rocking out to the digital cable music channel "Maxtrax Party". Halloween themed songs! That's probably more of a Music Folder comment but A. I never go there B. This is a TV channel.

Ghostbusters theme (with commercial dialogue intro) followed by "This is Halloween" from "The Nightmare Before" (according to the channel information).. good stuff. I wonder what's next.

It's REALLY campy and over the top cheesy, which normally I like, but I dunno, something about it just comes off as extremely lame to me. Just not very entertaining considering the really bad Pinata effects. It's like I can't even suspend disbelief whatsoever that the way the story goes is even happening at all when it cuts to animated shots of a badly CGI'd killer Pinata monster. More than the fact that its playing on TV, what just confuses me is why AMC of all channels shows it and plus, it seems like it's on WAY too much.

The episode of Married... With Children that was just on CMT had Giovanni Ribisi (credited as 'Vonni') and one of the girls from Good Morning Miss Bliss on it.

Who also popped up in an episode of X-Files, which also had Jack Black in the same episode - I'm pretty sure Jack Black has appeared at least twice as different characters in the X-Files.

There's also a link between ER, X-Files and Lost in terms of actor usage.

Best friend lent me Brotherhood:Season One on DVD. It's really not good. It has its moments once in a while but the acting is atrocious and the writing isn'tmuch better. There isn't a single likeable character on the damn show. Sure, The Wire doesn't have very many likeable characters but almost all of them are compelling. Brotherhood has just a bunch of one dimensional jerks. And Ethan Embry as a streetwise cop is downright awful casting. And Jason Issacs can't do an accent worth shit.

Damn my friend! I introduce him to The Wire and he introduces me to this. Damn him! That bastard!

Does Vince Vaughn have to say "let's make bad decisions" in some variation in every single fucking movie he makes? It's irritating.

Oh fuck yes. Don't know whether this goes should go here or in music but I had to announce it somewhere;

I just got tickets to see Christopher Guest play songs from This Is Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind, and Waiting For Guffman with students and faculty from Berkee School of Music on November 30th in Boston.

So pumped for it especially since it's a one off event.
