Special K 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 Just watched it for the first time. The procedural part was... OK. But it is the schwaltziest fucking show! Lots of long tearful looks, fuck, is this what AD got cancelled for? Fuck this show! I could accept Law & Order as a procederal, but this show? It fucking sucks! Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 How exactly is CSI @ fault for AD's failure to connect beyond a niche internet fanbase? I don't think they ever went head to head either.
Special K 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 Oh, no it isn't really (related). I'm just pissed (I watched tonight's epi) that this show gets monster ratings, when it's really corny, and AD got cancelled because no one would watch it. It's more like "This is what you watch instead of AD?" sort of thing.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 I may be the only one, but CSI is suffering from a MAJOR case of "going through the motions" lately. It needs to trim the cast and get some life back into the body before it's just a shelled out corpse. The SpikeTV episodes allowed me to catch up and it's pretty good. Some episodes are ho-hum and this Thursdays episode was just kinda there even WITH Lem and Darla running around.
Mole 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 I don't understand why it's the #1 show either. My parents love this show and I don't get it.

Lots of long tearful looks, fuck, is this what AD got cancelled for? Fuck this show! I could accept Law & Order as a procederal, but this show? It fucking sucks! This show actually takes more than one show for one to appreciate it. Trust me, I felt the same way after seeing only one ep. Well, except for the AD part, because it wasn't cancelled at the time. Oh, no it isn't really (related). I'm just pissed (I watched tonight's epi) that this show gets monster ratings, when it's really corny, and AD got cancelled because no one would watch it. It's popular because the show managed to hit upon a formula that works. The producers basically said "let's take Law & Order, throw out the courtroom part, add some computer graphics, and see how it works out". I may be the only one, but CSI is suffering from a MAJOR case of "going through the motions" lately. It needs to trim the cast and get some life back into the body before it's just a shelled out corpse. You're right about that. The older eps were much better than this season. The best thing about this season is trying to guess what bad hair/facial style George Eads would spring on us on any given week. CSI: NY and CSI: Miami have actually been more entertaining, and that may be because they've been adding in more continuity lately. Anyways, the best procedural on TV (IMO) is Numb3rs. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted May 8, 2006 I thought American Idol was highest rated.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 8, 2006 I've listened to the CSI show many times but have never actually watched much of it. The thing is the show doesn't present any scenario or enviornment that intrigues me enough to watch. Been there, done that.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 The American Dad rip on Arrested Development was funny last night: Francine: "Steve is America and you're (Stan) Arrested Development. It doesn't mean you're bad, it just means he's not interested in you." I like CSI and CSI NY but my favorite show now is Bones..
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 The weird thing about CSI is I don't know ANYONE who watches it, yet it's so popular. Like I'll be with people and we'll say stuff like, "So did you see Lost/American Idol/Family Guy/The Sopranos/South Park last night??", but you never hear.."Dude that CSI episode last night was SO awesome!" MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 Forensic Files/New Detectives/Discovery shows > CSI In general those shows are boring because it shows how creative CSI and the like are with them collecting evidence since in most cases its not nearly as sophisticated yet in 99% of the country. I do occasionally watch the forensics show thats on HDNet though.
Dr. Zaius 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 I've only watched CSI when they showed the reruns of it before Raw, but it seemed like a good show to me. Since it is episodic plot driven, rather than character or storyarc driven, its easy to tune in to without having to know a ton of backstory and get sucked into an episode. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted May 9, 2006 Many of my co-workers watch CSI, but I guess it's not the daily conversation tye piece every week.. unlike a show like AI. I don't know. I don't watch any of this shit.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 I like CSI but I think Without a Trace is far and away the best procedurial.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 CSI, like Leena said isn't a water-cooler type of show. That doesn't mean it doesn't have a fanbase. It obviously has a fanbase if they can produce 3 different shows under the franchise name. Actually, I am shocked that over all these years, NBC never did a ER spinoff. They had countless characters/situations that would have fit the spin-off model.
Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 What I really like about ER is that it's a true "ensemble" show, in that there is no one character that the show has ever been built around, so actors can come and go. This season, there isn't a single actor in the "regular" cast that was part of the original cast; if the ratings are still strong for this show, they could probably keep going as long as they want to. And HMW, count me as another "internet" guy who doesn't care about AD or CSI.
randomguy 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 CSI was pretty decent the first few seasons. After they started up CSI:Miami and NY the show started going to shit and the cast knows it, the main dude (Grissom, Peterson in real life) has given interviews bitching about the lack of quality. I'm not a big fan of network TV and procedurals but it wasn't too bad at first. Also at the time it came out it was pretty novel.

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 Arrested Development was terrible. You're an idiot. This season, there isn't a single actor in the "regular" cast that was part of the original cast; if the ratings are still strong for this show, they could probably keep going as long as they want to. Without a Trace has been kicking its ass for two seasons now. It really is time to let ER die.
Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 Maybe William Peterson should complain to the executive producer about it. (He's one of the EPs) An EP is just a title in many cases, it's usually written into a lead star's contract. Also this is from the Producer's Guild of America's FAQ: What does an Executive Producer do? An Executive Producer supervises, either on his own authority (entrepreneur executive producer) or subject to the authority of an employer (employee executive producer) one or more producers in the performance of all of his/her/their producer functions on single or multiple productions. In television, an Executive Producer may also be the Creator/Writer of a series.

Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 The only network programming I watch anymore consists of sports and if I happen to catch any of the current crop of out-of-studio NBC sitcoms. I don't make it a point to watch 'em though.
