Anyone See the X3 7 Minute Preview...

Recommended Posts

Looks pretty good...Dialogue scenes with Beast and Logan play out nicely, Grammar actually carries himself pretty well as Beast.

Anybody else see it?

For those of you who don't want to go through a thinly disguised sex-cam site:

I'd rather download than go through YouTube or any other streaming video site. Streaming video is always hell for me; lagging like crazy.

Also, for those interested, there are some new clips here: http://media.filmforce.ign.com/media/040/040731/vids_1.html

In any case, the preview was very, very well done; certainly got me wanting to see the film. Most noteworthy were Magneto -- Sir Ian McKellen's connection to the character (he loathes the idea of a cure just like the character, equating, like Bryan Singer, being a mutant to being a homosexual) -- and Beast & Logan's interactions.

Beast: I've been fighting for mutant rights since before you had claws, boy.

Wolverine: Okay. Did... he just call me a "boy"??

The pictures for Beast always look incredibly silly, but it's not until you see him walking and talking intelligently that it all comes together.

Storm was surprising; she stood up for her beliefs in a believable manner, though some could argue she was over-dramatic. Then again, given the situation...who wouldn't be? I like Rogue being interested in the cure, as that fits her character. They once did that in Ultimate X-Men but chickened out, with she giving the excuse of 'atoning for her sins' or some shit.

I especially enjoyed Pyro being the right-hand man of Magneto. His attitude and total badassness (not to mention a new spiderman-esque way of creating fire) shows he's been taught quite well by Magneto.

By the way, perhaps this is something known more to the comics group but, what is "Class 3"? I'm guessing it accounts for how dangerous a mutant is, and if so, what are the rest of the classes?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtUwxCng9Uk

Let it load before you play, or the sound syncing will be a little off.

Also, if you don't want to go through megaupload, then go here, to Movie Box. Scroll down to the DELL entry, and watch the preview and while it's playing, right click in the movie part, go to Properties, copy the address, and paste it in your address bar. It should then load up the movie in your Windows Media Player, at which point just File -> Save As. It is around 62mb.

I just found out that they aren't releasing the movie tie-in book untill the same day the movie comes out. That just makes no sense, and would seem to me that the studio doesn't have the confidence in the movie they had with the last two.

Rogue looking for a cure was also used in the 90's animated series, and it makes perfect sense. Who would want powers that prohibit you from touching anyone?

I'm calling it right now, having not read any spoilers. The "Doctor" that was trying to inject the "cure" into Warren Worthington will end up being Apocalypse. There was a similar plot to this in the 90's animated series.

But yea, you would think Rogue would be one of the most willing to give up her powers since she is basically a living leech.

I'm calling it right now, Ebert will review it and not understand why the mutants don't want to be "cured". Even after it is explained, he won't get it.

And the cure isn't inspired by the cartoon, it's a basic plot from the comics and life in general. It really seems like Ian is going to rip the screen apart as I'm sure he has been questioned by some short sighted people about being "cured". I'm really expecting a lot of emotion to come out of him and turn Magneto into the ultimate badass villian that you understand why he's doing what he's doing.

Everything they have done with Magneto in the X-Men movie franchise has been perfect. I questioned the casting of him at first but now, no chance in hell can I question it. The guy is perfect in every way for the role.

Fox just had a commercial for X3 during Family Guy that showed Iceman and Pyro going at it- it looks awesome.

That is all.

That's because Apocalypse was behind it in the comics. Its how he got his 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

I like the idea of the cure. It fits in with the theme of the series and sounds like a good way to tie the series up. The military vs. the Brotherhood with the X-Men stuck in the middle is going to be a good end to it all.

I've read a lot of the spoilers and the one thing I don't like is the Phoenix stuff. It just seems completely pointless.

She returns, kills Cyclops, kills the Professor and then participates in the final battle and none of this has anything to do with the cure. From what I've read she just kinda tags along with Magneto.

. From the looks of it she is there just to be there. Like since they killed Jean in X2 and hinted at this they have to go through with it. The biggest complaint I've seen from people that have seen early screenings is the pacing, there is too much story and not enough time to tell it. It sounds like most of the cast barely gets any screen time because they're moving along so quickly. Even some of the new characters like Angel who they hype up as being important are supposedly only in the movie for a few scenes. They could have just kept Jean dead and told the same story. With so much it do in just one movie they should have kept the focus on the cure and how the mutants choose to deal with it, not waste time on with a subplot about Jean.

There's an almost desperate amount of clips available online now. I mean, IESB.net has 18 clips available, and The Movie Box lists a lot more. Quite insane.

Personally, I think of X3 as the fanboy's wishlist. They've wanted Angel in the first two films...now they have him. I've heard that some were complaining that Storm never flies (hence Magneto's line in X2) ... now she does this twirly-tornado thingy (and flies in the end finale). Not to mention the inevitable Pyro-Iceman battle. The Morlocks seem involved as well (spoiler: Spike dies... which is good; I hated the guy in X:Evo).

What is the Brotherhood actually called in here?

Aside from "Brotherhood of Mutants," most of the variations sound pretty stupid.

Like, "Brotherhood of Evil Mutants."

The old cartoon that never went beyond the pilot (with Kitty and the Aussie Wolverine) called them the "Brotherhood of Mutant Terrorists," which I thought was kind of funny.

It's pretty bad overall.

Just "The Brotherhood". A lot better than any goofy variation. Brotherhood of Evil Mutants is so 60's.

The X-Men arcade beat em up with Dazzler I was talking to you about was based on that pilot.

May 22, 2006 - You're planning to see X-Men: The Last Stand this weekend, right? We expect most of you are. That being the case, apart from our regular reporting on the movie, IGN FilmForce now asks you to do one important thing. If you're an X-Men fan, you'll regret it if you don't! At the theater this weekend, when the credits roll, when the audiences begins to filter out of the exits... keep your seat. And then, perhaps, share this little secret with a few of your friends: the movie isn't over.

We don't want to spoil anything for you, but we want you to know that the scene that follows isn't your typical post-credits tack-on. It's a coda for one of the main characters. The scene is maybe 30 seconds in length, but it's enough. And it will surely be one of the more talked moments in the fan community.

Think you know what this scene is? Guess all you want, but chances are that you won't see it coming.

Major mutant war happens this Friday! Wolverine yells, "Hold the line!" - that stand's not easy. All you have to do is hold on through the end credits - that's much easier. You don't want miss the coda!
