benn 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 If the Sci-fi channel is the only place WWE can find to air ECW, then it'd be better of as a webcast on WWE.com(instead of a speciality channel which doesn't suit wrestling.) There is still a chance it could end up on USA, but either way it won't affect the UK. There is no way that they can successfully relaunch the ECW brand without a tv deal, no matter what channel its on. Particularly if this is a move to try and compete with TNA. JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 The words Science and Fiction around Vince McMahon scare me. A lot. And any 'cool points' ECW potentially had have now evaporated at the prospect of people hyping 'wrestling on the science fiction channel'. "Man, if you wanna watch something really cool, put it on the Science Fiction Channel!" That's hardcore, that's hardcore. It isn't really that big of a deal. It's just as strange as WWE being on NBC earlier this year. Did you see Kane show up on Will & Grace? It is simply the channel that will carry the program, it won't have any effect on the actual product or influence on the presentation.

Right, it makes as much sense as ECW and WWF airing on The Nashville Network or when WWE was airing on a station that didn't even have a name (remember the Network for Men?). A television deal is a television deal. I'll be happy just to see some form of ECW on television again. Besides, back in its heyday, ECW was on very weird stations in syndication and people still found it.

JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 I doubt it. Those who already have the Sci-Fi Channel will watch it and I doubt ECW is enough for people without the Sci-Fi Channel to want it.

justcoz 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 I doubt it. Those who already have the Sci-Fi Channel will watch it and I doubt ECW is enough for people without the Sci-Fi Channel to want it. I'm sure there will be some wrestling or old ECW fans that will bug their cable operators to carry Sci-Fi Channel if it's not available to them already. And if ECW averages even just a 1.5, which shouldn't be a problem if they air some commercials during Raw, I'm sure it will improve Sci-Fi's ratings as a whole. From what I've read, Sci-Fi's best shows are usually right around 1.8 or 1.9. So, ECW would need to be in the 2.0s to make some type of impact on the channel. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 Speaking of ways we used to have to watch ECW. I used to watch it on AmericaOne Network, it wasn't a cable network, just some network I found out about by a fluke incident of manualy checking every channel an old tv in my mom's room could pick up. I came by channel 25, and they were showing USWA, so I went back at the same time the next day and it was Deep South Wrestling, next day WICCA(or something like that) and then finally the next day it was ECW.......the funniest thing was you could see that some local operator was in charge of the programming because 5mins before ECW would come on you would see the satellite grid come up for the Dish to be repositioning so he could pick up the feed from another channel.....haha. Either way glad to see it get a home of it's own. Now if it has it's own taping it would be ideal actually if they moved smackdown to sci fi and made smackdown nothing but gimmick wrestlers...the possibilities are ENDLESS Boogieman and so on... and get RVD to take over the role of Max Moon YESSS!! justcoz 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2006 About the Boogeyman, if ECW got their own tapings (a la OVW) Boogeyman would be over like gangbusters. I think this would be possible with Heyman booking him like he did in OVW. He would know enough to not put Boogeyman in long matches where he's exposed. I was thinking of someone from WWE to plug into a 911-type role. My first thought was Snitsky (who I think has actually improved in the ring since losing muscle mass) but maybe they could do that with Boogeyman since he's injury prone anyway. Yeah a 911-type is needed, I was hoping Matt Morgan could be brought it for that. Heyman would be able to protect Boogeyman's weaknesses, since that's what Paul E. does. Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2006 I expected they would end up on Sci Fi Channel. It's own by NBC Universal which also owns USA Network... They also run Bravo although I dont think wrestling fits in on Bravo. I cant wait for the taglines.. On the next Queer Eye for the Straight Guy we make over Sandman I don't know, it doesn't seem that weird to me. I bet people thought it was weird when Raw first showed up on USA. Why? USA has always just been a motley assortment of general interest stuff. They aired wrestling, tennis, Saturday morning cartoons (Cartoon Express!), The People's Court, Silk Stalkings, and $ale of the Century reruns, and of all that erstwhile programming, I probably miss $ale the most Let's not forget USA Up All Night Speaking of ways we used to have to watch ECW. I used to watch it on AmericaOne Network, it wasn't a cable network, just some network I found out about by a fluke incident of manualy checking every channel an old tv in my mom's room could pick up. NoCal, I remember that, I thought the satellite shift was after they showed ECW. I too found it on a flukethe summer of 99 and I got a cheap ass antenna at Radio Shack for my new tv because I didn't have cable in my room and one day picked up the signal and marked out when I saw the ECW logo in the corner, since Ced had been telling me about it for months at school.
