Hawk 34 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 That might have been the worst display of defensive I ever saw just now from Milwaukee. How can you not make that simple toss to first when Arroyo was literally walking towards the first base.
mike546 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 The Yankees haven't hit a home run in their last 5 games, and 7 innings.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Al, can you help me with something? My psychotic Yankee friend insists that his favorite player, Jason Giambi, is still on the upside of his career, and will play well into his 40's. Please concoct some sarcastic statement that shows he's nuts. You can start by showing him his most statistically similar player, Mo Vaughn. Almost no hitter peaks in his 30s, but Giambi could last until he's 40, given good health. Willie McCovey and Willie Stargell played into their 40s, although McCovey was awful his last three years. I can tell you Giambi's not getting any better than he is now.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 In the AA Eastern League, New Hampshire currently leads Connecticut 23-6 in the 7th inning.
Guest Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Vin Scully said on yesterday's broadcast that the Dodgers could be calling up Matt Kemp from AA Jacksonville. .350/.429/.567 with 10 steals, 6 HR's and 29 RBI's. I'd like to know more about him, because the Dodgers are continuing to churn out top prospects. He and Ethier in the OF would be great in the future.

Baseball America rated him as the eighth best prospect in the organization, noting his "ceiling is considerable and he could develop into a .275 hitter with 25-30 homers annually." His plate discipline might be an issue.
Bored Posted May 23, 2006 Author Report Posted May 23, 2006 Frank Thomas homers again in Chicago! Now 3 for 3 with two homeruns.
Cheech Tremendous Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I am loving this year's Red Sox team. Good defense, nice starting pitching, great bullpen (for once) - I'm not ready to declare the division theirs, but I am very optimistic about their upside.

Again, your playing a Yankee team thats basically 5 MLB players + a bunch of AAAers. Nothing to be proud of.

Right, because 4 meaningless runs in the ninth is an EXCELLENT barometer of the bullpen's effectiveness.
DMann2003 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 It's like Cincy just decided to get all their hitting frustration out in one night. Hope they didn't blow their load.

My question is why did Schilling go eight innings? mike himself said that the yanks are injury-riddled and starting AA players. Riske could use some work, Seanez needs to learn how to pitch. They had a six run lead into the eighth. Why risk burning out the ace in a "meaningful" May game?
Failed Bridge Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I can see why Yankees fans are excited about that Colter Bean kid... NOT!

I saw him strike out the side on Saturday in fact.
Guest Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Bonds just hit a single. When the pitch was thrown, I thought he was going to clobber it.

EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Schilling only threw 99 pitches. I doubt he's in danger of blowing out his arm, and why make a substitution you really don't need?
KingPK Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 He only threw 99 pitches, so it wasn't like this was a rehash of the Cleveland game. I actually thought he might have gone the distance. And I'm enjoying the bitching about A-Rod's "clutch" garbage time homer on the Yankee board I lurk at. Guy's gonna have to win about 40 games by himself and never make an error for the fans to get off his back. EDIT: FU Al.
Bored Posted May 23, 2006 Author Report Posted May 23, 2006 Bleh, well all the good feelings from early in the night go out the window. Street blows another save, A's lose in extra innings. This team is just in shambles due to injuries and they really do nothing well. Now Chavez and Swisher are slumping and they were basically carrying this team the first five weeks of the season. Thank god they play in the A.L. West as I guarentee no one in that division gets to 90 wins this year.

Again, your playing a Yankee team thats basically 5 MLB players + a bunch of AAAers. Nothing to be proud of. Liking this team is based on what I've seen for 40+ games, not a meaningless May thrashing of the Yankees. And seeing that the 5 MLB players left are still HOF caliber players you Yankee fans can quit making excuses.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I went out to watch the Spurs and Mavs, but does Dusty have to just give up on every game the Cubs are down? What logic is there in removing Matt Murton in favor of Freddie Bynum in the fifth inning? Against a team like Florida, no less, where you should never be conceding defeat. Any day now with that contract extension. And damn the A's for losing. I figured things were well in hand when I saw it was 4-1.
Cheech Tremendous Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Poor Bruiser. I suggest you remove all the sharp objects from your home.
Kismet Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Tigers were able to shut out the Royals tonight. Complete game for Verlander(1st one). Hopefully they can rack up the wins this week against KC and do well against Cleveland on the weekend, as the Yankees and Red Sox are the opponents the week after. And to show how little I pay attention to the local news, looks like my little town is getting the single A team of the Devil Rays next year. That's kinda cool.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 And I didn't realize until today's game just how much they gave up to snag a leadoff hitter with a OBP that's nearing the mid-200s. But it's okay, because once we get Prior and Lee back, things will be fine. And the Astros were crap last year and came back in the second half. Am I forgetting any of the other Jim Hendry propaganda?
Bored Posted May 23, 2006 Author Report Posted May 23, 2006 Obviously there's only one man to save the Cubs.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I'll take anyone. I'm just wondering how Gene Clines, the Cubs' alleged hitting instructor is still employed. I mean, the Indians fired Eddie Murray when the team got off to a slow offensive start and the Cubs have been MUCH worse. And yet, they remain. I'm beginning to accept that with a regime of Baker and his boys, in addition to Hendry and McPhail, this team isn't winning anytime soon.
