mike546 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 The Yankees need to stop worrying about going after starters at the trade deadline, and start thinking about relievers. Proctor blew another two-run lead in the bottom of the 8th. The relivers suck because they are all over worked because the starters don't pitch deep into games. the max 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 Scott Proctor got rocked. The only thing that the Yanks have enough in the system to trade for is a bullpen. Surely Melky Cabrera will fetch them a front-line starter!
Guest Report post Posted June 3, 2006 Melky Cabrera, Andy Phillips and Colter Bean for Dontrelle. They better offer that one up. Seriously, I don't even know if that package could fetch a mid-level starter.

devo 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 Chris Woodward's playing in right instead of Lastings Milledge. Probably for the best; Lastings has gone 1 for 11, striking out four times in those eleven at-bats. In retrospect, Victor Diaz probably should have been called up instead. Probably for the best; Lastings has gone 1 for 11, striking out four times in those eleven at-bats. In retrospect, Victor Diaz probably should have been called up instead. Coming into today, Carlos Delgado was 2 for his last 19. It's hard to tell anything from just 11 at bats.
devo 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 Sure, but at least Delgado's performance prior to that slump suggests that he'll eventually snap out of it. Milledge has no prior major league performance to speak of, and wasn't doing that hot in AAA either. It's not outrageous to suggest that he shouldn't have been brought up yet. Of course, Diaz has been struggling in AAA recently as well, so whattaya gonna do...

vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 'Stros are in danger of losing their 3rd in a row. Pettitte's having a shitty year, but, alas! there is good news: 1. The Cardinals GM released a statement saying that it's "very likely" that Pujols is headed to the DL. Tony LaRussa said that Pujols will be out at least 2 weeks, and he's hopeful that he won't be out for longer. I'm not glad that Pujols is hurt, because despite the fact that he kills the Astros and the other Central Division teams, he's a hell of a ballplayer and a classy guy. 2. The Cubbies are coming! The Cubbies are coming! Sweep! Sweep! SWEEEEEEEP!!!11!!!!11!! LOL2006!!!!!!!
naiwf 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 Milledge goes to the plate like he'll automatically be out after 4 pitches whether they're in the zone or not. He makes Jose Reyes 2005 look like a model of plate discipline. Tie game bottom 8, Reyes on 2nd w/no out. Of course the Mets do not score with Lo Duca/Delgado/Wright. I hate this fucking team right now.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 The Reds just smacked down the astros, and I'm very glad that albert is hurt, hopefully he's out all year.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 What makes Coffey nervous? ...Astros hitters. Seriously, if Freel didn't make that ridiculous catch...and Kearns before him, we woulda took that one. Preston Wilson grounding out on one pitch was horrible. And how can you be happy that Pujols is out? He's classy.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 I think we might find Kaz Matsui's corpse in the Shea Stadium parking lot one of these days. He's going to get killed by a fan sooner or later. Pujols is a great guy, Clemens is the one everyone should hope pulls up lame and misses the season. I don't want him crippled or anything, I just want the Astros left holding the bag because I'm sick of him and his "will he, won't he" BS.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 It's not his "will he, won't he" BS. It's ESPN and the sportswriters. However, they won't talk about him anymore because he's not going to be playing on the East Coast.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 For the ninth time this season, the Jays have a chance to sweep their first series. If they can't do it this time -- with their #2 starter going against Tampa Bay and a guy who hasn't won yet this season -- I don't know if they'll ever get a sweep. geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 I don't give a damn if albert is classy, I want the reds to win, that's all I care about. The reds have had plently of injuries, I'm all out of sympathy for the cards.
Mik 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 While I think it might be a good idea to trade Dontrelle to the Dodgers or D-Backs, apparently Larry Beinfest isn't even letting teams make offers for him. He cuts them off before they even get the chance. I think they are really serious about hanging on to him. I honestly think they'll be back around .500 as soon as next season - so it wouldn't be too bad to keep Dontrelle. And Cubs fans, if you want to feel even better about the Juan Pierre experience... check out what Ricky Nolasco did at Coors field tonight.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 Well, I want the Astros to win, too, but I mean...the guy has kids and all. If he's only out two weeks, I'll be happy, but I'd hate to see him out all year.

That Bonds fellow isn't on the east coast either, but he gets quite a share of their attention, doesn't he?

devo 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 Woodward hits a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th, ending the game at 3-2. Oddly enough, Lastings Milledge was the one who scored, as he pinch ran for Lo Duca on third base. Very nice slide from him, too. Really glad they pulled this one out. Coulda been a real drain on the team if they didn't.

strummer 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 I don't know the validity of this, but on the Philaphans message board they say that the Phillies are about to make a major deal involving Abreu or Burrell. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 If Pujols goes on the DL, the Cubs can't rest on the injury card. I get the feeling we're about to see how anemic the Cards' offense is without Pujols jammed in the middle. Scott Williamson's probably also going on the DL and I heard Wood's start for tomorrow has been pushed back again (I think), which would suggest he's hurting (what else is new)? But if Pujols is down for any stretch of time, this NL Central race just got a hell of a lot more interesting.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 Yep. Wood's next start is being pushed back to Tuesday against Houston.
Guest Report post Posted June 4, 2006 Is Wood one of the bigger flameouts ever? Sad thing is, is with the way he throws, everyone should have seen it coming. You can't throw across your body forever.
