Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 So with Wandy coming to the UFC, what are the chances we can see Fedor in the UFC now???
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 None. The guy would destroy their division, something I don't think Dana believes will be good for business.
Mik 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 I just watched a few of the Silva videos on YouTube to brush up and he looks pretty badass. I don't like how in some of the matches the guy appears to be just cowering on the ground and he's just reigning in kicks to the face. I mean, it's bad ass and all, but also seems like not much of a fight. Who was that running away from him like a little girl?
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Shungo Oyama, I believe.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 They better have a badass main event for whatever card Monson vs Sylvia is on because there's no way in fuck that thing will sell a PPV on its own. Monson supposedly wants nothing to do with Sylvia on accunt of the height difference, so Vera is likely next in line.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Will more PRIDE fighters be coming to UFC you think?? Is Wandy still in the OWGP??? I'm confused as hell... I'm putting big time money on Wandy.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Tito Ortiz Vs Ken Shamrock - UFC 61 Damn that was weak.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Just finished watching the press conference on The Fight Network, some interesting things...... - Dana doesn't own any PRIDE footage but has been given permission to use it in order to hype Wanderlei up. Said he couldn't talk any more about it but he'd have info for us on Monday. Rumours are right now that Wanderlei has inked a 3 fight deal with UFC. - Tito said "Another 2 or 3 elbows and I might've been the first person to kill somebody in the octagon". - Dana all but admitted it was a poor show but said that you can't expect to continue the roll you've been on for a while. - They hyped Monson up as the next challenger for Sylvia's title. Tim said he was a LHW fighting at HW and he'd get KO'd.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 They should just put Sylvia Vs. Monson on a UFN, no one would pay for that unless Anderson Silva Vs. Rich Franklin is the main event...
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 My girlfriend was pissed at the "premature" stoppage. Not because she wanted Shamrock to win but because she wanted to see him get pounded and beaten a little more.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Your gf must've wanted to see Ken get his head caved in.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Yeah she hates Ken Shamrock after watching TUF3. The way she put it made sense, especially after Dana mentioned Ken was only there to fight Tito. She said that Ken screwed all the kids on his team over with his shitty conditioning and the fact that he didn't teach them submissions and that it wasn't fair to those guys and they might've won if they were on Tito's team. Plus she thinks he's a jackass. The stoppage looked premature last night but now looking back on it it's like "It's either stopped now or 5 seconds later" so it wasn't a big deal. And I don't think it was worked. Can't they go to jail for working a real sporting event that people are betting on?
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Anybody who says it was worked is fucking retarded. If it was worked so they could have a third fight wouldn't Tito be the one losing instead of Ken?
randomguy 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Ken lost in the exact same way he lost his last couple fights before this one, so were those works too? He lost to Franklin the same way, got hit once and didn't cover up. Lost in Japan the same way. That's how it goes with Shamrock now.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 I didn't say it was worked. There were people all over Meltzer's site claiming it was a work and I thought it was stupid that anyone would suggest it.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 The ortiz, shamrock thing.. he hit like 2 of those elbows and then was just connecting with arms. That was a bad stop.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 The ortiz, shamrock thing.. he hit like 2 of those elbows and then was just connecting with arms. That was a bad stop. Are you blind? He landed 4 elbows to his head. Shamrock was in a bad place, and had no chance of getting out. He wasn't even defending himself. Even Randy Courture said it was a good stoppage. Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 Anybody who says it was worked is fucking retarded. If it was worked so they could have a third fight wouldn't Tito be the one losing instead of Ken? While I don't *really* believe this was a work (or 100% work, anyways) if Tito lost it would make him look like a joke for his other big money matches with Liddell, Silva (if he really ends up coming to UFC...I'm not so sure. Saku anyone?). If this was worked then I am impressed with how they went about it because a third match could still draw due to the "controversy" while Tito comes out looking great. razazteca 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 At least this time Ken Shamrock did not take the dive literally like he did in the Rich Franklin fight.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 You mean missing the high kick and not recovering from the shots he took?

razazteca 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 Shamrock did it twice in the Franklin fight. The first time it happened Rich let him get up but the second time it happened Franklin went for the ground and pound.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 Actually, IIRC, the first time Shamrock went down was from a jab to his forehead as he was on his toes.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 - They hyped Monson up as the next challenger for Sylvia's title. Tim said he was a LHW fighting at HW and he'd get KO'd. So if Vera gets a title shot and whups his ass well he have an excuse?
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 I imagine they'll put Vera up against somebody like Mir or Buentello in the future before giving him a title shot. But until he loses that shot he'll stay at HW.
randomguy 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 In the Franklin fight a couple other guys slipped earlier in the night, looked like the mat was slick/sweaty or something.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 I imagine they'll put Vera up against somebody like Mir or Buentello in the future before giving him a title shot. But until he loses that shot he'll stay at HW. Why not make Arlovski Vs. Vera??? Anyone thinks Vera is ready for the likes of Arlovski?
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 If the guy isn't ready for Arlovski now, he won't ever be. They have to make that fight now. That seems to be the most logical, either that or put him with Buentello, then Arlovski. He should get a title shot within the first half of 2007. If only he were like 20 lbs heavier, and not in the Frank Mir way.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 So what if they put their top contenders against Arlvoski and he kills them all meanwhile big Timmy has destroyed all his challengers.....do we really have to sit through that fight again?
