Your Paragon of Virtue Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Fix the third link please, it looks prettier.
naiwf Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Oh shit, Silva actually missed a punch on Leben's way down. AWE-SOME! I won't be able to watch the show until Saturday, but watching Leben get beaten like a redheaded stepchild made my night.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Poor Brian. I don't think he wants to come back into this thread and have to see all that again.
AmericanDragon Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Full fight. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6012808795739873086
randomguy Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 In the second gif you can see that even before the kick to the side of the head Leben took two good shots. He got punched in the face twice, kept moving forward and not protecting, got kicked in the head, kept moving forward and not protecting, then got popped twice more in the face and once more to the temple. Maybe this will teach him that when he gets hit hard he should stop advancing for a second or at least cover up instead of leaning forward and throwing slow ugly hooks. He fought like a guy who has never really taken a set of strong shots before, like he could just wade through them and keep going.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 Dana White announced the fighters for TUF4.
randomguy Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Thanks for the google link. Some more observations: Leben is throwing mostly big sweeping hooks, whereas Silva threw basically all straight punches. Silva looks to be a lot faster and more accurate than Leben and that just accentuates the difference. The first whiff from Leben didn't come within 2 feet of hitting Silva - missed by a mile. Hooks are good some times(like when a guy has his hands up in front of his face, or you are in close) but a guy throwing all wild hooks is the sign of a brawler. Leben was just beat to the punch a bunch of times while winding up, or nailed with a stiff straight punch while trying to close distance. A couple times it looked like Leben was stepping in to throw a big hook and instead got tagged twice by two efficient straights. Silva looked pretty natural but Leben looked kind of confused from the outset. I wonder how many leftys Leben has fought? He looked totally lost. I'm not sure what he was doing when he went to the ground, it didn't look like a takedown attempt, just some off-balance flailing.
Guest Brian Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!! That is all. For now. Me and Mamazinho go smoke.
Lord of The Curry Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 It is not a good week to be in the Pac NW. Thank god McDonald and Hominick evened out the Stout tooling and Goulet helped top us off. Hominick should get the first shot at the newly crowned LW champ if the Sherk/Florian fight is going ahead.
AboveAverage484 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Silva is so accurate in his strikes. I think people will begin to start to jump on his band wagon like they did with Loiseau, but he has a much better chance of beating Franklin than Loiseau did. It all depends on a number of variables, but I still think Franklin should take it, though it could just as well be won by Silva. Surprised at how shitty Bonnar looked, but I'm sort of happy since I'm biased against the TUF guys anyway. Nothing else on the card was too surprising, solid night of action. Can't wait to catch UFC 61 at the Hooters in Myrtle Beach next week!
Lt. Al Giardello Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 Not alot of people were expecting Loiseau to beat Franklin though. Alot of them were just saying, "Loiseau *could* drop and elbow and cut Franklin bad". Even before this fight, people were saying Silva could beat Franklin.
Damaramu Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 It looked like the knee KO'd him not just hurt him. He didn't look very coherent after he went down. I'd never seen Silva before tonight. Now I gay for him.
AmericanDragon Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I think some people have seen this already but I'm posting it again anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82aL3J4IblA...nderson%20silva
AboveAverage484 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 For some reason I always loved the fight from Pride 21 where Silva opened a hideous gash on Alex Steibling as a result of a high kick. Good stuff. On a side note, is RRR banned, or just suspended for an unspecified amount of time?
starvenger Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Dana White announced the fighters for TUF4. I must've missed that. Got a link? <sees other thread> Um, nevermind. Thank god McDonald and Hominick evened out the Stout tooling and Goulet helped top us off. Hominick should get the first shot at the newly crowned LW champ if the Sherk/Florian fight is going ahead. But... isn't Pulver still the LW champ? Surprised at how shitty Bonnar looked, but I'm sort of happy since I'm biased against the TUF guys anyway. To be fair, Evans has proved before that he's got some great wrestling skills, and he showed it again last night. But again, he's showed no improvement in the finishing department, which is a shame because those were some nice slams. Thank god McDonald and Hominick evened out the Stout tooling and Goulet helped top us off. Hominick should get the first shot at the newly crowned LW champ if the Sherk/Florian fight is going ahead. Emma's cousin got in a nice belly-to-belly suplay in beating up Kristian...
Guest Oneironaut Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I don't suppose anyone has a link to the Cummo/Goulet fight? I searched Youtube and google video but couldn't find anything. Thanks..
Lord of The Curry Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 starvenger- Yes, Pulver still technically has the belt but I'm pretty sure he was stripped of it. All reports have been pointing towards Sherk getting a shot at the vacant title at his new weight class and the winner of Stout/Florian was supposedly the one who'd challenge him.
Lord of The Curry Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 benoitrulz- Rudo quit the board. He's DVDVR exclusive now. Blame the WWE Folder MOD's.
AboveAverage484 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 benoitrulz- Rudo quit the board. He's DVDVR exclusive now. Blame the WWE Folder MOD's. I HATE the DVDR MMA board. Too many people who've been watching since TUF started that now think they're experts.
Damaramu Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Lee Murray also taped out Jorge Rivera in less then 2 min's, but he's problay best known to MMA fans, for knocking out Tito Ortiz outside the club. I gotta hear this story.
Damaramu Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Is it possible to score a bout 29-29? If the round winner gets 10 points and the other gets 9 or less.....then how could a judge give someone a 29-29?
Lei Tong Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Judges are allowed to score a round even at 10-10, though it's generally discouraged.
jwpeer Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Lei Tong, your avatar sucks. I almost wish Leben had won if only so I don't have to stare at that thing for the course of your bet repayment.

There hasn't been a draw in UFC since Vernon White/Ian Freeman about three years ago, IIRC.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 Man after watching some episodes of TUF1 today, I just look back and laugh at Chris now. Thank you Anderson Silva!

Lord of The Curry Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Ouch. I want to look at the breakdowns just to see how many people gradually tuned out of Bonnar/Evans once they realized it was destination Lay and Prayville.
