keith6601 Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 Have RVD "relive" the original birth of ECW, with Douglas throwing down the NWA title and renaming Eastern to Extreme. They go with the no ref or whatever reason for taking the belt from him, RVD then cuts a promo handing back the title saying he beat a WWE guy for the WWE belt and that while he would have loved it a couple months ago, it isn't what he wants now. He wants to be ECW champion by beating ECW wrestlers, setting up a tournament for the title.
BorneAgain Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 This has been added to the preview: Don't miss RAW tonight when Mr. McMahon delivers his state of WWE address.
NoCalMike Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 The problem I forsee happening though is RVD has to job the title out before he becomes the ECW Champ. I am sure the result of the 3-way at Vengeance will be Cena pinning Edge, and then RVD/Heyman upset that he never got pinned, and then probably say, "In ECW, we have three way dances not triple threat matches" and he will declare that since RVD wasn't pinned he is still the champ........The ECW Champion" Now that is all good and fine, but it still looks bad for RVD to job the title AND THEN go to ECW, because it makes it seem like he wasn't good enough for WWE so he is running off to ECW. I'd take my scenario of the triple threat match tonight, with a double pin, and a double belt awarding over the current plan.
razazteca Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 This has been added to the preview: Don't miss RAW tonight when Mr. McMahon delivers his state of WWE address. I can see the buildup to Vince vs Paul E. at Summerslam.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 Question: Has WWE made any mention of Tenta's death yet?
ChrisMWaters Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 Question: Has WWE made any mention of Tenta's death yet? They did a tribute picture before Smackdown.
NoCalMike Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 Well we are under 2 hours away until we see how WWE Creative fucks up RVD's title win.....
cabbageboy Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 I don't have any problem with ECW simply branching off and recognizing RVD as champ. Let's face it, that's how a lot of promotions are started. The AWA was started when Verne Gagne broke off and declared himself world champion. The WWWF was started when Vince Sr. and Co. didn't recognize a Thesz/Rogers title change and kept the belt on Buddy Rogers (very shortly since Sammartino beat him soon after). Hell, ECW as the "Extreme" promotion was started by Shane Douglas throwing down the NWA belt.

You are absolutely correct, and lets not forget when the brand split happened, Triple H basically was handed a belt and just declared the champ of Raw. Everyone predicted doom, and a couple of years later the Raw belt means 100x more then the Smackdown belt in the fans' eyes. I don't see why RVD's win last night just can't be validated, and he is awarded with being declared the ECW champ, he can come out on the ECW show and declare that he wrestles for ECW now and not WWE Raw, therefore he is now hereby the ECW Champ, and he gets the belt ceremony on Tuesday night, and then someone runs in and attacks him setting up his first feud. It's not perfect, but it is certainly better then keeping him on WWE TV for another two weeks just to do a job at a PPV and then sent on his way like a loser.
Guest StylesMark Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Good god, get this title off RVD, ASAP. Tonight, fer christsakes. They're out of the bingo-hall...RVD can be a jobber again now. With that said, I'm no Cena fan either, so put it on Edge or Triple H.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 As much as I like them, I hate how the Spirit Squad have taken the "tonight, you're gonna face all five members of the Spirit Squad" role for the top babyfaces McMahon hates, not unlike Bischoff and Kane. Tonight, you're facing... *AIRHORN*
Dobbs 3K Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Yeah, I'm totally not looking forward to that match. Triple H should just beat the crap out of all five of them backstage with his sledgehammer before the match even takes place. Or, maybe have him take them out one at a time throughout the night, leaving it to be Triple H vs Kenny or something.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 "Good god, get this title off RVD, ASAP. Tonight, fer christsakes. They're out of the bingo-hall...RVD can be a jobber again now. I believe he was one of the final 4 in the Rumble, he won a heavily-hyped WrestleMania match, won the Intercontinental Title on PPV clean, and just main evented the 2nd most anticipated show of the year. You lack any form of a brain. Triple H has no programs outside of the McMahons and Spirit Squad right now, who are the farthest thing from credible challengers.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 I thought the Frat Boys Vs. Shawn Michaels beatdown was very well done, and the Squad's attack on his knee was executed well. I don't care what H's legacy is, no man can defeat 5 men or hold his own. Anything less than a Triple H hot start and beatdown (if a face doesn't save Triple H) would be silly.
Guest StylesMark Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Hammerstein Ballroom is a glorified Bingo Hall. Been there...trust me. If the ECW fans really wanted to be "edgey"...they would have BOOED RVD's usual shit (same thing thing he's been doing for 10 years around there) and cheered Cena, who carried the match. Ooh, RVD won the IC title clean. HOW impressive!
MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 What I would like to see happen: RVD stripped of the belt and held up for Edge/Cena at the PPV and it ending in some fashion so that there still isn't a champion at the end of the PPV (bad finish for a PPV title match, but..just keep reading) Rematch at GAB ordered due to the lousy finish between Sabu and Rey with Sabu winning that belt. The disputed title is then put up for grabs in a tournament at Summerslam between RAW and Smackdown. Batista/Booker T/Rey Mysterio/Mark Henry from Smackdown and HHH/Orton/Edge/Cena from RAW. That would allow for 7 matches..throw in a Women's Title match, Cruiserweight Title match and maybe one other match.
slimm44 Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 I'm guessing McMahon's address won't be as entertaining as Austin's a couple years ago.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 I expect Vince to make up some new lame slogan tonight like he did with Ruthless Aggression a while back. Vince: "When you step into this ring... I want you all to have... HOSTILE INTENTIONS!
Guest StylesMark Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Heh...I used "ruthless agression" in a baseball game that we won this weekend. It WORKED!!!! 2 guys got ejected, but we won!
ChrisMWaters Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Heh...I used "ruthless agression" in a baseball game that we won this weekend. It WORKED!!!! 2 guys got ejected, but we won! The bad thing about "Ruthless Aggression" is that it gave us John Cena. And you're not the only one to use a term used in wrestling to motivate a team. Back in my High School Football days, I used "Enough is Enough and it's time for a change!"
NoCalMike Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 I don't get why people give a flying fuck about the DX reunion if it just to wrestle the Spirit Squad.
ChrisMWaters Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Let's see if they let Lawler come out after last night...even though the match was less than 40 seconds.
ChrisMWaters Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Change your sig, ChrisMWaters. I will after Raw, if nothing happens to make it so I don't have to. And Lawler did come out.
Guest StylesMark Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 I don't get why people give a flying fuck about the DX reunion if it just to wrestle the Spirit Squad. Fuck DX. Where is the King of Kings?
Conspiracy_Victim Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 WHAT WILL HHH DO?!!? Oh yeah, and who's the champ? Great setup, creative.
