Guest bobrock29 Report post Posted July 22, 2006 I don't watch Smackdown. I have a lot better things to do on Friday night than watch a shitty wrestling show. Then why do you care? I hate it when people talk shit about things they don't even know about. I am so happy you are the social lite of the century. SD is a lot better than Raw in my eyes. Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2006 This has to one of the most messed up shows booking wise in recent memory. I can't remember the last time a show was thrown into such disarray except for IYH: International Incident in 1996 when they had to substitute Henry Godwinn in the place of the no showing Jake Roberts and then replace the Ultimate Warrior with Sid before the pay-per-view. However, that PALES in comparison to this. I look forward to Regal-Finlay and Mysterio-Booker like the next guy but even those matches have me questioning shelling out $40 to see this show. I'll probably just follow the OAO on the board tomorrow night.

Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2006 What was the last PPV in the WWE w/ this many dropouts? Survior Series 91 (Sid, Jake, Jim Neidhart, Steamboat, Big Bully Busick all taken off PPV after being promoted.) Don't forget Savage too since his "poisoning" via Robert's snake caused him to get taken out of the Survivor Series so the WWF could rip off their customers and put the Savage-Roberts encounter on Tuesday in Texas. I think the Bossman/LOD vs. Disasters/IRS match would've been much more exciting if both of them had been involved. PWInsider Elite says that Bobby Lashley has been indefinitely suspended for violating the WWE wellness policy. With Kurt Angle being suspended and now Lashley, it really looks like they are serious about the policy, which is great. Is that why he dropped the US Title a couple of weeks ago? Yes. I think Dave said Lashley dropping the title was "punishment" so I would figure that violating the wellness policy would figure into him dropping the strap to Finlay. Hart and Jarrett were each taken from the show via concussions (Bret's from Goldberg's kick and waiting to get a check-up and Jarrett's from Russo's brain-fart of letting Jarrett work 3 matches in one night including a cage with Snuka). The main event was basically the remaining halfs of the two main events (Sid/Hart and Benoit/Jarrett). Since Benoit/Jarrett was supposed to be a Triple Threat Theatre (3 Matches, 3 stipulations), they turned it into Kidman vs The Revolution (Melenko, Wall and Saturn). Then you throw in the Russo and Radicalz bullshit. Nothing can touch this mess.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2006 No, this stuff now doesn't touch WCW Souled Out 2000. Nothing can ever touch that. As stated above that whole debacle included: --A world champion (Bret) and US champ (Jarrett) both being injured and unable to defend. --The main booker, Vince Russo, is banished for wanting to put the title on Tank Abbott in a battle royale. --Kevin Sullivan is made head booker and half the roster riots. The guy they put the vacant title on (Benoit) QUITS the company and demands his release, as well as Eddie, Malenko, and Saturn. Yeah, this GAB is an injury plagued debacle but what exactly is being hurt here? Lashley no longer has the US title and he'll likely be back soon, thus Regal and Finlay will have a kick ass singles match. Big Show/UT is a better match than Khali/UT. For this to be Souled Out 2000 level we'd also need Rey to be hurt in a career ending moment, then do a match with Booker/Batista and then Batista wins the title and decides "Fuck it, I'm going to TNA." Then Finlay, Regal, and Booker all agree with him and want releases as well.

It was even worse at the time because Shane Douglas, Billy Kidman, Chris Kanyon, Rey Mysterio, and Konnan wanted releases as well. UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2006 The odd thing is this could still end up being one of the best PPV's of the year. Finlay/Regal will be excellent, Booker/Rey will be excellent, Pitbulls/London & Kendrick will probably be awesome, Show/Taker could be a decent bloodbath/brawl, and there's a Super Crazy/Psicosis match right?
