Bruiser Chong Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Now we get to hear even more about the clutchness of David Ortiz.
naiwf Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Now we get to hear even more about the clutchness of David Ortiz. Big time players make big plays in big games/situations. All hail Papi!
KingPK Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Now we get to hear even more about the clutchness of David Ortiz. Well if the guy's gonna keep doing this, what the hell else do you call it? It's to the point that he should be walked and Manny getting the opportunities. That's his eighth regular season walk-off homer, just two behind Bonds for active players.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Yeah, I hear that Manny guy's okay. If he ever improves, pitchers may be forced to pitch to Ortiz.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 My Fucking God.... how can David Ortiz NOT win the MVP?
Bruiser Chong Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Easy, guys, you can't all blow him at once...or can you?
Guest Felonies! Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Bruiser, I'm sure you're having just as bad a day as I am, but come on, David Ortiz is crazy.
Guest Princess Leena Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 My Fucking God.... how can David Ortiz NOT win the MVP? I'd still put Mauer, Manny, Hafner and Mr. Potato Head up there with him.
Precious Roy Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Mark Prior should retire. There's a whole new life waiting for him if he defects to Queens, NY
Bruiser Chong Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Bruiser, I'm sure you're having just as bad a day as I am, but come on, David Ortiz is crazy. I know he is, but he's got one of the best hitters in baseball protecting him. It's not like Jacque Jones is batting behind him or something.
MFer Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 My Fucking God.... how can David Ortiz NOT win the MVP? If he doesn't win this year, a DH will never win it.
Cartman Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 If Manny wasn't behind Ortiz he would surely be walked like half or more of his total at bats. Manny deserves alot of respect and credit for Ortiz being in the situations he is involved in... BUT Ortiz is a friggin MACHINE when games are on the line. Nothing and no one can take that away from him.
Precious Roy Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Ortiz is a friggin MACHINE when games are on the line. Nothing and no one can take that away from him. He's no A-Rod
naiwf Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Ortiz is a friggin MACHINE when games are on the line. Nothing and no one can take that away from him. He's no A-Rod You are correct. Ortiz fails every so often with the game on the line, whereas A-Rod is (an) automatic (out) in the same situation.
Bored Posted August 1, 2006 Author Report Posted August 1, 2006 Now we'll know what it's like to smell like God
jwest27 Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Ok, was it really necessary for ESPN to superimpose blinking MVP letters onto the David Ortiz highlight? I don't recall seeing those during the game.
DerangedHermit Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Now we'll know what it's like to smell like God That's not David Ortiz cologne!
Boon Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Now we'll know what it's like to smell like God Derek Jeter is no Gustavo Chacin.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Arthur Rhodes is none too happy with Cory Lidle's comments about his former team not expecting to win. “He is a scab,” Rhodes said of Lidle, who according to Rhodes was a replacement player during the 1995 spring training lockout with the Brewers. “When he started, he would go 51/3 innings and (the bullpen) would have to win the game for him. The only thing Cory Lidle wants to do is fly around in his airplane and gamble. “He doesn’t have a work ethic. After every start, he didn’t run or lift weights. He would sit in the clubhouse and eat ice cream."
Jericholic82 Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 yea great job cleveland. boston shouldnt be too rah rah, I mean who was the cle closer last night anyhow? idiot if boston ever lost ortiz to injury they might be in big trouble in the big games but he doesnt do anything athletic enough besides hit so that is unlikely. whatever lets see how the new look yankee outfield does in this insane heat tonight.
the max Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 yea great job cleveland. boston shouldnt be too rah rah, I mean who was the cle closer last night anyhow? idiot if boston ever lost ortiz to injury they might be in big trouble in the big games but he doesnt do anything athletic enough besides hit so that is unlikely. It's more impressive when you consider that Ortiz had never faced Carmona and the first time Ortiz swung, he homered.
Just John Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I wonder when was the last time 3 teams scored 15 runs on the same day. Minnesota, Arizona, and Florida all did it yesterday.
CanadianChris Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I wonder when was the last time 3 teams scored 15 runs on the same day. Minnesota, Arizona, and Florida all did it yesterday. Not quite the answer, but close: The Marlins, Diamondbacks, and Twins all scored 15 runs Monday. It was the first time in 70 years that three teams scored at least 15 runs in a game on the same day with 10 or fewer major-league games played. The last time was July 25, 1936.
vivalaultra Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I'd like to see the Astros try to pick him up. He's been decently solid the last few years, and I think playing with his Dad would do well for him. Plus, I think he's like a .400 career hitter at Minute Maid Park.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 After all that talk about making Cedeno the second baseman if Furcal signed with the Cubs, Dusty says he doesn't have the footwork for the position. Cedeno out of the lineup is okay, but hey, let's give Theriot or Fotenote a chance at second. We already know what Neifi can do.
Boon Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Boston Globe reporting Jason Varitek will need knee surgery and will be out possibly 4-6 weeks.
