Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 You would think Coffey might lose a little weight with all of his bull-like charges to the mound but he doesn't.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 As for Jeff Bagwell-He never was upset at Drayton Mclane. Well, I'm sure he was slightly pissed, but probably not as much as the media made it out to be. Last I heard, he was pretty much resigned to never playing again, and he was doing alot of surfing and beachcombing at his house in San Diego. There's also been news that there's mutual interest between Bagwell and the Astros to set up some kind of deal between the two where Bagwell would remain in the organization doing something similar to what Nolan Ryan's doing-public relations stuff and mentoring young players. His number'll probably be retired when he announces he's hanging it up at the end of the season or the beginning of the next. There's still a lawsuit going on between the Astros' front office and the insurance agency with which Bagwell's insurance policy was taken out, but I haven't heard anything about that recently. The Astros are two games under .500 (probably about to be 3 games under because they're blowing it against the Padres), but with the way St. Louis has been playing, winning the division might be easier than winning the Wildcard...once those pesky Reds stop winning. As far as the stadium goes, I like Minute Maid Park, but I can see why opposing fans wouldn't. I still don't think that a team's stadium should make a person dislike them. TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 A-Rod hits an anti-clutch home run in the 9th to make the game 5-2. Boo. Now #30 on the all-time list.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 He only hits home runs when it's 5-1. A true Yankee like Giambi hits the HR when its 5-2.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 I just want to say that Bagwell was a huge juice monkey, and he was smart to just fade into oblivion rather than push it and get caught.... Yankees lost. Sox are on track for a win over the Orioles. They'll be one game back. Methinks the Sox fans spent the last week protesting too much, but the overreactions were fun while they lasted. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 And Burrell strikes out to send the game to extra innings. God how I wish they could've unloaded him instead of Abreu. The fans booing him was pathetic. Hitters tend to strike out from time to time. They should have cheered the two runs scored. EDIT: Let me point out that Utley struck out too. vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 I just want to say that Bagwell was a huge juice monkey, and he was smart to just fade into oblivion rather than push it and get caught.... Bah. He admitted in 99 that he used...God, I forgot what he admitted to using, but it wasn't steroids. He was good friends with Ken Caminiti, though...I miss Cammy. Best 3rd baseman the 'Stros ever had. Even with the 8390 moves that Krivsky made, the Cincy bullpen still blows. Yeesh.

Some can say Abreu is overpaid and "unclutch", but at least he would've shown more patience at the plate there.

Yeah, he probably admitted to the same shit Big Mac copped on I'm not judgemental about that shit, if I were a big league/prospective big league ball player I would absolutely look for every possible edge, I'm just saying.... UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 While I don't agree with booing Burrell, the fans should be used to him by now. I am. He performs sometimes, and sucks sometimes. I'm shocked the Phils tied it. Really. And really happy. This series has been awesome, totally agreed.

Bored 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 Well good to know there is definently one offense in the A.L. worse than the A's and that belongs to the Devil Dogs as the A's finish the sweep behind the Notrious D.U.I. who allows just one run on three hits in eight innings. Hey and 47 year old Eric Chavez hits his first homerun in almost a month to avoid his slugging from dipping under .400. A's now 20-9 since the break and actually have a little breathing room at the West.

Bored 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 There's a debate? If Chavez doesn't win it this year it probably be because of his offense, which goes to show you how ridiculous the Gold Glove award is. I've heard Joe Crede's name thrown around as someone who might dethrone Chavez this year and if either him or Lowell won it, it really wouldn't bother me. Here's the Win Shares defense leaders thru 8/5. A.L. C: Ivan Rodriguez 1B: Richie Sexson 2B: Mark Loretta 3B: Mike Lowell SS: Michael Young OF: Curtis Granderson, Vernon Wells, Torii Hunter N.L. C: Yadier Molina 1B: Albert Pujols 2B: Jamey Carroll 3B: Scott Rolen SS: Adam Everett OF: Carlos Beltran, Juan Pierre, Mike Cameron

They brought it up during a NESN broadcast that the AL managers(?) were surveyed and most of them had Lowell ahead of Chavez when it came to third basemen and the A's were pissed about it.
