NFL - Week One.

Recommended Posts

I'm still reeling after the Giants defeat. Stupid penalties, not being able to pick off Peyton's "laser rocket" passes, and the BS Carter "penalty" killed them dead.

At least they play the Eagles next week.

And? The Eagles looked pretty good this week. It's not a guaranteed victory or anything. Not by a long shot.

they played the Texans...

that's like saying Nebraska could beat USC because they hung 100 points on two weak squads...

ESPN is reporting that Deion Branch has been traded to the Seahawks for a 2007 first round pick.

Good. Fuck Deion Branch. I'd rather have a first round pick than give in to his ridiculous contract demands.

Man this was weird. Vick had a good game and I was fully expecting for him to be sucked off repeatedly on ESPN.....it didn't happen. They were too busy with their new plaything.

How will I know about how great Vick is now without ESPN constantly telling me!?

Dude, this is like the zillionth time you've mentioned ESPN and their sucking off of golden boys. Please shut the fuck up. We get it.

Bite me. I'll say whatever the fuck I want to about it. The more you say stuff like that the more I want to talk about it. I think I will some more now. Oh and we have this feature called ignore. If you don't like what I'm saying you don't have to read it! But instead you'd like to just start a big fight by reading all my posts and mentioning it! So you don't want me to actually shut up because you want to keep starting fights! Just ignore me if you have that big of a problem.

I was at least used to the fellatio of Vick constantly and at least some of it was warranted. Now I won't know about big Mikey's big runs anymore. I feel like I've lost something. Damn you ESPN and Reggie Bush.

Did Lendale White ever get into the game? My claim that he'll be a great NFL running back won't come to fruition if he never sees the field!

Hey Homer. Stop being a fag.

Why Seahawks? I guess because D-Jax is constantly banged up. Dear God the Seahawks game was boring.

Its more for Jackson being injury prone IMO and it will also give them another threat. I think the main problem with the Lions is that they just could not get Alexander going and this should hopefully let them stretch the field a bit more. After all Hasselbeck was like 25 for 30.

Either way, to say somthing like "atleast they play the Eagles" is seriously overlooking the Eagles, and proves you lack any real football knowledge of this year. But then again Paul is a moron in total, so I don't take what he says seriously.

It might've been the Texans, but they still looked great excuting their offensive plays and McNabb's fake hand-offs to the RB looked great. They actually ran the ball alot more(NoCalMike can finally shut up about the Eagles passing for 70% of the time), and Donte Stallworth looks to be comfortable in the offensive system.

Playing the Eagles is not a guarenteed win, and them winning the divison would not be a shocker. Atleast to me anyway. You can't really be excited about playing them as you are with the Niners, Texans, Packers etc.

Awesome, a 1st round pick for Branch is a steal IMHO.

Yes the Hawks will probably win 10 games and be playoff bound but if the "Madden Curse" rears it's head...

Also I don't know how long it's been but there's a nifty trend of Superbowl losers never winning more than 8 games the following season.

I can hope :)

Houston is not NY. Simple geography, really.

Sorry. I'm not yet impressed with Eagles Version 2006.

Oh...and Branch won't help too much either in Seattle. I await week 3.

Last Superbowl losing team to make the playoffs the following year was the '00 Titans

And only one team after that has won more than 8 games (the '02 Patriots went 9-7). Here's hoping that trend continues.

My biggest concern for the Bears is that the offense really folds in the red zone and keeps sending it to Gould to pick up the FG. Four field goals, one offensive touchdown, one punt return TD. I do like that Grossman hasn't been hurt yet, and that there's some balance between the running and passing games.

It was also encouraging, though not indicative, that Grossman put up 250+ yards of passing up on the team VX would proudly proclaim was last year's #1 pass D.

While the pass D last year was good, I think statistically they looked better than they really were because they played in so many close games last year and had a terrible run defense. This year, it's the other way around. And for some reason, they're completely unable to get a good pass rush this year like last year, despite having essentially the same guys on the defensive line.

I also think that noone would've expected Grossman to put up that many yards against anyone, Packers included. From the beginning of the game, you could tell Green Bay was trying to stop the run and completely ignored the passing game, after Grossman put up about 200 yards midway through the second quarter, they held their ground, but were unable to get off the field on third down (and the offense couldn't get a first down, either).

I'm not making any excuses, mind you, but there were at least some positive notes to take away from it, despite the fact they got outplayed in every facet minus the running game. Maybe Chicago's offense has gotten better also? That offensive line was nasty yesterday.

And you want the trend to continue why? I would think most sports fans would like there to be good teams out there rather than teams going up and down every year.

Seattle is probably the best team in the NFC this year, and has a cake schedule. Unless they are decimated by injuries, they should be a lock to get back to the playoffs. Those teams who didn't get back did so for a myriad of reasons, none of which appear to apply to this year's Seatte team.

What does everyone have against the Seahawks, by the way?

Reading comprehension is your friend. The last SB LOSING team. If you repeated as champions, you obviously didn't lose the 1st SB. K, thx.

AT LEAST the days of the Patriots winning Superbowls are behind us.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Is there any reason to believe that this team won't be in the mix again this year?

I didn't say they won't be in the mix.

It's been one season removed since the Patriots won a SB. Quite early to be saying that those days "are behind us". Remember, they did have a "off-season" in between their last two championships. I don't see any reason why they can't win a couple more.

What does everyone have against the Seahawks? I heard a good theory. Seattle only has one professional sports team close to them, the Blazers. Hence there are no 'bitter rivalries' that people get so hot and bothered about. They don't have that much of a storied history, being consistently mediocre with a string of terrible QBs.

People who say they're boring could say the same about any decent West Coast offense. Or they just like colorful, flashy players, like Vick or TO. How many commercial offers did Shaun get after being MVP and setting the record for TDs? A lot less than other hyped-up players.

Either way, they're my team.

Also there's this perception that Seattle isn't a sports town, despite consistently selling huge crowds with the currently shitty M's and being positively rabid about the Seahawks.

And what's the nation's perception of Seattle? Just look at last year's national coverage. Microsoft and rain and flannels and STARBUCKS lol! We're all a bunch of hippies and obviously can't be real football fans, like those tough steelworkers in Pittsburgh, despite the fact that Seattle was built on the back of a steel mill, a port and Boeing. The only reason Microsoft is based near Seattle is because all the founders were born here.

And we wear flannels and drink coffee because yeah, it IS fucking cold and rainy nine months out of the year. Probably the reason why we're the suicide and serial killer capitol of America.

Say the Patroits days of winning a championship this early

Que?
