NFL - Week One.

Recommended Posts

This is embarassing to watch. I feel bad that Randy Moss has to waste a another prime year with this team.

Let's be real, Moss isn't in his prime no more. Too many injurys caught up with him.

Can he still be a threat and a pro bowl WR? You damn right, but he certainly ain't the Moss I remember from the Vikings.

People like to mention how bad Culpepper is without Moss, how about Moss without Culpepper? They needed each other.

If I was a Chargers fan at that game, I'd fear for my life right now. Pissed off, drunk Raiders fans in skull mask does not = good times.

ya right. randy is slowed by injuries? he's slowed by being a part of the worst offense in the league. thats the problem. when the qb isn't being an ienept ass they're being sacked by their flimsy offensive line. the raiders have past on two great quraterbacks over the past 3 drafts. they're just morons. al is going the way of vince.

Randy Moss was already a star in Minnesota before Daunte Culpepper was even drafted, it didn't matter if it was Brad Johnson, Jeff George, or Randall Cunningham passing to him.

and people can never rag on randy moss again. the mere fact that he's yet to complain about this abortion of a team demonstrates his restraint & maturity as a man.

Must've missed this, then:

http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ts/15497165.htm

Moss chose Friday to make some very odd, very disgruntled comments from his own personal platform -- a national radio segment sponsored by his clothing company.

``Things are so fishy and question-mark around here,'' Moss said. He added, ``I'm just not thrilled with the way things are going around here. We're walking on eggshells around here. . . . It's crazy around here.''

Sunday night, on ESPN, he elaborated.

``Coach Art Shell just has a tight grasp on us,'' he said. ``We're walking on eggshells. It's funny, but at the same time, as a grown man, it messes with your manhood a little bit. Knowing that you're a man, you're a certain age and this man is treating you like kids or a boy or whatnot.''

Moss also said he doesn't like when his teammates ask him to intercede with Shell on their behalf over small stuff such as food and wearing pads in practice.

Moss has been around long enough, and is calculating enough, to know exactly how his remarks would be received. He knew that they'd get big play and he'd come off like a big, well, you know -- like a big jackass.

Apparently he didn't care. Maybe he's jealous of all the publicity T.O. is getting down in Dallas.

Moss is doing a fantastic Porter impersonation (though it's unlikely he'll be rendered inactive). What separates Moss and Porter -- besides talent and track record -- is stature. The Raiders are a team devoid of leaders, so players are forced to look to their best player for guidance. That would be Moss.

And Moss prepared for the opener by letting it be known it's fine to openly question Shell. To publicly whine. To be unhappy before the ball has even been snapped.

SF Chronicle reports that Jerry Porter was sitting on the sidelines laughing after Brooks got sacked for the 765th time (or 7th, hard to keep track that stat in a Raider game). Fuel, meet fire. Fire, meet fuel.

Gallery basically got raped by Merriman last night. It didn't matter what Shawne did, spin move, swim, step one way and go the other, or just plain rush right past the supposed #2 overall pick from a school(and conference) that is known for producing great linemen. That was easily the worst O-line performance I can ever remember.

And even in this slaughter, can we honestly say we saw anything from Phillip Rivers yet? He only threw 11 passes and gave LT the ball the rest of the time. I don't think you can judge anything out of this first game. It was the Raiders after all...

Porter can just tell them he was thinking of a really funny Dilbert cartoon. Or he could be honest and say the offensive line and quarterback are so horrible they are making Jeff George once again seem like a great option.

Also from last night, Troy Williamson might have the worse hands of any #1 receiver in the NFL. The Vikings are going to be in trouble knowing that in a third down situation or a situation where they need a big play that they can't count on their top wide out.

3 shut outs in week one. Hmmm.....hope this isn't represenative of the whole season.

On the brigth side the Eagles were the only NFC East team to win. *dances*

Only ones to play a shit team, but yeah a win is a win.

Well as a Washington fan I can say Carlos Rogers play was equally as troubling, both the deep pass to Williamson and the TD earlier were underthrown to where he had to slow down to adjust to the ball, and all Carlos Rogers had to do was at least turn his head around to look at the ball and he comes away with at least one INT, and hopefully a batted down ball, instead he doesn't even attempt to make a play on the ball.

I'm not saying Randy Moss isn't a Pro Bowl WR, I just don't think he is in his prime no more. Even if he's playing in a bad offense. He's not the same Randy Moss, I grew up watching and wanting to be like. He could still be a great player on another team, but he's not as fresh as he was a few years ago on the Vikes team. And this is coming from a big Randy Moss fan.

And I don't think the Raiders should've drafted a young QB, they are tons of capable QB's they could've got the last few years in free agency. They should've used the draft picks to spice up their defense. I thought Huff was a great pick, because he will be a pro bowl safety in the years to come. The year they drafted that bum Gallery, they should've gotten Sean Taylor.

Randy Moss had his best years stat-wise with Daunte Culpepper. You don't think he would give a leg right now to play with him again in Miami?

Culpepper hasn't exactly proven himself in Miami. How many passes did Chris Chambers or Marty Booker get their way?

The Raiders problem is the line and play-calling...Brooks, when he had a bit of time or a quick 1-step drop, was able to make his throws. I'm pretty sure Culpepper in a Raiders uniform would have had the exact same problems, if not moreso since he doesn't have the mobility of Brooks.

Culpepper was playing with a bad line on Thursday night and was constantly being rushed to throw the ball, and was playing against a better defense, but was still able to make much better desicions then Brooks, until the final 5 miniutes of the 4th quarter.

Culpepper in a Raiders uniform would be alot better then Aaron Brooks in a Raiders uniform. Be real.

Dude your team played fucking VIKINGS. They aren't hot enough to warrant you making a snide remark about the Eagles' level of competition last Sunday. At least they BEAT a team they were supposed to beat, unlike those indians in D.C.

So? You act like the Redskins were downed by a team like the Patriots or Colts. They weren't. They were downed by a team that was hanging by a thread last year and went ahead with the 35+ year old QB as the starter this year.

I mean, if I was a Redskin fan, I'd be embarrassed by this loss as I would if the Packers had beaten the Bears.

Culpepper looked like ass last year, too.

The Raiders are just jaw-droppingly awful. At least Kerry Collins, under constant pressure, would fling little short passes to Lamont Jordan. Brooks just has no awareness of the entire field.

I think the Texans are closer to the Vikings than people think.
