"Seriously, not even Hogan, the biggest draw in the ever, had a streak like that."

Missed two main events due to technicalities, I guess...but Hogan was in the most hyped WM match at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, split on 8, and 9 (tag title match was hyped more than Bret/Yoko).

This is the first Wrestlemania since Wrestlemania X-7(in 2001!) that Triple H has NOT been in a world title match, and the first time ever that RAW's main event did not include Triple H.

....and THAT is the reason why I am somewhat looking foward to this Wrestlemania. Seriously, not even Hogan, the biggest draw in the ever, had a streak like that.

Technically Hogan had a longer streak

Hogan defended or chased the title at WM 2, III, IV (point of contention only because it was a tourney but however it was for the title), V, VI, VII. This is if you count the WM IV tourney would be 6 consecutive WMs that Hogan was in a program with title implications

HHH defended or chased at X-8, XIX, XX, XXI, XXII which is 5.

WWE sources state that Test actually “failed a few tests” and was nearly fired for it in January, but they kept him on to try to help make Lashley. Vince really soured on him during the RVD vs. Lashley vs. Test match on ECW TV where Lashley was supposed to get over huge and instead Test and RVD had to get all their crap in and the match was an utter disaster. Vince figured after the Lashley thing ended, Test just didn’t bring much to the table.

Didn't count WM 4's title tourny (because it was Savage's night, IMO), but maybe I should have. Still, Hogan was barely ever on TV this period, while we get Hunter every week. And Hogan actually drew boatloads, so it was deserved.

Hogan vs. Andre was the advertised main event for Wrestlemania IV. In my opinion, he headlined the first 8 manias, and perhaps IX as well.

That's just the difference between wrestling then and wrestling now. The Monday Night Wars made it mandatory that the main eventers be on every show and wrestle frequently. Back in the day there was less competition, so seeing the champion was more special.

Also, how the hell did Umaga become so popular? I remember when he debuted and some people in the community hated the character. Now he's main eventing and appears to be everyone's darling. What's up with that? I like him, to be honest. But I do have a thing for Samoans and hosses.

People usually warm up to well booked dominant gimmicks.

Not to mention is a really good worker for such a big guy.

Test is claiming he quit the WWE because he was sick and tired of all the politics that were going on when Paul Heyman got removed as ECW head writer.

And it makes sense too. If you look at the wording on WWE.Com when people are fired, it usually says "WWE has released (name) from their contract." When announcing Test's departure, it said "WWE has come to terms on the release of Test."

Wasn't Test pushed even more after Heyman was removed from the ECW writing? Shit his downfall didn't happen until a week before the Rumble, wasn't Heyman removed months before that?

Any word on the particulars of the Mistico tryout? How does an empty arena tryout work? Have him work a match with agents watching and calling spots?

I am really interested to see how this shakes out.

If they manage to get Mistico in time, they really should do something unconventional and debut him at WM against Chavo and win the title right there (of course, with hype videos and perhaps even a connection to Mysterio). If WWE is so high on him and want capture that demographic since Eddie is gone and Rey's gonna be out for awhile longer and this is the biggest crowd they'll reach. Although he might be better off debuting in California but I do think to an extent it'd be a neat way to debut someone.

Bryan Alvarez talked about the Mistico deal on F4 Daily. He said the tryout went well, and the wording of the report he got on the tryout indicated that if Mistico was signed, he'd be sent to developmental and and wrestle on the road as well, which I would assume to be so he can learn to work 'WWE style'.

From that, it sounds like things went well in that WWE appear to be reasonably keen on signing him.

As someone who has only seen Mistico on Youtube I need someone to break it down for me: Does Mistico have enough going for him after WWE neuters him of his high spots to get and stay over?

He can be a human punching bag/lawn dart just like Rey Rey, I don't want to see Mistico in WWE, I really don't want to see Snitsky or Great Khali kill him!

Does anyone know when Bret's book is likely to be released?

He's been writing the damn thing since 1997. It's getting to Axl Rose's levels now. Does the new Foley bio come out this week or next week?

I'm pretty sure he wasn't writing it during his stroke recovery period, if he was, that'd be a really remarkable feat.

I think Foley's book is this coming Tuesday, IIRC.

Anyone hear anything about it, like what he discusses in this book? I honestly hadn't even heard about it until that promo for it on Monday Night RAW.

I think Mick's new book is a journal of sorts of his comeback to wrestling.

Bret's book should probably be out by the end of the year. I remember Dave saying a while ago that Bret wrote the whole thing himself and it's something like 900 pages and has to be heavily edited.

I guess I'm not overly excited about Bret's biography. Talk about one wrestling career that's been over-analyzed and discussed to death.

I think the idea of Bret talking about the training and all the people involved with Stampede and the politics with Hogan will be interesting reads but I'll probably skim through it once it hits the Montreal chapter and then the Flair stuff and the HOF story. If he sticks to talking mostly outside Montreal, it'll be a fascinating tale but if it's a rehash of the same old stuff, I'll skip it.

I really look forward to seeing what Foley says about Samoa Joe in the book.

That and Foley was a big champion for WWE bringing Joe in (along with Punk). That was a key reason he was strongly considering going to TNA for not just the big salary but to work with Joe as well. I just wonder if Foley will be critical about WWE not doing enough to bring Joe in.

No surprise there. The crowd would eat Lashley and most of the new breed (barring Punk and maybe Brown), alive.
