cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2006 With week 1 in the books I'll go ahead and post the schedule for NFL week 2 and give predictions. Sunday 1:00: Oakland at Baltimore: You gotta be kidding me, right? Oakland looked helpless in the first game, Ravens looked great. Baltimore by at least 21. Buffalo at Miami: Bills had their chance at the upset in NE, but blew it of course. They'll compete here and maybe pick off Culpepper a couple times, but lose again by about 6. Houston at Indianapolis: Assbeating, thy name is the Texans. Colts by 21. Tampa Bay at Atlanta: I have to wonder, are the Bucs really that bad? Are the Falcons really that good? I'll go with Ron Mexico here by about 7. Detroit at Chicago: This will be an ugly, ugly game. Lions aren't quite as helpless as the Packers at this point, but the Bears should still hold them on D. Something like a 13-3 game. Cleveland at Cincinnati: Rivalry game, so the Browns will bring an effort. Won't matter though, Bengals by 14. New Orleans at Green Bay: How far have the Packers fallen when they are home underdogs to the SAINTS? I can't in good conscience pick N.O. here though....Pack by 3 if they have any pride left. Carolina at Minnesota: Interesting game. It might sound crazy but I'll take the Vikings here in a tough one by about 6, sending the Panthers to a surprising 0-2. NY Giants at Philly: Maybe the best game of the day. Giants can't afford to go 0-2, so by hook or crook they have to pull this one off. NY by 3 on a late FG by the maligned Feeley. 4:00: St. Louis at San Francisco: Rams seem to struggle once a year with the Niners, but I don't see it for some reason. Rams by 10. Arizona at Seattle: I am so close to picking upset, if it was in AZ I might. Seahawks get another major scare and get a late TD to win it by 7. Kansas City at Denver: Jake Plummer can't possibly be as bad as he was last week, and with Trent Green hurt the Broncos should take this one by 14 at home. New England at NY Jets: Pats should put up another uninspiring win against a bleh opponent. NE by 5. Tennessee at San Diego: This one won't be pretty. Chargers in another romp, maybe 35-10. Washington at Dallas: Redskins have a short week and have to go to Dallas. Cowboys can't afford to go 0-2 with a home loss. Dallas by 7. Monday: Pittsburgh at Jacksonville: The Jags are the masters of technically sound, but boring football. This one is a toss up, but I'll reluctantly go with the Steelers with either Roethisberger or Batch. Pittsburgh by 4.
devo 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2006 It's not going to happen, but I'm hoping beyond hope that the Jets can pull out the miracle win against the Patriots this week. If they emerge victorious this weekend, the Jets could lose their next fourteen games and I'd still be happy. Well, maybe. Otherwise, go Bengals and Giants. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2006 Didn't Roy Williams claim they could put up 40 on the Bears? 40 times getting hit in the mouth? 40 dropped passes? 40 INTs? 40 sacks? Surely he didn't mean 40 points.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 12, 2006 I don't even care if they do well in the playoffs, or even make it ever again, as long as I can watch them kill the fuck out of the Packers again and again.

Surely he didn't mean 40 points. He meant 40 yards of total offense. And I think with the right gameplan, they can do it.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2006 With regards to the Eagles-Giants game, I'm not worried about the offense against the Giants defense, it's going to be how the Eagles defense does that decides this game. Barber is going to get his yards, so the biggest key will be pressure on Manning . If they can force him into some turnovers, they can pull this one off. The Giants really need this game however because they can't head to Seattle 0-2. I'm hopeful in this game because of the Giants needing OT to pull of the win in Philly last year when the defense had a ton of injuries and the Mike McMahon experience being in full effect. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2006 The key is the first team DLine getting off to a quicker start. They can't dick around this week, have the Cole line go in needing to provide a spark and then decide to show up. The Giants won't give back the momentum as easily as Houston did. Also, Matt McCoy needs to show up again. If he can control Barber out of the backfield as he did in week 1 (won't stop him, but might limit him) that will be a huge relief off the secondary not having to look in on him. If the OLine plays as well as they did in the first game (Andrews is a monster, just needed to throw that in), I am not too worried about the offense. They won't put up huge numbers, but they will move the ball enough to be in position to win. If week 1 Tapeh was the real deal, they will surprise the Giants with the improved running game. He was everywhere making blocks.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2006 I will be in Dallas for the Redskins/Dallas game(as well as Houston the following week for Skins/Houston) This game is tough to call since both teams have questions going into Week 2, The Redskins lose a close game. They played a Vikings team that is not elite, but both their lines, are definately superior to most, especially their offensive line. Dallas, they started the game great against Jacksonville, dissapeared for the rest until the 4th quarter, but Bledsoe decided to remember he was Drew Bledsoe, and three 3 INTs, also Dallas once again looks to be putting forth a non-existant running game. I think the Skins D will have an easier time getting to Bledsoe then they did Johnson, because the Dallas O-line is nowhere near as good as Minnesota's, however the Skins are depleted in the secondary, with Springs probably OUT and the injury to Prioleu, which means their over-aggressive blitzing will get the secondary burnt a few times during the game. The Redskins offense didn't look bad, as far as moving the ball up and down the field went, but they kept stalling at the 5 yard line, which translated into field goals instead of TDs, in the first half if they convert one more of the FGs instead into a TD, then the score is 17-6 at the half, convert two more, and it is 21-6 at the half, which would have forced Minnesota to alter their game plan, playing behind from 2-3 scores down, which would have made Brad Johnson force more and make mistakes. Instead we got 13-6 at the half, with Minnesota still very in the game. The thing is, both these teams have built their rep on Defense the past few seasons, but it is their offenses that are SUPPOSED to be shining in 2006...... Because I will be there, I predict I bring the Skins luck and they eek out a victory.... 21-20.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2006 I will be in Dallas for the Redskins/Dallas game(as well as Houston the following week for Skins/Houston) Where are your seats for the Dallas game? Stop by and say hey if you're near section 8. Dallas, they started the game great against Jacksonville, dissapeared for the rest until the 4th quarter, but Bledsoe decided to remember he was Drew Bledsoe, and three 3 INTs, also Dallas once again looks to be putting forth a non-existant running game. I can't help but wonder if Bledsoe's struggles didn't have something to do with him aggravating his back and consequently having trouble keeping it loose for the rest of the game Sunday. I don't know if they mentioned it on the TV broadcast, but the radio feed (which I was listening to) brought up his back situation. Something was clearly wrong with him after the first quarter; he'd been just about dead perfect with his accuracy and then suddenly started missing most of his passes. A little unusual, even for Bledsoe. You're right on the running game, though. The Cowboys will probably struggle with that all season. The thing is, both these teams have built their rep on Defense the past few seasons, but it is their offenses that are SUPPOSED to be shining in 2006...... The Cowboys' defense WAS very good Sunday...until they got the 10 point lead and Mike Zimmer stopped being aggressive. If he could, for once, not do that when they have the lead, the Cowboys will be a top 5 defense. I hope they don't offer ZImmer a contract after this year. He sucks. Prediction: Cowboys 20, Redskins 14.

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 The Cardinal-Seahawks game will be interesting. There are a couple of questions that surround this game 1. Is the Cardinals defense as bad as it showed against the 49ers? 2. Is the Seahawks offense that bad or was the Lions DEF that good? Even though I am a Cardinals fan I think the Seahawks squeak out a 4 point victory.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 I think the Panthers will be able to bounce back this week. They always are at their best when their backs are against the wall. Unlike teams like the Indianapolis Colts, the Panthers can't have the media behind them and succeed. They need for people to start to doubt them before they actually become successful. It's terrible if you're a fan, because you know you can NEVER be too confident in them. But, if they win that is all that matters.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 13, 2006 You know what, fuck it. I'm putting my survivor league in jeopardy this week picking the Packers to win. If these young guys don't come out with something to prove, then they should be downright ashamed of themselves. Especially against the fucking Saints. Especially with the return of an Ahman Green who had the quietest 100-yard rushing game ever against arguably the league's best defense. Especially with a Brett Favre who should know what the team is capable of, and being thought of as the worst team in the league is definitely not the case. There are plenty worse than the Packers. Oakland, Tennessee, San Francisco, the Jets, the Cardinals, and the Saints will still count. If they thought 52-3 was bad last year, it better be even worse this year, especially after getting shutout by the fucking Bears of all teams, at Lambeau to top it off. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 13, 2006 Jeopardy is an understatement. The Saints should beat GB by at least 10. How? Oh wait a minute, I forgot they have Drew Brees and Joe Horn. But NO's defense is not anywhere near as good as Chicago's. And neither is their offensive line. Again, while GB is nowhere near one of the better teams in the league, they're not the worst. One severely overrated college star does not make NO a good team all of a sudden that can come into Lambeau and win by 10.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 I mean, Hutchinson is a big part of the O-Line last year, but you still have Tobeck and the rest of the guys part of the O-Line from Seattle, most of them also pro-bowl candidates as well. Besides Seattle didn't run the ball much that game either.

Fökai 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 There are plenty worse than the Packers. Oakland, Tennessee, San Francisco, the Jets, the Cardinals, and the Saints will still count. And if they lose this week? Not to pile it on, but I have more hope in the Cardinals and 49ers, with the benefit of their schedules, to accomplish something this year than I do the Pack. And honestly, the Cardinals are better than the Packers overall.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 13, 2006 The Pack's got an easy schedule also. The only tough games they have this year are Philadelphia, New England, and Seattle, outside of the division which as many know isn't exactly the toughest in the NFL. I won't deny the Cardinals are more talented in the skill positions on offense, but that offensive line isn't any better and neither is their situation at quarterback. And GB has a better defense. They play this year actually, so we can see then. I don't think the Cardinals have improved that much outside of Edgerrin James. And you've still got Dennis Green as head coach there, which as Vikings fans know, means they're just bound for high hopes followed immediately by disappointment. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 Unless the first game is a huge aberration the Packers didn't look like they could beat anybody. When did you ever think you'd see the Saints go to Lambeau and be favored? I watched some of that Bears game on Sunday and it was downright depressing.
