slabinskia 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Why was Curt Hennig one of the last three people left in the 2002 rumble match ? Was he suppose to get a push ? It seems odd that with the amount of big names in the rumble that year that he lasted until the end.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 I think it was just mostly intended as a surprise. Anything can happen in the Royal Rumble and all. Plus it was amusing if you watch a lot of Rumbles because usually the final four consists of three main eventers/uppercarders and the token midcard guy who goes out first. And this time it seemed that way and then Austin went out before Hennig did.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 I marked out when Angle threw Perfect over the top rope and Perfect held on (because's he's perfect and all) and then kicked Angle's ass, breaking out the NECK SNAP~! and the PERFECTPLEXXXXXXX until Triple ruined the fun (and the Rumble, mind you). Triple H was responsible for the two super-over guys, Perfect (via clothesline) and Rob Van Dam (via pedigree) being eliminated.

Perfect's entire time in the Rumble had me marking out like crazy. Up to his entrance, HHH & Austin had been throwing everyone out, but Perfect managed to hang on and even do the gum swat while hanging outside the ropes with Austin & HHH trying to eliminate him. I thought for sure he would go out after Angle's accidental clothesline.
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2006 I dont know but I was marking like crazy for this. I was rooting on Perfect, even though I had to know in my smarky mind that he wouldnt win, but I kinda went all markish. great appearance that unfornately didnt lead to anything of note except for his backstage skit with Debra ("me and steve go way back" debra-really? perfect-no)which led to a raw mian event with austin that would turn out to be a squash, a brief tag team with the bossman (which was weird considering their wm 7 match) and perfect-plexing the big show on raw, and fighting with Brock on the "flight from hell" of course he died about a year after his rumble performance
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2006 I just re-watched Perfect-Blazer and, while it is a very fun little match, I noticed that while Hennig is walking to the ring his eyes are pretty glossed over and he takes an obvious, deep snort of his nose. I never saw it until watching it for the first time in awhile.
The Buzz 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2006 I don't know why but I always considered Perfect a main eventer just because of his skill and character. So him being in the final four was more surprising because of how the WWE let him throw down. Usually the surprise entrants are nothing more then comedy or a cheap draw tactic. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2006 I marked out big time for Perfect, it was a nice surprise he made it that far. I remember either on the RAW following his death or the week after when they had the awesome tribute video of him with his theme song "Exodus" playing, Chris Jericho had a backstage segment talking with somebody I THINK it was Christian, so anyway as the segment was ending with it fading to black for commercial, Jericho spat out the gum and swatted it away with perfect timing before he walked away so I thought that was a neat little thing of him to do.
