PlayStation 3

Guess not.

Okay, how about SSF2 HD Remix? Anyone download it last night? I only had a chance to play one match online before going to bed but I was happy to see that I can still kick a random stranger's ass at this game even if it is in all-new high def! :P

So, I'm pretty certain the wife is getting me a PS3 for Christmas. I'm pretty sure I'll pick up Fallout 3 and Madden '09 for sure. Any other "must haves" I should be sure to get right away (particularly ones you can't get on the Wii)?

I'd get Metal Gear Solid 4 if I were you. I just finished it last night, and wow, it's one of the most amazing things ever. You might not feel the same way if you havent followed the series, but even so, it's still a must have imo. Just read reviews on it.

^^^^ agreed. I'd not played any of the games before MGS4 and I still loved it. It actually prompted me to pick up the "essentials" collection for PS2 so I could see the rest of the story from the start. That and you also get MGO with MGS4 which is hella fun in and of itself!

Resistance 2: anyone playing?

How is it? I was going to get it but I went with World at War instead. I still might pick it up though eventually....I liked the first one, even though it started a little slow.

Res2 is fun.. well the storymode is fun. The online.. no so much. You kill a guy, someone kills you, you kill another guy, another guy kills you, run back and forth, back and forth.. etc. It feels way too rushed and the only word I can think of to describe it is "clusterfuck."

I just have way more fun with MGO as I feel there's an element of strategy to it.

Is your avatar art from "The Walking Dead" series? I love that graphic novel series. I have Book 1,2,3 and Book 4 should be on the way in the mail.

So, its Halo on the PS3?

On a side note, anyone got a Home Invite yet?

Oddly enough, that was exactly how I described Res 1 to my wife.

I just picked up FIFA '09, and it's incredible. There. That's HELLLLLLLA my contribution.

That's exactly how my girlfriend's cousin described it. He loved the online in Res1 but complained that Res2 was made into a Halo/Unreal clone when it comes to online. Personally, I'm sticking to MGO when it comes to online. Much more fun! IMO! :P

Anyone try the open Beta for Home yet? Tried it last night, and I got to say that I was a little underwhelmed by it. Thought it was kind of lame that you can go into rooms with games, but only one person can play a game at a time. I know its only the Beta so far, but unless they start bringing a lot of new features into it, I don't see me spending a hell of a lot of time on it.

No, but it has the potential to be alot better when they keep adding things to it. Definitely makes it easier to meet peope for online gaming anyways.

Got my PS3 last night :) I only have Ratchet & Clank and Warhawk for it so far (my brother in law has Warhawk so it will be fun to play him online, and the Jabra headset that came with it is nice). Need to make a trip to Best Buy this weekend and get an HDMI-to-DVI cable and a second controller, and will probably pick up a couple more games. Then I should be set for the time being. Also have a couple BD discs now (Casino Royale, which came with the system, and the Dark Knight). Funnily enough, they look pretty good over just the composite video cable that comes with the PS3, but I know they'll look amazing once I have the HDMI cable (though they won't be in 1080p since we have an older Mitsubishi rear projection set, hence the need for the DVI adapter).

Yeah, I played it a little last night, and it was fun. I've never played any Ratchet games before, so I was sure what to think of it, but it's pretty fun so far. Video quality looks good even without the high def connector right now.

My parents got me Fallout 3 (we exchanged gifts last night), so I will probably be playing that for quite a while. Looking forward to that one.

Also got Guitar Hero: World Tour for Wii...ironically, I've never played any Guitar Hero games before, which is funny because people always ask me if I have, since I play bass guitar in real life.

We got 90 dollars in gift cards and ordered Guitar Hero World Tour for the PS3 for 75 bucks tonight. We had to order from Walmart and it was 85 in stores but 75 online with site to store. She's going to visit her mom tomorrow anyway so I decided it would be chill to save 10 bucks and just wait on the game a bit.

We thought about Rock Band but decided we had no urge to deal with the drums or any of the other instruments, plus I played the demo and didn't enjoy it as much as the Guitar Hero one. I'll probably get it online later next month just to get more songs and such but since the most recent game we purchased was DC vs MK, there has never been a need for online.

Now we have a new issue. Does anyone have any idea which of the PS3 games with microphones is the best? She's going to get more cash from her mother and wants one of the games. So is Singstar worth a damn or is it pure horsecrap?

We had $600 in Best Buy gift cards so we bought our PS3 a couple of weeks ago. We bought DC vs. MK, Raw vs. Smackdown 2008, GTA 4, Madden 09, Civilaztion: Revolution (I got this for him for xmas), Guitar Hero World Tour (Walmart), and Rock Band (on sale at GameStop the day after xmas). We have never played the Guitar Hero games til Christmas Eve but enjoyed it so we are still learning the ropes.

After all the gift cards and Christmas money we spend only $200 of our own money.

Speaking of the Home thing, I did download it the other day, and I don't really get the point so far. It seems like it has some potential, but right now it seems like the options to customize your appearance are pretty limited, and there's just not much to do, other than talk to random idiots. If you go into somewhere like the bowling alley, all the games are usually filled up. Kind of pointless right now.

Bought Little Big Planet yesterday and played it. Amazing graphics. 2 player mode is pretty fun, in the little I've played it so far.
