Hunter's Torn Quad Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 With ECW going head-to-head on 10/10 with the Spike TV Ken Shamrock vs. Tito Ortiz III match, at first the word was WWE was not going to acknowledge or counterprogram. However, WWE announced today it will have a live strip poker game with all the women in the promotion (Raw, Smackdown and ECW) as its counter to the UFC two-hour live show. From Meltzer.
Gary Floyd Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Wow, I can just taste the ratings...and they aren't good.
razazteca Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 What was the ratings for the Diva Search special?
Guest Kobe24KGold Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 What was the ratings for the Diva Search special? 2.7?
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 What was the ratings for the Diva Search special? 1.9
snuffbox Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 This is gonna be the awesomest bait-n-switch ever.
the max Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Why any of you still watch this is beyond me.
Guest Kobe24KGold Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I'll bet anyone that the Strip Poker special will get higher ratings than Shamrock vs. Ortiz III. UFC viewership caps out at maybe 1.6 or 1.8. The only reason why they garner great PPV buyrates relative to WWE is because about 80 percent of the people who watch UFC on Spike order the PPV's; whereas, for WWE, only 10-15 percent of RAW/Smackdown viewers purchase the PPV's.
Guest Jimmy Jack Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Wow, I can just taste the ratings...and they aren't good. Tastes kind of like ass... And not in the good way.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 I'll bet anyone that the Strip Poker special will get higher ratings than Shamrock vs. Ortiz III. And which one will do more long-term good for their respective groups? The only reason why they garner great PPV buyrates relative to WWE is because about 80 percent of the people who watch UFC on Spike order the PPV's; whereas, for WWE, only 10-15 percent of RAW/Smackdown viewers purchase the PPV's. Which shows just how great a job UFC is doing. They have less viewers to their TV show and still get more people to buy their PPV's than WWE can. And the percentage of Raw/SD viewers who get the PPV's is around 5%.
Just John Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I'm slightly curious as to what stupid way they'll avoid showing nudity, but otherwise I'll probably forget about this. It'll draw about the same rating as the Diva Search finale, maybe higher because of the established divas. I'll laugh if it does out-draw UFC. Would it have any affect on the perceived Wrestling/MMA rivalry if WWE could embarrass UFC with a diva special?
Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Yeah, I think I'll watch Ortiz/Shamrock III and get my porn where I usually do...the internet.

Hunter's Torn Quad Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 Would it have any affect on the perceived Wrestling/MMA rivalry if WWE could embarrass UFC with a diva special? Only to people who hate MMA. The reality is that the viewers UFC draw are far more likely to want to come back than the viewers who'll get drawn by the Strip Poker.
Just John Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Won't the people who go out of their way to watch strip poker already be avid WWE viewers? I don't see that special drawing non-fans, unlike Ortiz/Shamrock.

I don't see that special drawing non-fans, unlike Ortiz/Shamrock. Any non-fans that the special actually draws will either never tune back in out of disgust, or tune back in wanting to see more hot women and then tune back out when they finally realize they can see far hotter women, and see them naked, elsewhere.
Lord of The Curry Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Rachelle Leah- Octagon Girl Suck a dick, divas.
CanadianChris Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Vince's brain is in a jar of formaldehyde somewhere, I'm sure of it.
razazteca Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Yeah, I think I'll watch Ortiz/Shamrock III and get my porn where I usually do...the internet. you can get the same level of top titty cleavage by watching those late night julie strain b-movies on spike tv.
Insanity Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 They're not going to be naked, who gives a fuck?
tominator89 Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Haven't a few of the WWE girls been in Playboy? And the rest have been in bikini's enough that this is nothing special at all.
MrRant Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Do they even know how to play poker?
KingPK Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Wait....the ENTIRE two hours will be a strip poker game? Trish got out at the right time.
Karc Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Wow, this is cool. I didn't think WWE was petty enough to be trying to beat UFC in the ratings that mean nothing (since WWE gets no money from ads now) when they should more concerned with UFC kicking their ass in PPV buyrates. WWE would rather win a battle with NO money involved than winning the one with ALL of the money involved. That's WWE logic at its best. Besides, without Trish there, this is going to be a trainwreck of a segment anyway. And isn't there a little project called ECW that has to force fed to the WWE audience that night?
humongous2002 Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Instead of booking a TLC/extreme match for the ECW title with BS, RVD, Sabu, and either Holly or CM Punk, they book this crap!!!
Lord of The Curry Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Airing anything CM Punk-related up against a UFC show would be hilarious.
Hawk 34 Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I wonder how they will rig a poker game. Well, probably not much different from regularly rigged poker games. Is this going to be the entire show or just the advertised special attraction?
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted September 23, 2006 Author Report Posted September 23, 2006 Is this going to be the entire show or just the advertised special attraction? Meltzer thinks it'll be interspersed through the show. I guess the idea being that people will have to stay tuned for the chance to see a woman naked.
KingPK Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Maria at 10:59:55 PM: Oh no, I lost. Guess the bra has to come off. Joey Styles: Folks, we're out of time!
