NFL Week 7

Recommended Posts

The problem with the Colts is that they seem to think "Ok, its the big time. Let's start passing like crazy!". The teams that makes the postseason are going to have good defenses, and they are going to key in on Peyton every time unless they prove them otherwise.

Did you not notice the discussion of why Peyton's seemingly never hurt? He forces teams to actually play defense and forget about pressuring him thanks to that stout O-line.

I make this observation every season, but I don't think anyone here likes for people to be successful. So Michael Vick had a good game. Suck it up and ignore football coverage if it bugs you that goddamn much.

Hey, I'm happy for the Raiders, Bengals, and Peyton Manning. Don't give me that "you TSM people" thing.

You make no sense. I must have imagined all those times the Patriots were pressuring Peyton into making bad throws and all.

Four game suspension, so he'll miss the Rams, Browns, @Bengals, @Broncos. That certainly knocks the vaunted San Diego defense down a peg.

And that little Steelers team.

Pressuring Manning is the only way to beat him. Anytime a team tries to play drop back and cover, they get shredded by the Colts. You either get to Peyton and force him to throw before he wants to throw, or he picks you apart.

Is it just me or does every team in the league have some kind of weakness that can suggest any team could be 4-2 just as easily as they'd be 2-4?

There's really very few teams that look all that impressive in the league, I would've said Chicago before up until this past Monday.

Chicago's weakness was getting complacent, and I think that's been flogged out of them in time for the 49ers game (do we play them every year?), or at least I hope.

Sure seems like it. Why do they like scheduling Chicago vs San Francisco? It's not like its the hot rivalry.

How could you hold Marc Bulger to 200 yards passing but give up 400 to Joey Harrington?!

Didn't Joey throw for a Dolphins record 63 passing attempts? I mean when you throw that much, your bound to get 300+ or 400+ yards passing. I didn't watch the game because I was at work but it looks like the Defense played a little bit better, I could be wrong, I'm just judging by the 3 interceptions.

Joey threw 62 times today but I dont know where that fits in Dolphins lore. He must have been hit a couple dozen times as well.

Th big difference from the Green Bay defense this week was that they didn't give up the really big plays.

Well, we play the NFC West this year, and in 2005 played them as a fellow '04 4th placer. So I guess there's always a reason for it, but it seems like we've played them like five out of the last six years.

I assume Marino threw more than 62 times in many occasions.

Only once, 64 times against Buffalo in the 95 playoffs.

Maybe we'll get another standout performance from Nathan Vasher like last year. I like Chicago's chances of winning it since they're at home. Both close calls were on the road.

I'm surprised that's it, considering Miami didn't even try running for a while in the 1990~ stretch. I knew one was against the Bills.

I'm glad ESPN hasn't gone into overdrive to sell Brett Favre closing in on Marino's td record.

Let's see how the predictions went for today:

Detroit at NY Jets: Tough one to call really. Lions got that elusive 1st win, but I figure the Jets to win here by about 6. (Jets won it by 7. 1 for 1)

Green Bay at Miami: Yeah, the Packers suck but losing to the Dolphins at this point is like franchise killing level bad. I'll take Favre over whoever Miami tosses out there. GB by 4. (Packers actually somewhat easier than that. 2 for 2)

San Diego at Kansas City: Chiefs are coming off a total beating and I'd certainly think SD would add to their woes. Chargers by 10. (Hmm...Chiefs are such a schitzo team. Upset here, so 2 for 3)

Pittsburgh at Atlanta: Steelers layed said beating on the Chiefs, but are they really back? Another tough call but I'll go with the Steelers pulling it out by 3. (Crap, this was a total tossup and I picked the wrong side. 2 for 4)

New England at Buffalo: Bills are struggling but should put up a tough effort at home. That said, the Patriots will pull this one off in typical fashion, something like 20-14. (Bills always seem to play the Pats tough once, then get crushed. 3 for 5)

Jacksonville at Houston: Jags coming off a bye week, but it's hard to say which team will show up. The team that can barely score 10 points, or the team that scored 41. I'll say somewhat in between, Jags 21-10. (Wow, this was a shocker to me. The Jags usually don't have really out of nowhere losses like this. They usually beat who they can beat and lose to those better than them. 3 for 6)

Carolina at Cincinnati: Bengals are on a 2 game slide, Panthers are playing well right now. Bengals need this really, really bad so I'll reluctantly take them to win here by 7 at home. (Hey, Bengals get a solid win today. 4 for 7)

Philadelphia at Tampa Bay: Are the Bucs regrouping to some extent? I can't see them winning this game but they'll keep it reasonably close. Eagles by 6. (62 yard FG wins it for TB! 4 for 8)

4:00:

Denver at Cleveland: This will be like watching paint dry. If either team gets to 20 I'd be surprised. Broncos should win another 17-10 type game. (It was 17-7, I think we all knew what this one was going to be. 5 for 9)

Arizona at Oakland: I'll go on a limb here, albeit not much of a limb. The Cardinals may well have a hangover after the debacle on Monday, so I will take the Raiders to pull of that elusive first win. Raiders 21-17. (Haha. Did anyone else have this? 6 for 10)

Washington at Indianapolis: Colts are coming off a bye week, Skins are struggling. I'll go with the Colts at home by 10, since they need the win before the tough road games at Denver and NE. (They won by 14 actually. 7 for 11)

Minnesota at Seattle: Vikings are still a bit of a mystery team, and if this was in MN I'd take them to win. In Seattle though? Nah. Seahawks by 10, 31-21. (This was one of the biggest surprises of the day. Vikings looked really solid. 7 for 12)

Man, there were several upsets this week. There's a reason I stopped betting.
