Youth N Asia Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Verlander vs. Reyes Rogers vs. Weaver Robertson vs. Carpenter Bonderman vs. Suppan Advantage: Tigers. + the bullpin...I think they're gonna win it
Vern Gagne Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 So Leyland would rather have Robertson start Game 7 then Bonderman?
vivalaultra Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 If I were Leyland, I woulda started the lefties back-to-back in games 1 and 2. The Cards have blown ass against lefties this year, and then this year's hottest Postseason pitcher, Kenny Rogers, coulda started two games at home where he's been really, really good this year. I guess if Leyland thought the Cards could take it to Game 7, he woulda down that...
The Niggardly King Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Tigers in 4, La Russa gets swept once again in the World Series.
Guest Princess Leena Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Detroit's pitching seems so much better that I don't see how they can lose. So, I'll take the Cards in 6, as anything can happen in baseball.
Vampiro69 Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 I figured that Leyland would go with Kenny Rogers for game one. He is a veteran that would be least likely to get flustered in game one of the World Series.
J. Hungerford Smith Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 I don't know where everyone is getting that the Cardinals pitching won't be able to hold off Detroit. You can say all you want about how mediocre they look on paper but they did throw 5 of 7 quality starts against the Mets who were arguably the best offense in MLB this year, and the bullpen has been pretty much nails. And are you all forgetting that Pujols had just one RBI in the NLCS as well? Everyone said before the playoffs that the Cardinals would have to get production from somewhere other than Pujols in the playoffs and they're doing exactly that, yet people continue to write them off.
Dobbs 3K Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 I can't cheer for the Cards, but an All-Midwest World Series is nice. Fuck ESPN. Tigers in 6.
Gert T Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Tigers in 4, La Russa gets swept once again in the World Series. Does La Russa hold the record for consecutive WS losses at 8? Because as a Cards fan he can get to 11 as long as St. Louis wins the series.
Star Ocean 3 Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Detroit is midwest now? Whoever wins, I hope it's on the road so I can watch a stunned, silent stadium like a few days ago.
Guest Princess Leena Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 We need an official map of what the midwest is.
Slayer Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Bordered by the Mississippi, the Rockies, and the Missouri Compromise Line
Slayer Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Oh hell no The Great Lakes States are neither mid nor west
vivalaultra Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Ya'll know what the midwest is? Young and restless. Yeah, Detroit has to win. Leyland's a better manager than TLR. I mean, Jim Leyland wears CLEATS in the dugout and he made Pudge play 2nd base once. And that is why Jim Leyland is the greatest manager in the history of baseball.
Guest Felonies! Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 "Midwest" is the worst geographic designation ever. And Saint Louis is a hard city to figure out, because they had the same waves of heavy German immigration as Chicago, Milwaukee, all your industrial cities of the Great Lakes area, but it's pretty far removed from those. According to the whole Nine Nations thing, St. Louis and Cincinnati are in there with the rest of the Rust Belt or whatever, even if it doesn't make the greatest deal of sense. At any rate, what St. Louis and Detroit do have in common is a ridiculously high level of white flight.
Slayer Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 "Midwest" is the worst geographic designation ever. Says the guy from the cow-raping state
Slayer Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 I don't really have an argument, I just wanted to bring up the subject of cow rape
snuffbox Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Kansas don't got no room to talk 'bout cow rapin'
Bruiser Chong Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 It may be betraying my Cubs' fandom, but part of me wants to see the Cards win, if for no other reason than everyone has already written them off.
Guest Felonies! Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Is Bones supposed to be serious? They're having lots of fun. Oh, and why do they need World Series patches on their hats and sleeves? We fucking know it's the World Series.
CanadianChris Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 I am so happy to finally be free of fox for the World Series.
Slayer Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Oh, and why do they need World Series patches on their hats and sleeves? We fucking know it's the World Series. But do they know it's the World Series?
Guest Felonies! Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Oh, and why do they need World Series patches on their hats and sleeves? We fucking know it's the World Series. But do they know it's the World Series? Tonight thank God it's them instead of the Astros
Slayer Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 But then we don't get Phil Garner's "Adventures in Lineups"
Guest Felonies! Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 But then we don't get Phil Garner's "Adventures in Lineups" Well, we do have Tony La Russa's, so I guess it's quantity over quality this year. We need a good Tim McCarverism tonight. Something to surpass "David Eckstein has 20 digits: 10 fingers, and 10 toes."
Slayer Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Reyes has a pair of 19th-century legs on him
Guest Felonies! Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Not enough striped stirrups in baseball these days.
Mik Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Czech, you should already know the answer to that question. Merchandising. I own a Marlins hat w/ a WS logo.
