This week in the NBA

Great second half by the Clippers, finally playing to their potential.

Down 7 at the half they beat the Mavs by 18. Mobley and Cassell doing the damage.

Funny Note: Clipper fans started an "0 and 4" chant directed toward the Mavs, ironic coming from Clipper fans

We all know that this will change by the end of the year, but who would have guessed that on any day of the season the following would be true. . .

1st in their division -> Atlanta, NO/OK, Utah

As far as making the playoffs, Atlanta and Utah's status will not change. They will make the playoffs by a comfortable margin.

My God, it TRULY is a new day in the Clipper Nation if that is happening.

And ATLANTA in the playoffs? I'll wait and see on that.

I can see this is going in the direction of the arguments that I had with X about Kobe Bryant

Ack, not again. Man, that was like 2 seasons ago. We talked about this. I'm not THAT bad of a Kobe fan. There are far worse. I'm not even as much of a Laker fan nowadays, though maybe that's why I've been more rational as well.

How come nobody is talking about Lebron walking off the court with 10 seconds to go. Espn sure is making a big deal about it. I am pissed that the Knicks won tonight. I think with every loss it brings us closer to Isiah getting fired. Stop Winning!!!!!!

Guest Felonies!

And every loss helps the Bulls obtain a higher draft pick! Chicago plays the Cavaliers tonight, by the way.

Ben Wallace has no offensive skills and he's a star in the league.

Ben Wallace still puts the numbers up in the rebounds and blocks catagories while it can be considered a miracle if Bowen makes more than one 3 pointer in a game from the corner. Plus Ben Wallace gets attention for the afro.

Bowen is a thug

Bruce speaks proper english, has no visible tatoos and never complains about practice.

ndulge us. The players themselves place only Fortson above him.

Jason Terry for the low blow punch on Michael Finley.

The funny thing is after Fokai made that post asking you to name someone, I was expecting you to name a Maverick. Glad to see you didn't disappoint.

I was going to pick a random Blazer, Piston, Pacer but since Danny Fortson was a Mav well I had to go with Jason Terry. I could of gone with the Pacers Steven Jackson but he was a Spur, or Ron Artest for bitch smacking some fans, or Sheed Wallace for all the technical foul totals over the years or all of the players that are giving poor Mo Cheeks heart attacks on a daily basis.

Bruce Bowen is as clean as Dane Cook is funny, Raz.

People still pay to see his concerts and movies.

Not speaking proper english, having tattoos, and complaining about practice makes you a thug?

If a basketball player has cornrows then he might be a thug.

Between last year's salary and the buyout he received from the Knicks, Larry Brown pocketed $28.5 million for one year's work. That's more than $1 million per win. He's also 100% free to coach anywhere else if he likes. I want him and his agent to negotiate my next salary increase at my current job, or I want to work for Isiah Thomas, whichever opportunity comes first.

Bad news for K-Mart: Nuggets forward facing another surgery

CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

DENVER -- At the morning shootaround, Kenyon Martin talked about how good it felt to feel good again. By nightfall, he was down in the dumps, facing yet another knee surgery. Advertisement

An MRI on Wednesday night revealed loose cartilage that needs to be removed through arthroscopy.

"I won't be out the entire season, but I have no idea at this point," the Denver Nuggets forward said about a timetable for his return.

At the Nuggets' shootaround, Martin talked about how good his surgically repaired left knee felt and how he was getting back to full strength for the first time since undergoing microfracture surgery 18 months ago.

He was taped up and ready to play against the New York Knicks when a team doctor went into the locker room and sent him for tests on his swollen right knee.

"Right now I'm at a loss for words, you know what I'm saying? I worked my BUTT off in training camp. For this to happen now, I'm down in the dumps," Martin told the Associated Press. "But I've dealt with worse, so I've just got to fight through it."

Last year, Martin was limited to a career-low 56 games and he was suspended in the playoffs for his tirade at the coaching staff for limiting his minutes against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Conventional wisdom said K-Mart had played his last game for Denver, but with five years and more than $66 million left on his contract, he didn't get a ticket out of town that everybody expected.

Instead, he and coach George Karl patched up their relationship.

Martin, who averaged 9.5 points and 10 rebounds in Denver's first two games, said he has no idea how or when he hurt his "good" knee.

"That's the most frustrating thing," Martin said. "I have no clue. None whatsoever. How I did it or what day I did it."

He's just wondering when his luck will turn.

"I need something. Rabbit's foot, something," he said. "I have no idea at this point what Kenyon needs to do."

At least the Nuggets have a bevy of big men again this season, including Reggie Evans and Joe Smith.

"This is an unfortunate situation that you hate to see a teammate go through, but at the same time this is where the depth helps," Smith said.

Eduardo Najera, who replaced him in the lineup Wednesday night, called Martin's loss a big blow.

"It's very difficult to lose him. He's been a leader and he sets the tone with his aggressive play and personality," Najera said. "It will take some time for us to adjust.

"I think that Martin is irreplaceable, but combined all our big guys can do a pretty good job."

Sucks for K-Mart, but I'm really glad the Knicks didn't land him as was expected.

Bruce Bowen is a great man. Greater than Einstein!

Well Bruce has found the loophole to get away with injuring people without the reprecussions of suspension or fines! Bruce Bowen is indeed a basketball genius but you can't compare a baller to a scientist.

Update: Bell sat out Thursday's loss to the Mavericks with a rib bruise that occured Wednesday night in a hard collision that knocked him out of the Suns' game against the Spurs. While the team would prefer that Bell sit out Saturday's game, Bell wants to get back on the court, according to the Arizona Republic.

Recommendation: Official word is that the injury would sideline Bell for seven to 10 days, but we saw during last year's playoffs that Bell is willing to tough out his injuries if he can. After Saturday, the Suns get a long break, so Bell will not miss much time either way.

Don't blame Bruce Bowen for this.
