Thanks for the Fish 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 From pwinsider - Paul Heyman was sent home from today's Monday Night Raw/ECW taping in North Carolina. We are still working on the story, but the word going around is that he's been let go by the company following last night's ECW PPV. There is a meeting ongoing currently with ECW talents about Heyman's departure. World Wrestling Entertainment posted an article on their website, citing, "The WWE Chairman cited slumping television ratings and a disgruntled talent roster as causes for Mr. Heyman’s dismissal." I'm pretty sure they didn't really fire him. Probably just allowing him to go on vacation and PWinsider is just guessing. If they fired him, ROH and TNA will be sitting there waiting for him. claydude14 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 I wish they would let Heyman go, and quietly turn ECW into the third WWE brand like they want. No point in pretending it is something it's not anymore.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 Mike Johnson at PWInsider posted this: Paul Heyman was sent home from today's Monday Night Raw/ECW taping in North Carolina following a meeting with Vince McMahon. We are still working on the story, but the word going around is that Heyman has been removed from the WWE's ECW creative team and looks to be entirely done with WWE at this point and time, although he's not (yet) been released from his contractual obligations. According to one source, Heyman had a meeting with Vince McMahon and was then escorted from the venue. There is a meeting ongoing currently with ECW talents about Heyman's departure. World Wrestling Entertainment posted an article on their website, noting that Heyman was sent home (but not released), citing, "The WWE Chairman cited slumping television ratings and a disgruntled talent roster as causes for Mr. Heyman’s dismissal." PWInsider.com will have more on the story shortly, but at this point and time, tomorrow's episode of ECW on SciFi looks to be the first produced without the input of Paul Heyman. Either Heyman really is gone, or a lot of people are believing he is.

Thanks for the Fish 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 They won't release him contractually. they'll pay him to sit on his ass at home before they'd let TNA get a hold of him. I wonder if Heyman could get out of his contract though, I guess it would depend on the language in the contract and if he wanted to give up the money he would be making for doing nothing. haVoc 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 I can believe it. Heyman probably spoke up again so they fired him. Of course they're going to spin it in their favor. Just like Kurt Angle left WWE headquarters crying, broken hearted and on the verge of suicide.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 More from PWI: As Mike reported a few minutes ago, Paul Heyman is gone from WWE. From talking to a number of people in company, the impression I received was that Vince McMahon was irate about how awful the PPV was last night and wanted to pin the blame on Heyman for it. Anyone who knows anything about Heyman's booking, as I have for years now, have a pretty good idea that the show was much more McMahon than Heyman. But according to people I spoke with, Heyman got pinned with the blame for it with the theory being that "he is caught in the past and doesn't understand the new vision of ECW". You know, the vision that ends PPVs a half hour early and makes the fans boo what WWE creative books for them. The problems started yesterday at the ECW PPV when everyone realized that the show really stunk. Heyman was said to be unhappy with the way that the show was booked (big shock right) and sources backstage told me that he voiced that concern both before the show and after it. People at TV told me today that it was obvious that there were issues between Vince McMahon and Heyman because of the how the show played out on pay TV, with everyone knowing it was a disaster. Problems carried over from last night and led to the incidents that happened today. A number of sources told me that there was a meeting today around two o'clock with Heyman, Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon-Levesque at the building. Heyman came out the meeting and seemed like his normal self, with no one I talked to having any idea that something bad had happened. Shortly thereafter, Heyman gathered his things and left the building to go home. The word going around from everyone I talked to is that this is not a storyline in any way and he is legitimately done with the company.
JPopStarKami 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 http://www.wwe.com/shows/ecw/news/heymanout Distraught by the results of December to Dismember, ECW Representative Paul Heyman appeared to be distant and depressed this afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum hours before an ECW live event. This condition was further exasperated by Mr. McMahon, who decided to send Heyman home. The WWE Chairman cited slumping television ratings and a disgruntled talent roster as causes for Mr. Heyman’s dismissal. Check back with ECW.com for updates on the status on Paul Heyman and ECW. Similar to what was posted earlier, except this is straight from the mouth of the WWE.com site.
Man Who Sold The World 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 Imagine the shit he has to say about WWE now. This WILL be the shoot interview to end all shoot interviews. Heyman's going to tear them a new asshole in ROH or TNA.
Dips 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 IF Heyman was released by WWE would TNA take him? Does he have any issues with the people in power there?
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 Is there not bad blood between Cornette and Heyman? Not sure what influence that would have if he ever went to TNA.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 If Cornette can tolerate Russo, he can tolerate Heyman. For one thing, Cornette respects Heyman's ability when it comes to booking and his mind for wrestling.
mfn 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 How the hell can you put the blame on Heyman? Anyone who has been a 'smark' long enough to KNOW how Heyman books knows for a fact that there was very little, if any, Heyman booking on this show. I just hope Heyman isn't bound to the WWE via contract if he is infact done with the company. A brilliant mind like Heyman could do wonders for ROH or TNA. dubq 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 Heyman needs to show up as Angle's manager. It's cliche, I know, but it'd fucking rule. Admit it.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 I don't blame Heyman for anything that has happened, but honestly, I'm surprised he lasted this long.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 If anything, TNA would just boot Cornette aside if there is a power struggle between the two and that's unlikey. As it were, maybe Heyman would finally just leave the business. He won't go to ROH because ROH doesn't need Heyman. Gabe is just as good, if not BETTER then Heyman is and ROH doesn't need to revisit the commish angle again. Heyman could do a SSS with them, that's for sure and it'd probably outsell the Bruno, Raven, Cornette/Heenan, Foley and Joe/Punk shoots by a landslide. However, this does smell like a work that'll disintegrate into a total mess.
mfn 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 I don't blame Heyman for anything that has happened, but honestly, I'm surprised he lasted this long. I don't see how anyone who has been following wrestling for a while, mainly the smarks, could possibly blame Heyman for honestly the WORST wrestling show I have ever sat and watched. I've seen indy shows with better booking than last nights show. I blame McMahon for this. McMahon and anyone else involved in the 'McMahon' vision of pro wrestling. Human Fly 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 Well, I am surprised he lasted this long with the way things were structured. He had mentioned last year that when his contract was up with WWE in December of 2005 he wanted to start a new promotion. Be interesting to see how the contract situation shakes out. Does anyone know how many years he resigned for?
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 They didn't fire him. At the most, if (big IF) this really happened then they sent him home and told him he would no longer be used and will only allow his release if the remainder of his contract is bought out. Which will mean Heyman won't be going anywhere and just will never be heard of again.
Annabelle 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 heyman going to tna would be just as big or bigger than angle. with only a pedestrian interest in wrestling nowadays, watching the wwe self-destruct is beautiful. granted i have fond childhood memories of their wrestling, but now its beyond awful. i actually am now wondering if tna has a chance. maybe?
