bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2007 It's official on ESPN.com, Chris Webber to sign with the Pistons. Aside from the obvious, the big benefit is that now we have an expendable big man that can hopefully net us a real backup point, which dumars is actively pursuing right now (flip murray blows chunks and has been horrible running the point with billups out). There were rumors about Mo Pete, but I dont think Colangelo will bite on that one.

Just John 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2007 Minnesota's on a hot streak and is the currently the #7 team in the West. Whether or not they stay there until the end of the season remains to be seen, however. There is a huge quality gap between the 6 and 7 spots this year in the West. There are about 4 average teams vying for those last two spots.

Guest Report post Posted January 16, 2007 Mr. Bean held Wade in check during the 2nd half last night when the Lakers won. I guess he's our "stopper". I really don't like that though, because he was gassed by the end of the game.

Guest Report post Posted January 16, 2007 Yeah, he's the worst defensive player on the team. I wouldn't want him guarding a team's 4th option down the stretch.

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2007 Big trade on ESPN.com The Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Ike Diogu and Keith McLeod to the Pacers for Stephen Jackson (left), Al Harrington, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Josh Powell, sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein. Wow its like they traded half their rosters. I think the Pacers win out just for getting rid of Stephen 'we ride togetha!' Jackson. Seriously though, Ike Diogu is a nice little pickup, and i've considered the non-Jermaine frontcourt to be a big weakness of the Pacers.

Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Report post Posted January 17, 2007 So they traded the Pacers for the Warriors. Interesting. I bet the Warriors still miss the playoffs. Also, why is an increasingly loathesome four-letter network making a big deal out of Chris Webber? If he had to be bought out, he can't be such a big coup. They're propably only making a big deal out of it due to the little bit of name recognition that Webber has left. I think the Indy/GS trade works out well for both parties. I guess because people still know the name Chris Webber. I remember that they made a huge deal when the Sixers acquired him from the Kings when he was no more than a walking corpse at the time. Guest Report post Posted January 18, 2007 I think the Pacers got fucked in that trade. Were they trying to market to the area by getting all those white guys, or what. I've always thought Murphy was a stiff, but I like Dunleavy.

Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2007 To repeat, I can't believe people believe that the Pacers got screwed in this deal. I can't either. I give the edge to Indiana, with it being at worst for them an even swap. Troy Murphy averages a double double for his career and can stretch a defense with his outside shooting. He never found his role playing in Nelson's run n' gun, but he should be a nice fit next to Jermaine O'Neal on a more half court oriented team. Ike Diogu is only 23, a little unpolished, but a ton of upside. He never got minutes with Golden State but he's got the potential to be a beast on the inside. Another guy who pairs well with O'Neal. I'm surprised to see the Warriors trade both Murphy and Diogu. Mike Dunleavy has been an inconsistent pro, and moving his contract might be the biggest plus for the Warriors. He might never live up to his potential, but he's got a lot of talent as well, and a change of scenery should be good for him. There's been talk that he and Baron Davis didn't get along, and like Murphy he never fit into the role that Don Nelson envisioned for him. Al Harrington is the key piece for the Warriors. He's a nice, versatile player who should be a good fit for Nelson's style. Stephen Jackson is a total head case and it's addition by subtraction for the Pacers. With Baron Davis and Monta Ellis getting so many minutes and both playing very well, and Jason Richardson due back at some point after the all-star break, along with Mickael Pietrus, I don't see him being a long term fit for the Warriors, and he's not a guy you want around if he's not getting a lot of minutes/shots. Jasikevicius is a good backup PG, but again, with Davis, Ellis and eventually Richardson on the team he's not going to get a whole lot of minutes. Josh Powell is a young forward that I've read some nice things about, both the Mavericks and Pacers had good things to say about him, but he never played much for either team. So the way I see it the Pacers added two good young big men who should fit their style of play, got rid of Stephen Jackson (A++++), and took a shot on Mike Dunleavy blossoming in a new situation. The Warriors got a quality starter in Al Harrington, a solid backup PG, and shedded some payroll, but had to take on the seemingly untradable Jackson to do it, and also now have an excess of perimeter players and a lack of depth at the 4-5. Looks to me like the Pacers got the edge both short-term and long-term. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see Indiana working on another deal, possibly redirecting Dunleavy to the LAC for Corey Maggette.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2007 I want to retract my statement for now, after looking at Murphy's stats, as I had thought he had struggled with injury his whole career, but it was just one season a couple years ago. So my mistake on that one. I'd like to see Daniels start over Dunleavy, at least at first, to get some defense out there on the perimeter. But I don't know what the point was for dumping Sarunas in that deal, unless it was to match salaries. Who the hell is Keith McLeod?

Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2007 It is amazing, the gap between the Lakers, Spurs, Mavericks, Suns, and Rockets, and everyone else in the league. The wacky things is one of these teams is gonna end up as a FIVE seed. If they were in the East, they would be heading to the East finals with very little thought or trepedation.
