Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 don't get me wrong, she's still a pretty girl, she just lost a lot of her appeal by going Hollywood. She pulled off the girl-next-door look so well, pretty much to a T...why muck it up? Kat was never GND quality. She had the hollywood looks from the start. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 dude, Tara Reid, Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan etc. are "Hollywood types"...you could see a chick like McPhee at the local grocery store buying some milk and doritos.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 I've never had anyone look like Kat McPhee next door, maybe you live in a better, hotter, neighbourhood . McPhee was more like mall hot. Haley was like the worst slut ever, too. She looked as natural as a baby giraffe on ice skates.

McPhee was more like mall hot. okay okay okay, you may be right, but she certainly wasn't "Hollywood" yet, we can at least agree on that, no?
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 12, 2007 Kat recently released some shitty album with mostly horrible "damsel in distress because boy doesn't love me" filth. She can't get into soap operas or Disney shit fast enough. Then, do porn. Kat wasn't perfect, but she's a gorgeous gal in many areas. What is special with Haley. She has nice legs. And that's about it. It's too bad Alaina couldn't sing at all and sounded like a heavy smoker out of breath after 10 seconds, compared to Haley's cruise-like decent yawn-inducing singing. She's 1000x cuter than Haley.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 McPhee was a Scientologist, that's practically a Hollywood religion. McPhee had the curves and cheeks that you don't normally see in Hollywood (or see briefly, get attracted to, and then see get lost all of a sudden for the more sunk-in look... mmm, meth hot), so in that way, she was semi-regular. Still, she had a stage mom and was very much a theatre chick. Not much you can do about that.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 I forgot about the Scientology thing....instant thumbs down on that one.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 on a McPhee side note, one of my daughter's dance recital numbers this year is to her version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 She's 1000x cuter than Haley. This is beyond untrue. I'm not saying Haley is the most attractive woman on Earth, or anything, but easily (easily!) the most attractive woman to pass through Idol's doors.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 No, no, no. That means she's crazy. That's hot. Like, Kelly Preston hot. Or Jenna Elfman hot. Eeeh... let's stick with Kelly Preston hot. And boo to those who be hatin on Haley's titties. Especially when her hair and make up are much bigger targets. Plus she had huge arms. Like, she had bigger arms than Phil, Sanjaya, Chris, and Blake put together.

I'm not saying Haley is the most attractive woman on Earth, or anything, but easily (easily!) the most attractive woman to pass through Idol's doors. That's a strong, strong statement. I'd argue that Christina Christian, Kimberly Caldwell, Julia DeMato, Camile Velasco, Becky O'Donohue are more attractive. Of course, I'd probably also argue that Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila is the most attractive contestant I've seen on either North American Idol show. All a matter of opinion, I suppose. Mik 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 I recently watched my darling Katharine's audition tape. Yeah... she lost a lot of weight between now and then. Dare I say she was borderline chubby then? I still would marry her instantly but you know...
Atticus Chaos 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 It was interesting to note the difference in Lopez and Stefani. J'Lo seemed quite patient with everyone and praised people. Stefani you could tell thought most of them were a joke and threw in some thinly veiled barbs. Guess it shows the difference between someone who isn't much of a musical talent and mainly gets by with studio production compared with someone who paid dues in an actual band for years. Yeah, cause if Gwen had had that chance of a short cut to fame, she wouldn't have taken it. Stefani did seem kind of snooty towards them all, and really she had no right to be. Their just capitilizing on a chance presented to them, like anyone else would do. Some people pay their dues, some don't have to. It's just the way the cookie crumbles. I bet if AI had been around when 10 or 15 years ago, she would have been lining up to try out. Also, this has probably been touched on before: if the judges are so unhappy with the prospect of Sanjaya winning (and Simon says he'll quit) why on earth did they let him in the final 24? I'm no expert but I don't think you should let someone get that far unless you're comfortable with them winning.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 for filler. They needed people who weren't that great, so the ones they really wanted to win would have less competition
Atticus Chaos 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 for filler. They needed people who weren't that great, so the ones they really wanted to win would have less competition Well, if that's true, they deserve whatever they get.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 15, 2007 for filler. They needed people who weren't that great, so the ones they really wanted to win would have less competition Not filler. Idol takes people who might be entertaining for a reality show. That's the goal after all. The formula the last few years appears to be to take a handful of talented singers (less this year), and the rest fill their stereotypical roles. If Idol truly wanted the 24 best singers, I think they could easily find enough in the Melinda/LaKisha talent range. This year it's really obvious as every one of the later contestants have played to their roles perfectly. However, none of them are really building a big following (except Sanjaya, but in a negative way), which is why this season is a disaster.

I do remember reading that originally Jennifer Hudson didn't even make it into the last 24 (she later got in on the wildcard round). So, it is likely that rather than 24 of the best, that they do pick a few intentionally bad singers to give Simon someone to throw insults at.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Ouch. Simon's really tearing into Sanjaya this week.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Phil stepped up tonight and Jordin was solid. Sanjaya's run better end tonight. Not that Phil deserves to stick around but he did well tonight. Sanjaya's act has run stale. He'll probably stick around one more week since I expect Chris to finally bottom out. Also, one of the big two is bound to have a really off night and lose votes because of voter confidence.

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 covering a Carrie Underwood song? ...whoah. Quite brave. I think if it was anyone else but Lakisha, they would've turned down the song choice.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Country has a rich history but she's doing a quite recent song by an idol winner? OK. At least she didn't take the easy way out with "Always Love You".

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 I gotta agree Lushus. It's definetly not one of her strongest performances. I think she was off-key when she hit the chorus... The song is too familiar not to make comparisons.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Didn't someone do Kelly at this stage last year and bomb it and it led them to the slaughter? Or was that a previous season? Anyways, I said for weeks once these two got out of their comfort range and they will slip. That was the case with LaKisha here. It won't murder her, though with Sanjaya and Chris hanging around.
