In Credible 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2007 I saw it today, and it fucking rocked. I thought it may be a let down, but it was actually better than I thought it would be. It has a lot more emotion than I thought it would and a nice cameo by Mathew Fox. Definately check it out, it's nearly as brainless as you'd think.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2007 I want to check it out but the reviews have me worried. I normally don't give a crap what critics have to say, but they're so uniform in their comments about the movie (bad characterizations, a tacked on ending that's out of place) that I'm afraid they're on to something. I'll probably still go watch it assuming I ever get a day off work (which may not be until Super Bowl Sunday).
migoli 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2007 I just seen it and it was pretty good, not as much action as you might think but by no means without good solid action. My biggest problem, not enough Piven!
Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2007 Great action, the story was alright. However it was nice to see Carnahan put in a reference to Sacramento with the tv station in the cabin. I was really suprised of how much more dramatic than action it was.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2007 I just seen it and it was pretty good, not as much action as you might think but by no means without good solid action. My biggest problem, not enough Piven! This might be enough to keep me away. The story of a dozen hitmen all planning to kill someone sounded really boring. The only thing that made me want to see the movie was the idea of Piven as the degenerate, strung-out, mob snitch.
In Credible 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2007 Piven is great for what he does though, really good stuff. "Oh Eastern European Jizz!!!"
Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2007 Once again for the record Jeremy Piven is my hero, I've been a fan of his since PCU and Cupid (which was a show that got a raw deal).
Just John 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2007 Question about the ending that really confused me: If Primo Sparazza was really that FBI agent from 50 years ago, why are they trying to get Buddy Israel's heart for a transplant? They said Sparazza wanted Israel because as his son he'd be a guaranteed blood match, but if Sparazza is really someone else, how can that be the case? Or did the FBI agent father Israel when he was undercover as Sparazza?
genius33 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2007 this was one of the most disappointing movies i have ever seen. it was built up really well and the conclusion was pure shit. and nothing aggravates me more than people who are undoubtedly dead, yet they somehow come back. Mik 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2007 Yeah the end ruined it a bit. It was still a good movie but the ending... meh.
Special K 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2007 Who does Jason Bateman play? He gets an 'and' credit, yet out of the few reviews I've read, he isn't even mentioned.
Mik 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2007 An attorney that hires Affleck and his team. Very, very small role. But he's funny for the 5 minutes he's on screen.

Or did the FBI agent father Israel when he was undercover as Sparazza? Primo IS the FBI agent and always was..there never was a Primo until the agent became him..yes he was shot but then had all the work done to become Primo...you can see the scar on his cheek..and as Primo he fathered Isreal and the FBI wants him cuz he has 50 years of mob info of which I agree with Ryan Reynolds is damn near worthless
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2007 This is one of those movies I was hyped to see months before it was released, but after the "meh" reaction thus far from the majority of reviewers and fans alike, I think I will wait to catch it on DVD. I want to give Joe Carnahan a chance as a director since he is local and I really liked Narc(thought it was underrated) and his first film "Blood Guts and High Octane" was a neat little indy piece, but so far I am seeing a lot of style of substance and he really gives off a post-Tarrantino film viewing vibe, but then again he is still relatively new to the game. I still think he has great potential as a director, the raw skill is there.
Sideburnious 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2007 I thought it was a fun movie but it tried to be too "clever" with plot twists. I think if it had just been simply about a hit on a guy and 12 different hitmen kicking the shit out of each other in order to get to the hit on the top floor it would have worked much better. All the preformances are great and the production quality etc is good but I think it just tried too hard for something that could have been easy.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2007 It was really good until the ending. Seriously, how dumb was that... Sad that every new movie HAS to have a twist these days.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2007 I saw the movie and really enjoyed it. The ending annoyed me a little at first but I eventually wound up liking it. Totally unexpected.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 Holy Batshit! I completely loved this movie. To go from such action and emotion to the FBI backstory which I think was figure-out-able near the end slowed things down, but it was very fun. I also loved Mathew Fox's death in the movie, it was sad, but good
