20 games (or fewer) left in the regular season. Time to begin the playoff push. Tomorrow is a rare interesting slate of Friday games -- Pittsburgh at Carolina, Toronto at New Jersey, Ottawa at Atlanta, Montreal at Buffalo and San Jose at Anaheim are all key matchups.

Henrik Zetterburg is out 2-3 weeks for the Red Wings with an injured back.

The Sabres will destroy another pathetic Canuck team with Joe Blow and some guy in the crowd in their lineup.

What sucks the most was that the first diagnosis said he'd be back by Friday. It just got even tougher for the Wings to win the Central and the West. He was also on his way to having an MVP type season but that's pretty much ruined now.

Soooooooo many three-point games. Every game that's ended so far tonight has gone to OT or a shootout. Tampa Bay and Washington went to the tenth shooter before the Lightning finally won it.

Buffalo easily disposes Montreal.

Yeah, things are going far too well. Hurry up, painful playoff loss.

Anyone catch Martin Gerber hacking Chris Phillips finger on the bench? The best was the reaction of the guy sitting next to Phillips (not sure who it was). I laughed.

I liked the guy's comment on the YouTube site: "Imagine what would have happened if he'd hit Emery instead of Phillips".

Only one game on tap tonight, the Isles make a short drive to MSG to take on the Rangers.

When I had Molson That's Hockey on, they showed a few clips of the first period before switching back to curling; Midway through the first, the Rangers were outshooting 11-1.

Mike, can you buy a voodoo DiPietro doll or something? A Rangers win is less harmful to the Habs at this point.

Well, apparently there are reports that Guy Carbonneau does not like Russian players.

Truth or not, the only European that is playing well for the Habs is Koivu.

That rangers/isles game was one of the better ones I've seen this year. Great goaltending, lot's of fun offense, playoff implications, plus a shootout. I approve.

if dipietro plays like this in the playoffs, the isles will be REAL dangerous. i made a real puss pick having them come out of the east, but really, they have a lot of pieces. yashin can be a detriment, though. as long as they don't have to face the devils first round.

Kovalev denied that he ever said that.

So in their last three games, the Senators have blown a one-goal third period lead against Atlanta (lost 4-2), a two-goal third period lead against Chicago (lost 4-3 in a shootout), and now a THREE-goal third period lead against Pittsburgh (lost 5-4 in a shootout). Things aren't looking so good for the playoffs right now.

Toronto moves into eighth with its win, and Iginla assists on three unanswered goals (two of them by prodigal Craig Conroy) to win the Flames fifth straight over St. Louis.

Heh, I wouldn't mind seeing Toronto finishing in 8th. A nice quick sweep to open up the playoffs.

To make matters worse, their coach's reaction to all that was that of a zombie, staring mindlessly at the proceedings, while the crowd at Scotiabank Place knew he needed to call a timeout to rally the troops. This team is loaded with talent, but lacks the killer instinct when it counts the most during games, and it showed last night. Things like this contribute to those first round disappointment the Senators have had in past seasons.

As for the Penguins, the best player on the ice last night (on both squads) wasn't Crosby or Malkin, but Jordan Staal. This kid is 18 years old and was the most complete player on the ice. He's big, a superb skater, excellent with the puck, and strong on defense. An excellent all-around player. Basically, he's a bigger Steve Yzerman, and is going to be a star in this league for a long, long time.

Heh

No.

The Leafs probably aren't making the playoffs, but I don't think they'd be an easy sweep. They've beaten Buffalo twice now, and are a good road team. If they could stop playing like ass at home...maybe they'd have something

So I finally saw the hit from Cam Jannsen on Tomas Kaberle. A beauty of hit if Tomas just passed the puck, but it was dirty.

Yeah, they really do. I can see that team getting ran over by a bigger team.

When I say ran over, I mean literally. They can't "out-physical" anyone, and they don't have too many gritty players or any defensive defensemen.
