Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/kingbookerout Friday night was not a pleasant one for SmackDown’s resident royalty, King Booker. First, his majesty suffered a disappointing loss to Matt Hardy in one-on-one action, and later, his attempted ambush on Undertaker was thwarted in a big way when he was driven head first onto the announce table via a thunderous Tombstone Piledriver. As a result of the beating he received from the Deadman, King Booker suffered multiple injuries. WWE.com received the following update from World Wrestling Entertainment physician Dr. Rios on the King’s condition: “As a result of the Tombstone from Undertaker on Friday night, King Booker suffered a sprain, and strained contusion of the neck,” said Dr. Rios. WWE.com has also learned that while recovering from his encounter with the Phenom, King Booker will be treated for a previous chronic knee injury, where he has a meniscus tear, and a chronic elbow strain and sprain. There is no timetable for the King’s recovery, but stay tuned to WWE.com for more information as it becomes available. Not having Book on TV every week is going to suck, but at lease he went out w/ an awesome match w/ Matt Hardy. Does he come back w/out the King gimmick? I'd like to see a face run without dumping the gimmick, but I'm not holding my breath.

Ace Austin 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 So what was the point of Sharmell turning on him? Was he really trying to impress her by ambushing Undertaker?
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 FYI, the real reason for his absence is knee problems and he could be back in June (PWI).
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Yea he put over Matt Hardy too IN THE ACTUAL MATCH he had......but let's not remember that. Well, it's not like Matt will ever get any kind of serious push, so it's not like it means anything.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 So what was the point of Sharmell turning on him? Was he really trying to impress her by ambushing Undertaker? Sharmell wasn't happy about Booker not being a man and standing up for his wife by losing to Matt Hardy. She slapped him to showcase her disappointment and Booker thought if he took out the champion, he'd look like a man again to his wife but failed completely. Simplistic purpose and execution here. Guest Wrestling Icon Report post Posted April 7, 2007 What a dam shame I was hoping a feud would be built from this because that is what I and I am sure a lot of other fans wanted to see. Undertaker vs Booker T was a great match for Backlash

Guest Wrestling Icon Report post Posted April 7, 2007 What a dam shame I was hoping a feud would be built from this because that is what I and I am sure a lot of other fans wanted to see. Undertaker vs Booker T was a great match for Backlash Weren't the last three feuds between these two enough? These two never click well. They have never worked together in a championship feud. I think for the championship the feud could only mean so much more. I think in the ring they worked together for very. I think they could do very well today but the feud will not happen as of yet but may happen on Booker Ts return?
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Yeah cause after jobbing to Matt Hardy clean anyone would take Booker seriously challenging UT for the title. This injury makes sense now, more than adding Booker to a main event after jobbing to Matt.
Naked Snake 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 It's actually good timing. Someone else can win King of the Ring and Booker can say he lost the "King" part without having to job in the tournament. Then he can feud with the winner of the tourney for the rights to the name.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 I wonder if they'll bother. Last year's SmackDown only KOTR seemed designed to put Lashley over but it was instead used to make a new character (which worked out for the better). I don't know what angle they'd make out of it this year unless they want to go "Mr. Money in the Bank, Mr. King Kennedy".
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 If it was designed in the vein of Bret's victory, to put over someone as the top wrestler (although Bret was a previous world champion) instead of creating a new gimmick for a mid-card act (Haku, Owen, Mabel, HHH, Angle) it can be effective but only in that regard. Using that to put over someone like CM Punk or Elijah Burke could be valuable. Simply revive the one night 16 man concept (which can be used for any of the summer PPV's), utilizing all three brands, allows for an easy and marketable sell for a PPV and to set up future programs as well. If it's just to give Kennedy another nickname or make a gimmick change, it's not worth it.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Actually, yeah, with all PPVs being multi-brand it wouldn't be a terrible idea to run a full tournament. I would suggest Vengeance since (and I haven't checked the latest schedule) it's usually two weeks before a PPV that will now be exactly the same as any other. They need to do something different in June, that's for sure.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 While I'm upset King Booker is injured. I think they should set up an angle out of this. Booker's gone for roughly two months. He could come back after the King of The Ring tournament and battle with the new king. King Vs King ala Haku Vs Harley Race.
foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Benoit should win King of the Ring. Then they could do Booker vs Benoit and they can have a best of 7 series for both the title of King and the US title culminating at Summerslam!
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Going back to the discussion regarding the idea of using a PPV (such as GAB, ONS or Vengeance) revolving around a one night tournament, considering the current plan of assimilating the three brands for PPV's and the loaded mid-card from each respective brand, they are capable of producing a tremendous card. Using ONS, which will have a hard time selling on its own since it doesn't have the ECW exclusive attachment and is just another summer show should use the KOTR gimmick to sell the show alongside a special attraction main event.
