vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 Even more bad news for the Cardinals. In the midst of a 9-0 blowout at the hands of my Houston Astros, I just heard that Chris Carpenter, who was on the verge of coming back, is now scheduled to have arthroscopic elbow surgery next week and will be out at least another three months. Not even a trade for Jeff Weaver can help them now, methinks.
Guest Richard McBeef Report post Posted May 5, 2007 George Will dropped by to share his five favorite presidents: Jefferson, Lincoln, Eisenhower, Reagan, and Coolidge. The Nationals, they ain't too fuckin' good. They're walking the Cubs. The Cubs!

vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 The final tally in St. Louis was 13-0 'Stros. Pujols, Rolens, and Edmonds all went hitless. Matt Albers pitched 7 1/3 innings of 3 hit ball. The Cardinals only got 3 singles all day. Hunter Pence hit his first major league homerun in the 7th. It was a grand slam. Good win today.
Guest Richard McBeef Report post Posted May 5, 2007 I've always been a big proponent of never counting out the Cardinals, but I think 10 under is when I will count them out. North Siders are back to .500, but they still have a whole lot of work to do. I can say that things have been looking better hitting-wise since Theriot took over at shortstop and Soriano moved to left. Zambrano still isn't pitching like a man in his contract year, though, and that's cause for concern. Jason Marquis can't sustain a 2.25 ERA and strong run support forever, you know, and we don't really have a fifth starter.

Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted May 5, 2007 The Phillies are a strange team this year. Myers turns into a closer. Victorino turns into a base stealer. Rollins turns into a slugger. Howard just gets walked a lot, which makes him a GIRL.

Guest Smues Report post Posted May 5, 2007 Actually now that I think about it a perfect game could have been good for the headlines it would produce. TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2007 I was at the Stadium today. Thanks for jinxing it, jerks. Jeff Weaver rekindled days gone by, getting bitch slapped around to the tune of 6 runs at Yankee Stadium. Just not in a Yankee uniform this time.
devo 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2007 Miracle of miracles, Jorge Sosa turned in a really good start (6.1 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 2 R, 3 K) for the Mets tonight! I'm not gonna get too excited yet, but considering how well he's done in AAA this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he's actually somehow been turned into a good pitcher. Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2007 Red Sox losing that game last night hurt a bit. Johan wasn't sharp at all and his velocity was down quite a bit and they still couldn't manage to produce more than one run. I still don't understand why they paid Julio Lugo all that money. I wish they had kept Alex Gonzales. Lugo is terrible as a leadoff hitter; the guy doesn't take many pitches at all before flying out to right or popping up. Annabelle 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2007 the dodgers called up andy laroche. unless he totally stinks it up worse than betemit, he is going to be their every day third baseman. betemit is staying on as a left handed hitting ph. they've got a lot of talented young guys waiting in the wings. both james loney & matt kemp are ready to be called up but they don't have any room. Craig Th 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2007 George must have paid him $20 million. I'm serious too.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2007 It had to be more than $20 million. He made $22 million last season. I doubt he took the paycut. Well, people in Houston are gonna be pissed. I'm not. The Astros' rotation is looking pretty decent w/o him and if he wants to go to the AL East and make 80 Brazilian dollars to pitch 120 innings of 4.50 ERA ball, good for him.
