The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/h...t.asp?aID=19417 Not a lot of detail here, but Kennedy jobs to Matt Hardy and a Batista-Undertaker cage match for next week is announced.
mysterious_w 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 So I guess the cage match will have probably have an injury angle then, with Batista getting his belt back. So the "long title run" looks to be 6 weeks in the end, well, it's double what RVD ended up with.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Here's an odd idea: What if Kennedy wins the title somehow, but retains his MITB? Then at some point he might lose it but still have his iron clad rematch anytime he wanted. Or is that a bit convoluted?
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Here's an odd idea: What if Kennedy wins the title somehow, but retains his MITB? Then at some point he might lose it but still have his iron clad rematch anytime he wanted. Or is that a bit convoluted? Not really. Edge had that oppurtunity being in the Gold Rush tournament, even while he had the MITB. So it's possible..not something I can really bank, nor want to see though. That would mean Kennedy beating I would guess Batista clean (by not cheaply using the MITB at least) and I don't think he's been built up enough for that...since Batista has beaten him on numerous occasions. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Matt Hardy always beats Kennedy, a future main eventer, but jobs to everyone else. That's kinda funny.
theintensifier 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Meltzer is still calling that Kennedy ends up with the title. The WWF was going to give him a World title anyway, so why not do it now instead of waiting. Kennedy is SmackDowns Edge.

Then at some point he might lose it but still have his iron clad rematch anytime he wanted. Or is that a bit convoluted? It's be cool if kennedy won without using Money in the bank, then used Money in the bank to go after one of the other titles later in the year (rumble time?), to consolidate two brands together (say if they got rid of ECW at the end of the year or whenever). It's be the easiest way to do it.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Meltzer is still calling that Kennedy ends up with the title. The WWF was going to give him a World title anyway, so why not do it now instead of waiting. Because they don't have to and it might be too soon. They want Kennedy to succeed and the last thing they should do is rush the World title on to him before he's ready and the audience is primed to accept it. The cage match will likely end with Batista winning and likely, if Vince is panicked enough, Mark Henry showing up to segue into the next big feud. Though if Undertaker is able to go in, he'll win the match and we'll probably see him win and then they'll rematch at JD with the Hell in a Cell.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Henry was supposed to be showing up this week, wasn't he? That Cage Match just screams Henry run-in.

Enigma 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Henry runs in, beats the ever-living fuck out of both guys, Kennedy comes out and makes the cage match a 3-way, pins either one of them for the title.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Here's an odd idea: What if Kennedy wins the title somehow, but retains his MITB? Then at some point he might lose it but still have his iron clad rematch anytime he wanted. Or is that a bit convoluted? The smart money for Kennedy would be if he were in this situation for a title match without using his MITB, if things weren't going his way, he could roll out of the ring, get a chair/other weapon, beat the hell out of the champion to draw a DQ, then simply use his MITB while the champion is beaten bloody. pochorenella 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Another set of spoilers, taken from 411mania.com. There are a couple of different results regarding the original post on this thread: Credit: Travis Alford & PWInsider.com DARK MATCHES Chuck Palumbo def. Daivari (Palumbo has muscled up quite a bit since his WWE days, he also has a new gimmick, sorta American Bad Ass Undertaker type, he wears black pants, and rides a motorcycle out and around the ring. He went over with a big boot to the face but got the crowd really going when, after the match, he got on his back and did a burn out that filled the ring with smoke.) Some Guy def. Funaki (Sorry I didn't get the name, the guy was huge however, he went over Funaki pretty easily though, the crowd didn't care for this match at all) Next It was Time For Smackdown! WWE SMACKDOWN JBL & Cole both came down to JBL's theme, and after that it was to the opening video package, no opening pyro or nothing (WHICH SUCKED!) Boogeyman w/ Little Boogeyman def. William Regal w/ Dave Taylor (via / D.Q.) (Kane came out to make the save after Taylor interrupted the match and chased both him and Regal threw the crowd.) Teddy Long came on the screen talking about how it was an honor to be in the presence of a "Hall Of Famer" and then they showed Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes was there trying out for the GM's Assistant job but turned it down when he found out it was just as an assistant. Brian Kendrick w/ Paul London def. Domino w/ Deuce & Cherry (Kendrick hit the "Slice Bread" off of Deuce who was standing on the apron just after elbowing London in the injured ribs.) Matt Hardy def. Mr. Kennedy (Awesome match, this was one of the two best matches of the night, Hardy has really stepped up his game, several near falls by both men, Kennedy also busted his lip or nose, I couldn't tell which after spilling over the top rope. Hardy won with the "Twist Of Fate") Batista came out and cut a promo, talking about how he thought about walking away from it all after loosing the belt but he just couldn't do it, and that he will get his revenge and his belt. Teddy Long came back up on the screen, this time however it was with MVP, MVP was complaining about how he deserves another shot at the U.S. title, but instead Long booked for the nights main event, MVP vs. Kane! Winner gets a shot at Benoit for the U.S. Title. Crew then set up a stage with candles that took about five minutes of work just for Maryse to do five seconds of talking and introduced the next match. Gregory Helms def. Jimmy Wang Yang (Decent match) Undertaker came on the screen and cut a promo on Batista where he announced next week on Smackdown, Undertaker vs. Batista The lights go out while a video package plays during which time a group of guys come running down to the ring and you can easily tell Hornswoggle is in between them and gets under the ring. Finlay def. The Miz (via Count Out) (Hornswoggle pulled Miz under the ring where he stayed for a moment, when he finally came back out he was wearing Hornswoggle's hat but instead of getting back in the ring he just walked out and got counted out.) The announcer announced that the next match was the main event, and then we would be going live on Sci-Fi for ECW!, Followed by Finlay vs. Batista! Crew set the candle stage back up for Maryse again, only for her to again do five seconds of talking to announce the main event next. MVP def. Kane (Regal & Taylor came out and got involved costing Kane the match, so MVP gets another shot at Benoit now) Didn't stay around for the dark match so I don't know who won between Batista vs. Finlay but I do know that I never so Hornswoggle return to the back after Finlay's first match so.... LOUDEST POPS GOOD 1. CM Punk 2. Batista 3. Lashley 4. Matt Hardy 5. ECW Expose Biggest 1. Mr. McMahon 2. MVP 3. Elijah Burke 4. Mr. Kennedy 5. The Miz
Wrestlefreak 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 Kennedy/Hardy was great, but Kennedy clearly should have been put over strongly. As always, a great Smackdown tonight.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 Kennedy/Hardy was great, but Kennedy clearly should have been put over strongly. As always, a great Smackdown tonight. Honestly, I'm glad Hardy won. Because it could help boost Hardy into the upper midcard, maybe even main event status. They could make an angle about Kennedy not being able to beat Matt Hardy sometime later this year. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 I liked Helms blocking the armdrag, and then tossing Yang out of the ring. I don't think I've ever seen anyone block an armdrag like that.

LJSexay 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 amazing show - a non-fan watched with me and left my apartment looking forward to next week I love that Hardy is 3-0 with Kennedy... definitely a future storyline (and great matches!) to come.
FroGG_NeaL 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 JBL put Matt Hardy over huge last night on commentary, and did you see that pop when he won? Fucking shit. That was definetly my favorite match from this weeks shows.
Thanks for the Fish 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 I believe I stated last week that MVP wasn't ready for the US Title because I couldn't see him feuding with anybody that would interest me. However I think Matt Hardy vs MVP would be a solid enough feud US Title feud if the plan is to give MVP the title. Also Hardy vs Benoit would be a solid next feud for Benoit IF the plan is for him to keep the title. Given that th Undertaker is on the shelf, I think I'd give the US Title to MVP to free up Benoit to go after a freshly heeled Champion Batista. Have Hardy vs MVP and Benoit vs Batista with Finlay and Ken Kennedy floating between the two title scenes.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 Yeah but we all know what they're liable to panic and book next week: UT vs. Batista, either Batista wins and is beat to hell, or UT somehow retains....then Kennedy comes out and cashes in his MITB and wins. If Kennedy actually does wait till WM to cash it in is there some chance he might do a face turn? It's just kind of a weird dynamic having a guy that's a heel cashing in his MITB at WM and building to some sort of cathartic title win. As last night's show illustrated Kennedy could be an amusing vulnerable champion, since he really doesn't have that much credibility and has lost a few times to Matt Hardy. That would be a silly world title feud though quite honestly, because nobody in their right mind would think they'd put the title on Matt. Not to mention it'd make the SD world title look even more B list than it already is.
