That'll be good press for the company and a small way of giving back in a fun matter. Maybe take a RAW off to hold the game live on USA, give the guys a break. It could be like an All-Star week! The entire roster could play and it could be the ultimate of comedy events. Use Smackdown for something that week like a special on WWE wrestlers visiting sick kids at the many children's hospitals or something. Hold it during the summer when the CW honestly could give a crap less. It's a way to give the whole roster a sorta break and we can all thank Sid. It's BRILLIANT! Sure the company loses a week of business like house shows but it gives them a week off. ECW could just be a best of edition and everyone is happier. It's the ultimate in moral boasts.

ECW would be perfect as the brand needs all the star power it can get and with ECW history everyone knows the brand was made for new stars and for legends to re catch that spotlight.

Downhome Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 It's kind of silly to question if fans will remember who he is if he returns. They remember any number of the legends that we haven't seen it many years, so why not Sid? Once upon a time, he was a huge figure in the business.
dubq Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 There seems to be a stigma that a huge majority of the current WWE fanbase are new fans from the past couple of years - I kinda find that hard to believe. I'm guessing that a huge majority of them are either lifelong fans or those from the mid/late 90's who stuck around - so obviously they're going to remember who Sid is. Hell if they remember who Tatanka is then they'll remember Sid. I wonder if he does come back if they'll let him use the Sid Vicious name since there's really no other company around anymore to associate that past "WCW" history with?

Sid vs. John Cena should be saved, but which pay per view is better? Summerslam is obviously too soon. So we got Survivor Series. This is a pay per view where the title hasn't changed hands since November 2002. November title changes don't really happen that often these days anymore. Royal Rumble? The transitional big one pay per view between Survivor Series and Mania. Would it work here, or would it be overshadowed by the Rumble match itself? And then there's WRESTLEMANIA 24. The grand daddy of them all. Then again, Sid supposedly bomb as champion during the press conferences for Mania 13, I don't know if they would put him back in the main event picture.

While it would certainly be an interesting move, it is being called a long shot at best. It is interesting to note that Laurinaitis would bring up Sid’s name considering the two have had heat for years as Laurinaitis was the WCW road agent that suggested he try the kick from the middle rope at the WCW Sin PPV on January 14, 2001 which resulted in him suffering a very graphic compound fracture to his leg. The match at Sin pretty much ended Sid’s career, although he has been working independent dates every now and then in his mid-40s. Laurinaitis attended an independent wrestling show over the weekend that featured Vicious headlining against Jerry “The King” Lawler. Based on all that we have heard, Sid was moving around good. I hate to bring up an old topic, but I would love to see Sid get one more run. Long shot or not, I hope more comes of this.
