Bruiser Chong Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Judging by the amount of signed Chris Benoit photos that have surfaced on eBay in the last 24 hours, it looks like when he wasn't in the ring or offing his family, Benoit signed lots and lots of autographs.
CanadianChris Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 They've taken out Benoit's section in 24/7. Looks like most of his matches have been pulled altogether -- the only one I could see was one of the Elimination Chamber matches. EDIT: Some other matches are still there under the World Heavyweight Championship heading, at least, but who knows how long they'll still be there.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Well the autopsy won't be revealed for two weeks, and WWE is teasing they know more details, but the police don't want them to say anything until further notice. I think the autospy results will released soon. Toxicology will take more than two weeks.
JustJoe2k5 Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Does it make me a morbid asshole that I'm not throwing away any of my Benoit DVDs/tapes merch and the like......like so many people seem to claim they are? I don't think so, I'm not. I will still enjoy what he did in the ring, even though the way his life ended will always be in the back of my mind.
Perfection Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I just checked SummerSlam 2004 DVD on WWESHOP and the Benoit/Orton Match isnt even listed anymore I Check all the PPVs Benoit headlined or had a major match...All Mention of his name are gone.. WOW...just wow *edit* Just saw JustJoe's post The question is do they completely remove his matches from these shows/dvds or is this just a case of not advertising anything with his name on it. As awful as the thing he did was, if a nfl player did this, they wouldnt go back and not sell games a certain player was in...but this is the wwe we are talking about. So my guess is title matches/changes will be left on things such as dvds but any non title match involving him might be removed completely.
randomguy Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 There really is no point in speculating right now. It's a stupid waste of time.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 No, your honest and not overreacting.
dubq Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Didn't know about this until I was watching the morning news. What a surreal occurance to wrap your mind around. Really. I'm very disappointed, though, that Benoit's guilty before proven innocent.. The autopsy hasn't even concluded yet.. there are no results.. the crucifiers are all basing their bashings on pure speculation, which is just pathetically typical of the IWC. Either way, no matter what happened over this past weekend to the Benoit family, it's not our place to pass judgement on Chris - or any of them for that matter.
Perfection Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Just thinking. What does this mean for ECW? He was, I'm assuming supposed to be their "big" piece that gave some credibility. Who gets traded to ECW? Punk vs. Nitro (though i like it) will not sell anything in the main event scene. I doubt very many really care right now.
Downhome Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Does it make me a morbid asshole that I'm not throwing away any of my Benoit DVDs/tapes merch and the like......like so many people seem to claim they are? I have an assload of tapes, matches on my PC, and his DVD. I'm not going to even think about unloading any of it, but I'll never be able to watch a Benoit match again in the same way.

The self righteous can't help but attack anyone who doesn't think he's a murdering asshole right now.

I'm going to give it some time, I had a really difficult time with last nights show........I hope after some time, either something will be proven or I can block it out and seperate his work from his personal life. In a few months I'll give it a go of watching some things of him and see if I can make it through without breaking down or not feeling the same.
bradolson Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Judging by the amount of signed Chris Benoit photos that have surfaced on eBay in the last 24 hours, it looks like when he wasn't in the ring or offing his family, Benoit signed lots and lots of autographs. I'm guessing a lot of those are fakes which were "signed" in the last day. The WWE Shopzone site has a Wrestlemania plaque with a piece of ring rope and a photo signed by all the winners from the last WM including Benoit, however the description no longer lists Benoit as having signed it.
Downhome Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I still can't get over how it felt as last night went on. As RAW started, I was in the "crushed" mode, just shocked over hearing that Benoit, Woman, and their child was dead. Then as RAW went on, I watched it as I checked for updates online, and that feeling totally changed right as I was watching his tribute. Just really, really weird. MSNBC said that there will be a press conference later today, but didn't mention a specific time.
CheesalaIsGood Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Look... another thing to consider here is much like his friends and co-workers who knew him it is such a stretch to think that this respected man DID what is being claimed. This is less than a day old at this point and for some of Benoit's bigger wrestling supporters this is going to take some time to really settle in. Just think of how hard it has to be for people who actually knew him. Now as far as the merch goes this is uncharted territory. How do you just erase somebody who is so ingrained in the history of the company and still run your business?

They will reveal if there was any trauma, any struggle, and hopefully what happened. The toxicology report is the one that takes a few weeks. that will determine drugs, chemicals, poison, alcohol, or anything uncommon in the bloodstream or body.
Boxer Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 and with the exception of the main story on the front page, the side bar is returning to normal on wwe.com. I guess it is definately no longer in doubt. Tributes, history, everything of Benoit will soon be erased.
Steviekick Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Now as far as the merch goes this is uncharted territory. How do you just erase somebody who is so ingrained in the history of the company and still run your business? I'm sure they'll eventually mention him again on DVDs but nothing ever major.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Do we have any official confirmation yet?
Downhome Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 It looks like WWE.com is moving on as well. Benoit is still the main story, about the case, but over on the right all of the tributes are gone and have been replaced with things about Cena, divas, and stuff like that.

Benoit is still the main story, about the case, but over on the right all of the tributes are gone and have been replaced with things about Cena, divas, and stuff like that. I guess this means that WWE might no a little more than we do, and want to distance themselves from a murderer.
Downhome Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Dave Scherer just posted the following on the PWI board: Speculating at all is really wrong to do. The facts are coming out. Why people can't just wait for them and stay away from the BS stories is beyond me. We have already heard a ton of misinformation here at the offices and it does no good to speculate. Mike and I have heard what happened and are working on 100% confirming it. Trust me, it's heinous and horrible. There's no reason to wonder about things because the truth is horrible on its own.
J.B. Buzzkill Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 As far as striking him from all the records goes, I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I believe the 'E definitely knows something we don't. EDIT: Steviekick beat me.

Even if it was eventually said that he wasn't right now all the major news outlets are reporting that as the story.....they probably don't want to look like they support murder to a random non wrestling fan visitor to their site looking to see something about the story.

WTF!? Heinous and horrible, even moreso than it already is?? I'm literally cringing here, I have a few possible thoughts on how it could get more horrible than it already is but i almost don't want to say it out loud* *(well out "loud" on a message board)

sluggo Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 holy shit all the manias where Benoit wrestled are dirt cheap

That doesn't sound good one bit. About speculating, what can be done to NOT speculate? When someone and their family are found dead along with "tools of death" people can only wonder what happened.
