I feel like I'm watching Lake Placid again. So much hype for what the mystery monster is and then when its revealed, complete disappointment. Plus I'm not happy the whole film is going to be viewed through a camcorder (Blair Witch Project anybody?). Think I'll skip it, but if reviews are positive on here, then that might change my mind.

Really? I remember pictures of the crocodile in Fangoria long before the movie came out.

 

In any case, Lake Placid was about a pretty big crocodile. This thing is as big as a skyscraper. I'm sort of at the point where I don't really care what it is any more, as long as it's really big and fucks shit up.

 

I enjoy getting excited about something... payoff inconsequential. It could be the marshmallow man for all I care. Actually, that'd be pretty sweet...

I never see movies on premiere night since I dislike crowds (and people), but I'm definitely going to check this one out. The promotion for this movie has been outstanding, and it's got an interesting gimmick with the hand held cameras. I know those are shallow reasons to see a movie, but it's a frickin' giant monster movie. It should be an 'event' and the big screen is the best place for movies like this.

 

Also, I'm thinking that mock up of the giant whale monster posted earlier in the thread may not be too far off the mark. Only because of the concept of human-sized monsters buried on it that attack people. In one of the clips they show the woman that eventually implodes being carried by two guys in Hazmat suits, and one of them yells something like "We gotta bite here!". Quite frankly, a monster that can wreak the havoc we've seen so far would be too big to be able to bite individual humans and have them still be intact. So, it could be those 'mutant lice' that are biting humans, and causing the 'infection' which results in implosion. Of course, I could (and probably am) way off the mark, but it should be fun finding out either way.

 

Can't wait.

I was thinking the same thing. Since the poster for the movie showed a giant Croc's mouth trying to eat someone, I figured everyone knew in advance that the monster was a big Croc. The only other time I remember a monster-design being kept this much under wraps was The Relic. The movie is kind of eh (compared to the book at least), but the creature design was pretty good.

Thanks for the screen shots you uploaded. Having not seen the new commercial, I'm still trying to figure out what it is I'm looking at in those pics. I definitely see something, but theres way too much smoke and explosions to make out what it is. Damn you JJ!

Do you know why you can't make out what it is? It's because you won't find out what it is. What you guys have been posting (screen grabs etc) is the best your going to get I'm afraid.

Looking at the top of that I can see why people would think Cthulu, the, what looks like a head has a similar 'Alien' like shape.
