Top 5 places I eat at when on a long road trip

1. Subway. They're usually at gas stations, so they can make them while I fill up my tank and/or pay, it's relatively healthy, and I can eat quick while driving. And cheap.

2. Papa John's/Domino's. Best food to order when at the hotel, especially if traveling in a group. Pizza's one of my favorite foods anyways, and one of the most economical ones. Get a couple large pizzas, the most it'll set you back plus tip is like $20, so between 4 people, you're getting like 4 slices for $5 each. Works especially well for leftovers the next morning as well, so you might not even have to stop for lunch the next day.

3. Dunkin Donuts. Many are open 24 hours, and they have better coffee than Starbucks. Plus, donuts are cheap, if unhealthy, and they have pretty decent breakfast sandwiches.

4. Starbucks. They're fucking everywhere, many are open late (and open early), so I can get coffee quickly and a bite to eat if I need to, even if it's kind of overpriced. Also, wi-fi.

5. Whataburger. If I ever have to step foot (or tire) in Texas, this is at least some consolation.

This is, of course, barring any cool local places I usually stop at, which takes priority over any of the things here. One place in particular, in Baton Rouge, LA, gets my vote for excellent local food. It's called Boutin's, and it's not too far from the freeway if I recall correctly. Totally worth the stop. I've been there on every single one of my cross country moves in the past couple years, and next time I go to Louisiana (one of my favorite states in the country, honestly) I'll make it a point to hit it up.

Kohlrabi is vastly underrated. And that shit just looks weird, to the point where the cashier at most markets I go to just look at it funny, having no clue what it is or how to price it.
