Guest Report post Posted August 2, 2007 And Nomar puts it out for the lead. I'm rarely on the computer while watching these games, so I don't post in these threads much. But there's nobody here to take the computer from me.
Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 god dammit, i switched over to food network and got sidetracked working on a paper. Way to go Nomar, way to break the road team streak! I wish my family wasn't in town this weekend or I'd go for one of the D-Backs games.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 So yeah, we have a tie for first place in the NL Central. I hate the fact that it's the Cubs tied with my Brewers, but it does make for exciting baseball.
Mik 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Miguel Cabrera: • Ranks 1st in NL in BA (.341) • Ranks 4th in NL in HR (26) • Ranks 5th in NL in RBI (79) • Ranks 8th in NL in OBP (.412) • Ranks 1st in NL in SLG (.623) • Ranks 2nd in NL in OPS (1.035) He's lost 20 pounds and he's easily having his best season at the plate. Scary good. He could make a legit run at the triple crown someday, if not this year.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Miguel Cabrera lost 20 pounds? He looks fatter than ever.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 JD Drew has been out of the Boston lineup the past few days to be with his family. Although the team hasn't disclosed specific details, his son had some sort of extensive surgery yesterday that lasted more than 7 hours. I don't want to start any rampant speculation, but if there are health issues affecting his son it might explain some of his erratic play this year.
mike546 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Roger sure didn't have it today. I actually saw this coming his K rate has gone down ans down since his first start and he's started to tail off.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Adam Jones and Justin Upton were both called up today by their respective organizations. These are two of the best outfield prospects in the the game right now and it should a lot of fun watching what they can do over the last two months of the season. Jones should play an immediate role in the Mariners pennant race as he absolutely decimated AAA pitching this year. He's an upgrade over Jose Guillen. Justin Upton gets the honor of drawing endless comparisons to Ken Griffey Jr. but he might still be a little raw to expect immediate production.

Too late? They're two games back in the Wild Card race. They'll be in the playoff picture by the end of next week. PECOTA says they have a 48% chance of making the playoffs as of today. They are going to be a nightmare to deal with in the postseason.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Did A-Rod hit 500 yet? Nope, just Wilson Betemit. On a side note, what prompts a person to ask on a message board when they could check live box scores from four or five websites?

vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 So Rocket got booed? God, those New York fans are brutal. By the by, has anyone seen the Roger Clemens Cingular commercial or is it just local to Texas? It's absolutely hilarious.

On a side note, what prompts a person to ask on a message board when they could check live box scores from four or five websites? I don't know but I bet it's the same type of person that comes to a message board to give updates after every inning of the ballgame their watching even though I'm perfectly capable of looking at the scores on my desktop. mike546 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 I'd boo too if I knew my team was paying him a million per start to give up 8 runs. He wasn't really booed when he got taken out, anyway.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Kyle Lohse cracks me up. Lohse had a shaky first. He gave up two hits, hit two batters and walked Mike Fontenot with the bases loaded to force in a run. He averted a bigger inning by picking up the ball after he was hit by Jones' liner and throwing him out to retire the side. 1 inning before getting taken out by that liner. Nicely pickup there, Philly.

Boon 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Kyle Farnsworth really really sucks. edit: really really really sucks. Of the pitchers you can beat on for this performance, I don't think I'd start with Farnsworth.
mike546 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 It' not about the game, it's about the season. He's supposed to be the setup man, and he's just awful at it.
migoli 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 How can people really just say the yankees are done? The twins came back from a bigger hole and with less time and they had to jump 2 teams including the team that went to the World Series. I just dont get it and im not even a Yankees fan at all
Mik 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Holy shit, J. Upton up already? Dude's 19!! Nice. And yeah, Miguel lost 20 pounds over a few weeks ago. He's still tubby compared to his former self, but he went from a blimp to an overinflated balloon. He could afford to lose 30 more.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 Johnny Estrada and Ned Yost apparently almost threw down in the dugout during the Brewers' loss today. Not only do the Cubs fight amongst themselves, but they inspire other teams to follow suit.
